This is a thread series for the seasonal time trials that focuses on completing the challenges (i.e. beating the gold target times) with stock versions of the cars. This means that instead of maximizing your PP with upgrades and focusing on getting the fastest laps on the in-game leaderboard, you are attempting to complete the challenges with the bare minimum amount of 'car' and money-spent as is possible.

With the new more open ended format means that part of the challenge will be finding a stock car that has the lowest PP or lowest price depending on your view. It is also difficult to predict which types of tires a car will come with before purchasing.

Warning: Some of these challenges are getting to be extreme and should be approached with caution! :banghead:

In order to participate your car must be stock.

1) A stock car is essentially any car as it is when purchased from the dealership or won as a prize: it will have had no modifications, added parts, or adjustments done that affect how the car performs.
2) No oil changes are permitted: if you have had an oil change you must wait until the effects of the HP boost have been removed by driving over 300 km.
3) You must use the original tire type that came with the car, unless dirt or snow tires are required.
4) No changes to any “Car Settings” are permitted: they must ALL be left at their default values. [Note: cars that come with Fully Customizable Suspension that were purchased or won prior to patch 1.11 must have the suspension settings restored to default in order to be updated with the new stock suspension settings.]
5) No SRF or ASM is permitted: other “Driver Assists” are permitted.

Basically, the ONLY changes you may make to a car include: painting the car and changing a car’s racing number. Any other changes means your car is not stock.

Stock A-Spec Seasonals #49:

Beginner Level Non-Race Car Challenge: Twin Ring Motegi West Course - 500 PP - SH
Intermediate Level Non-Race Car Challenge: Trial Mountain - 550 PP - SM
Expert Level Non-Race Car Challenge: Tokyo R246 - 650 PP - SS - 3 laps instead of 5 laps

Repeat of Stock A-Spec Seasonal #6

Last time the records were:
Beginner - 413PP - Ferrari Dino 246 GT '71 - total time = 3:17.368 - nowayback
Intermediate - 518PP - KTM X-Bow Street '12 - best lap time = 1:30.776 - NCRthree [now 3 laps instead of 5 laps so I just included the fastest lap time from last time]
Expert - 615PP - Nissan Concept 2020 VGT - total time = 8:56.309 - nowayback

My best results so far with a wheel and an automatic transmission:

I was able to use the lowest PP cars from last time for the beginner and expert races, but I had to find a new car for the intermediate race where we get 2 fewer laps. I doubt anyone will find a better car than the Nissan VGT with SS for the Expert event...but go ahead and surprise me. ;)

Still had the key to the Lotus in my pocket from trying it (unsuccessfully) in the Bathurst TT so I thought I'd give it a bash. Had absolutely zero recollection of the West Course layout so it took me two tries, Trial Mountain quite a few more. How do you fancy my chances at Tokyo?

@StirlingMoose : With the Lotus at Tokyo? 100% chance of last place.

Yep. But I was only 30s behind P11. And it gave me a chance to drive round slowly and work out where those apexes were hiding in the shadows.

- 1:40.xxx - 9:12.127 - Alpine VGT - SS - MR - 443hp - 900kg - Huayra '11 - 9:12.326

Only took three goes and still very messy. It can go a lot faster than this. Lovely ride.

Only took one go :D to hit a 2:06 in the Alpine at R246. 1:39.126 fast lap. Then I was like, maybe SS isn't the right tire? Saw they are the stock tire, then did this one second try.

Unfairly fast car.

Unfairly fast car.

Isn't it though? After driving the Lotus I thought - I'm going to be going a lot faster but SS tyres, so braking points will be about the same. Nope, much later... if at all.

Thought the big bad RUFs would be overkill for this and it turns out the little one is too. This is an ideal race for a fast car on comfort tyres. Maybe the Mazda RX500.

...So tried the RX-500 but no luck. I'm sure it's possible but I got fed up of coming second so went for another Wankel. Got beaten a few times by the 430 Scud then a re-load got me the Gallardo again.

VGT with SS should be easier but i would like to do it like last time with a Huayra.
Somehow the Enzo got stuck behind the Lambo for a slightly comfortable victory.

Well that wasn't too hard. I'm wondering now if it's possible in the Dino.

By my preferred car:

I also tried the 650PP NRC at Tokyo R246 challenge but still a lot of work there.

ciao

It's starting to get tricky now. I've had a few (alright more than a few) tries in the Dino but yet to stand on the top step of the podium. Best result was six tenths behind. I'm sure it's possible, with three spot-on laps, at least one good tow, a bit of luck and maybe a better driver.

- 1:44.xxx - 9:25.336 - Ferrari FXX '07 - SH - MR - 788hp - 1155kg - Enzo '02 - 9:26.625

I wanted to do this in a real car too and the FXX looked like a good one to start with. It's a bit of a handful on SH tyres but not too bad once you realise the throttle must be used sparingly.

I think I'm flogging a dead (prancing) horse with the Dino at Trial Mountain. I had another session with it today but I'm always a second or so behind. The best I can do is around 5:36.5 and it's just not enough. You'd think it would be possible to find a second in three laps but it seems to be beyond me.
