This is a thread series for the seasonal time trials that focuses on completing the challenges (i.e. beating the gold target times) with stock versions of the cars. This means that instead of maximizing your PP with upgrades and focusing on getting the fastest laps on the in-game leaderboard, you are attempting to complete the challenges with the bare minimum amount of 'car' and money-spent as is possible.

With the new more open ended format means that part of the challenge will be finding a stock car that has the lowest PP or lowest price depending on your view. It is also difficult to predict which types of tires a car will come with before purchasing.

Warning: Some of these challenges are getting to be extreme and should be approached with caution! :banghead:

In order to participate your car must be stock.

1) A stock car is essentially any car as it is when purchased from the dealership or won as a prize: it will have had no modifications, added parts, or adjustments done that affect how the car performs.
2) No oil changes are permitted: if you have had an oil change you must wait until the effects of the HP boost have been removed by driving over 300 km.
3) You must use the original tire type that came with the car, unless dirt or snow tires are required.
4) No changes to any “Car Settings” are permitted: they must ALL be left at their default values. [Note: cars that come with Fully Customizable Suspension that were purchased or won prior to patch 1.11 must have the suspension settings restored to default in order to be updated with the new stock suspension settings.]
5) No SRF or ASM is permitted: other “Driver Assists” are permitted.

Basically, the ONLY changes you may make to a car include: painting the car and changing a car’s racing number. Any other changes means your car is not stock.

Stock A-Spec Seasonals #41:

Beginners' Level Non-Racing Car Challenge: Trial Mountain - 400 PP - SH
Intermediate Level Non-racing Car Challenge: Mid-Field Raceway - 500 PP - SH
Expert Level Non-Racing Car Challenge - Spa - 500 PP - CS

My results so far with a wheel and an automatic transmission:

70s CS tires when rubber was of a higher quality. Just a coincidence. :D

400PP at Trial Mountain:
351PP
- 1:58.404 - 6:20.122 - Mitsubishi Galant GTO MR '70 - CS - FR - 123hp - 980kg - RX-8 Type E '03 - 6:20.790

500PP at Mid-Field Raceway:
474PP
- 1:21.931 - 7:20.816 - Mazda RX500 '70 - CS - MR - 247hp - 850kg - R390 GT1 Road Car '98 - 7:21.718

Do not try to face the Zonda or Yellow Bird with this car. They will fly past you on the straight. Very weird thing happened when I had a Shelby Series One AI in 11th place: it kept hitting a wall before crossing the starting line so that I started in 11th instead of 12th. :odd:

500PP at Spa:
474PP
- 2:47.981 - 14:37.310 - Mazda RX500 '70 - CS - MR - 247hp - 850kg - 430 Scuderia '07 - 14:37.634

Using a wheel and manual transmission:

400PP at Trial Mountain:
358PP
- 1:5?.??? - 6:16.953 - Corvette Convertible (C1) '54 - CS - FR - 149HP - 1309kg - SILEIGHTY '98 - 6:17.771

This car is hampered by CS tires and a 2-speed transmission. I think that I drove the entire race in 2nd.

500PP at Mid-Field Raceway:
460PP - 1:22.xxx - 7:13.174 - Garaiya '02 - SH - MR - 207HP - 800kg - Zonda C12 '00 - 7:13.256

Traded the lead back and forth with the Zonda. I had just enough of a lead going into the final straight to keep the lead.

400PP at Trial Mountain:
359PP
- ??? - 6:23.197 - Alpine A310 1600VE '73 - CS - RR - 107hp - 825kg - 86 GT '12 - 6:23.253

Lots of contenders for this one. Interesting choices so far. The Alpine felt pretty slippery.

500PP at Mid-Field Raceway:
433PP
- ??? - 7:45.965 - Acura NSX '91 - CS - MR - 266hp - 1365kg - V12 Vantage '10 - 7:46.076

This one was close. First go I lost out to the F40 by a couple of seconds with a what was very much a warm up race. Then after taking the NSX to Spa for an unsuccessful run I came back and got the F40 on pole again. Expecting it to be fairly easy I didn't notice the Zonda in the field and ended up 15s behind the Zonda, which was 1s behind the F40! The AI times seem to be very variable depending on whether they're egging each other on. When I tried against the Vantage again, with the same grid, he got in a battle with the Cadillac and I couldn't get anywhere near them.

500PP at Spa:
I suspect the Mazda is the only possible winner here. But it is great fun. Haven't managed to win yet. I got distracted by trying to do Mid Field in the Stratos. I may be some time. You were fair flying along in that Mazda @Hastatus.

Hello there!
Nice idea- yesterday i tried the kübelwagen, tuned. 2. Place.
Drive with Controller, automatic.
Today did 400pp Trial Mountain with Hommell Berlinette in 6.08.
Nice race against scion and lotus.
Now first i'll try Nürburgring QM.
See You

Seriously close finish. No blocking.

Call that close?
dino.jpg

413PP but with the advantage of SH tyres of course. Likewise no blocking (as if) but the F40 was very reluctant to pass. He could have had me a few times but chose to hang back. He pulled out and floored it just a little to late here.
Stratos?

It sounds daft but I think the trick to winning is not to go too fast. If you catch the rabbit on lap three, they have two laps to play with you and you don't stand a chance. I'd raced the F40 a couple of times in the Dino before, catching him up early and being thrashed on the straights. In the race I won I'd been taken out and spun round on lap 2 by a Mercedes careering about having been hit by another car. Lost a good few seconds and four places so didn't catch the F40 until the last hairpin. It was like he'd been taken by surprise and wasn't ready to drive fast.

The problem will be finding other cars with CS tires. I tried a Subaru LEGACY B4 2.0GT spec.B '03 but it only has 450PP. After a lap I had made no progress catching up to the leader so I bailed. Does anybody know of a list of cars that includes the tire types. I have been slowly adding that information to my spreadsheet but it is very, very far from complete (only 18 cars identified as having CS tires).

I have one , here is a list of 400-500PP FR's that come with CS tyres.

And here a couple cars that I tested for similar event.

This may have been answered in another thread, but are we allowed to turn off traction control for those vehicles that didn't have it in real life (like the 'Vette)?

Maybe the 599 has too much untersteer it could not go any faster even i pass him.

Yes you can adjust TC to your preference: "5) No SRF or ASM is permitted: other “Driver Assists” are permitted."

Interesting, you have the Mazda RX500 '70 listed with CM tires but when I purchased a new one this week it came with CS tires. My original Mazda RX500 also does not have CM tires (purchased 6/9/2015 or 2015-06-09). Did they change it with some update?

Had to be done. Cruised it really.

I got the win with the Stratos at Mid-Field but only by blocking on the final straight. Hard to win cleanly.

The RX500 comes with CS and always has done. MadMax chose to run it on CM (disobeying the rules, but we let him off) because he had it set up like that for a different event.

Yeah , we ran that very same combo in GTP_WRS as a TT , so I could not post a time ran at the exact same spec.

It's on the list.

It's on the list.

Your links listed the '63 C2 not the '69 Convertible C3. Note that it has to be the Convertible version. The hardtop has SH tires. Of course, this is moot if you've changed your list.

This thread doesn't include TT right ? Just  , is there any car without tune can win a gold on TT ?

The Impreza has a 6-speed transmission but I never got it out of 5th.

The little Honda is very slippery on CM but fun.

@MadMax Should that be 6:24 for the Abarth? Although 7:24 is about what I managed.

I've been trying the Honda Civic Type R '01 at Mid-Field. 1PP less than the FT-86 but with CS tyres. The best I've managed is 1.2s behind an Audi R8 with a race time about 7:47. I'm sure some of you chaps could go quicker but even if you can get to the front, staying there is going to be tough.

Finally got to the front in the 405PP Civic Type R but couldn't hold on to the lead without some nasty blocking. Crossed the line going sideways with the Tamora wedged into the side of my car. I don't think I'm going to get a clean win with this car unless there is a field with a slow rabbit that I haven't come across. Previously in similar events here there was occasionally a field where the fastest car was the '99 Viper or Jaguar XKR but I haven't seen that this time.

I gave up on the normal Stratos after many second places and thought it would be fairly easy with an extra 35hp. It turned out not to be that easy. It took about ten races before I found a rabbit I could beat. No hardship though, I could do this combo for ages and never get bored.
