Blame the game, not yourself.

You can see me taking 1st to 2nd shift very carefully since in this game the clutch seems to slip every now and then without a reason.

Wow really? I too have learned to shift 1-2 very carefully since half the time it gets stuck in neutral, but i always assumed it was my fault!

Also to anyone with an F40, you really should lighten it somewhat if you want the real feel of the car, the stock F40 in gt5 is hundreds of kg overweight for some reason.

Because the GT5 model is based on the US spec (1300+ Kg vs 1100Kg). But contradictorily, the chassis is from the '88 European model. And it's sold as a '92 model. Go figure :scared:

The GT5 f40 seems very point and squirt. I only seem to be able to get the best out it with lots of stabbing on the throttle and brakes rather than smooth action. The grip levels do seem love for what it was supposed to be during its era.

It's far better with a custom gearbox and because it annoyed me I painted it metallic green with gold rims....that'll teach it.

lol i feel sorry for that f40 of yours:(

FYI. If you can't be bothered to buy it, you can win it free through the Festa Cavalino in B-Spec. A max tuned scuderia will get you there.

If you don't have a scuderia, add me, Chqr in friend request and you can borrow it ;D

I had one take with the F40.

Sport hard tires, stock car, no abs, no aids, an track edge to real (makes a hughe difference in laptimes like 10-15 secs)

Far from perfect as I didn't want to spend more than one shot at the feet, but even then you end up with a smile painted on your face.

Nice Lap man! incredible car control at 1:40 onwards.

And yes, thumbs down to all those guys who...

-...have changed the F40s colour and/or rims
-... say that the F40 is stupid and useless.

Few weeks ago I did little "old supercars championship" on Nordschleife, stock cars, no assists (except ABS set to 2), manual gearbox and really strange conclusion ...

1. Jaguar XJ220 7:27.217
2. Cizeta Moroder V16T 7:34.913
3. Ferrari F40 7:36.161
4. Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary 7:37.647
5. RUF CTR Yellow Bird 7:44.084

As one can see, XJ220 is the fastest, in fact it's as fast as new supercars (which I've tested too). Strange enough, it wasn't the fastest one beacause of its top speed (in fact, it's really slow, at least slower than it should be), it just handles the best. Much better then F40. Hmm ...

We would LOVE to have you add these times to our lap time board! Feel free to add as many as you want. We are looking for a wide variety of cars so have some fun doing hot laps in some of those cars you rarely drive.

Are you could spend a lot less on a 458 Italia lightly tuned and accomplish the same thing.

That? Looks like I was going to **** up the lap there up against a guardrail.

I was really impressed how you get the car back under control. I would have lost that car for sure! And I also liked the way you took Schwedenkreuz on the limit.
It seems like that I lack balls, I always brake very early there in races because Im too afraid of throwing away a whole race there.

Hi all, first time poster here,

Just got a 7:24.004 lap on a stock F40 with racing soft tyres, ABS 1 and other aids off, using a Thrustmaster wheel.

By stock I mean unmodified engine or car weight (489 BHP, 1352 kg), I did use an adjustable gearbox (max speed 320 km/h) and adjustable suspension at its stock settings. Wish there was a simple and convenient way to post a replay :)

I also entered my time into the GT5 Public Lap Times spreadsheet, which I think is a useful and very inspiring idea, props to its originators 👍

Cheers,
S.

Well when i host FUN Racers series, we will drive this car! We use sports soft in our series and I think it fits in perfectly with our standards. Its one of my favorites to try and tame, its a beast for sure. i think its a great car to drive!

7.52 with a few mistakes still. Only aid on was ABS 1.

I have been up 10 seconds on that pace at various points, but little mistakes always kill my lap. It's an easy car to drive at anything other than full throttle ... but if you mash the gas too soon it's very unforgiving.

I'll try it arround Nordschleife when I come home, great car.
Of course, I'm using it without ABS.
Great car, starting to love Ferraries...

Ive only done two things to my F40, painted it Rosso Scuderia (to me this is the proper Ferrari red) and fitted sport softs.. i drive it no ABS, my favorite Ferrari of all time, pretty fun to drift and race in general, its so on edge!

I am going to have to see what I can do when I get home. I've been seeing what cars I can take fully stock, and beat the Polyphony Digital Cup Nurb' race in I believe the professional races...I think the F40 should be next.

Also, I've been racing no ABS, which has been very difficult with the G27. Turn the settings down to 2 and 1, front and back and it becomes a lot more possible.

7:43.3 today still with the H shifter and sport hards. Think that's as good as I'll get!!

Great run mate 👍.

I've pulled out a 7:38, stock, sports hard, but that was with the paddles. I'd be stuffed trying to clutch and H shift as well. I wouldn't even see 8 minutes then. :indiff:

Going to try this lap soon. I've been trying out a few different slower cars to get used to the ring without the speedo and course map on. Looks liek it's time to step up to some fast cars. Have to try the yellowbird as well.

Stock F40 on sport hards, ran a 7'35. No assists, except ABS 1 (paddle shifting my G25).
Ran a stock Yellowbird on sport hards too, but was 10sec slower despite both cars having a similar PP level. The Yellowbird is just so tail happy, you lose too much speed keeping it under control

Got near enough the same time as the XJ220 for the GTR Official Record Trophy :dopey:
