stock Integra GS-R or Integra LS w/ mods

The Integra GS-R that I was originally looking at sold. I'm currently debating on either waiting till I find a GS-R in my price range or get a LS. The thing is, if I get a GS-R I wont be able to do much to it (like an after market stereo system, springs, shocks, brakes, and some engine mods) for a while. If I get a LS I can (right away) get some after market shocks, springs, and brake rotors. Then at the end of the year I can get a stereo system and a security system put in it. After 2-3 years when I save enough money I can turbo charge the LS.
The suspension and the the stereo system are the most important things to me. I'm only 16 and this is going to be my 1st car, so I don't really need a lot of hp to start out with but I would like the car to handle really well.
So should I have a stock GS-R (with factory stereo) or a modified LS (with after market stereo)?

GS-R.

Why?

The LS has 140 HP and the GS-R has 170 HP. "Some" engine modifications to a LS will never equal what the GS-R has stock. Forget the stereo, shocks, brake rotors, and stupid body kit and get the faster car.

Couldn't have said it better myself. The GS-R will handle a little better, it's kitted out a little more nicely, and the engine is pure magic compared to the base LS engine.

Most people who do all the 'aftermarket' stuff spend a ton of money, and since they're all buying from the same aftermarket (particularly on a budget), the cars still wind up being very generic; just generically tarted up instead of generically stock.

Buy the nicer car, skip 90% of the mods, and keep your eye on eBay or the local classified ads for a nice set of wheels at a bargain. Go for a nice looking, subtle 15-16" set that somebody who just HAS to have 18s is getting rid of.

First off, what year is the GS-R you're looking at, same for the LS.

1988-1993 Integra GS-Rs had a 1.6l, DOHC I-4 putting out 160 hp(it's a B16A, if you're wondering) and the 1994-2001 GS-Rs had the 170hp B18C.

The RS/LS has a good block to build up a turbocharged hybrid engine, but i'm sure that's not what you're looking at.

I'd go with the LS, honestly. I doubt you're looking at making a 500hp FWD drag car, but it's a better choice, because:

-You're 16. Think about insurance.

-It's your first car. You'd want a car that can take a beating, and that's relatively cheap to fix. The GS-R's gearbox isn't as "beginneer friendly" as the LS/RS/GS box, because it's more performance oriented.

-Gas. VTEC B-Series engine need the 91-92 octane fuel to stay in shape, whereas the Non-VTEC B-Series engines didn't. Think about the gas prices, and tell me what you think about it.

I'm looking into the 1994-2001 DC2 Integras.
The engine in the 1992-1993 DA Integra GS-R was a 1.7L B17A not a B16.
I would like to turbo the LS in 2-3 years.
I will usualy be put'n high octane gas in it any way.

umm... depends on what you want the car for.
ya gonna race ppl in it?
ya just gonna cruise with sum groovy beats?
are you an acceleration person or prefer handling?
do you need to spend all the money?
do you want performance or looks (you could prolly put a wicked kit on the ls)

too many questions...

Basically, do you want to rice it up or do you want to actually race and compete in it?

I guess the feeling would be mutual coming from the V8's mind too. I remember one night I was riding home and saw this pathetic integra with a sweet body kit and interior that was immaculate take on a Z28. the guy in the Integra had his girlfriend in it and she was nodding her head in a fashion not to race. Well, the result was the Integra got burnt by the Z28 and the girlfriend was laughing at the guy. I ended up pulling up to him in a gas station that he quickly turned into after the camaro smoked him good. After talking to him, he started to insult me with my car (at the time it was my miata). I started to realize why he took on the Z28 now. He had a type A personnality. anyways to make the long story short he wanted to race me too, and after taking through some back roads I know and to an industrial place I kniow has no traffic at night, I dogged him. Spent 20 minutes looking for the chach afterwards only to find him at another gas station talking more crap to this guy driving a civic. That has been one of the funniest incidents I ever ran into with a integra driver. As long as you know that you can't beast everything on the road your cool. Don't expect and please don't race near traffic or anything. I also suggest go for performance not looks. It is just really pathetic to see looks and no go. You'll get tried everywhere.

Right now my main concern is handling, the 1st things I'm doing to the Integra are buying some 15" rims with Dunlop SP Sport 5000 tires, then to instal Tein S-Tech Performance Springs, Tokico Premium Performance Shock Absorbers, and Energy Suspension Hyper-Flex System.

**** NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't want to rice it out!
I hate that ****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When I'm a skilled enough driver and my car has all the performance parts on it, I will race.

When my project is done I won't have to be careful of the stupid V8s, that have a lot of hp but weigh a **** load, because I will know that my DC2 (even though it might not have as much hp) will have a better power to weight ratio and will be more maneuverable and handle better!

I hate all show and no go!!!!!!!!

I say get the LS and use the money you save on a coilover kit, shocks, and stereo. (how could you ride without a good system???lol).

Unless you plan on racing, I wouldn't bother with turbo-ing it. Use that $2k on a JDM front end or something.
