Stock rear spoiler removal

Did I ask for a racing game? No. I asked for a driving simulator, like it is stated on the cover. Don't sell a game with a big fat lie on the cover.

Then why the heck it's called a driving simulator? And why are companies like Ferrari being such jerks for so long just to let PD add thier cars to the game? If damage was the reason anyways, then why was there Ferraris in NFSHP2? It had damage, cops, and other junk, and they let Ferrari enter those games with no fussing? GAH! PD sales would go up if they had more exotic cars, because this is a RACING GAME, NOT A EVERYDAY DRIVING SIMULATOR.

They spend more time on adding pointless cars to a racing game. If it's a racing game, why we need such low HP cars that can't be tuned, nor race others? We don't need 1HP cars, we don't need a damn FIAT 500. We don't need a Ford Model T in a damn racing game. How realistic is it if you win a Ford Model T with no miles on it, just for passing a liscense test? WTF.

Please man, they didn't even try to simulate real life here. Why does a car run 50MPH without a drop of gas? It doesn't even reach 50MPH slowly, it goes full acceleration until 50MPH, like a penalty. Also why can't a TVR Speed 12 oversteer? Why can't a Jaguar XJ220 hit 217MPH like it could in real life? Seriously PD needs to get off thier asses and make it live up to the name Simulator.

This is why the GT series is making me mad.

^ Before I go further on your remark, I think you're going off-topic here. There is a thread completley dedicated on that and you can shower all you fury there, try clicking HERE. I don't want to go futher off-topic here.

BT-> Although it may be mostly a cosmetic thing, spoiler-delete option would make a car more of a sleeper-look. Just imagine the WRX STi. (:

Final Off-Topic post.

I had to change because alot of my people kept annoying me on my last account, and I am now making more quality posts here, since I'm helping out members, maybe not in this thread, but alot of other threads I posted in on this account. After Ozzy.'s rant, I just had enough of getting picked on by e-thugs, if I see another E-Thug, I'm going to shoot someone. I tried my best not to flip out on him though, and also to not flip out on other members, but I still flip out on PD. :) Come on, people flamed me for making a Dumbest Quotes Ever thread, but however the "What was the dumbest thing you ever did?" thread was somehow much more successful. Before I didn't even go through the works of getting someone suspension settings, or anything, but now, I'm more than happy to.

The last two people that flipped out on me (this was when I was using the TuneRVisioN account) I didn't rant or cuss back at them, I just took that and acted scared, so less people would be annoyed.

EDIT: The Vanishing Boy. I cannot compare GT4 to Forza if I don't have Forza, or X-Box.

Firstly I like the idea of removing the spoiler it'll make some cars look better. Secondly  WTF why in your right mind would you come to GT Planet just to bag GT4 it's just so stupid :dunce: I mean why come here and stir every one up there's just no point and if you hate GT4 so much go out and buy a X Box and forza 2 and shut up.

Note this post is not directed at anyone.

You know, it's possible this could be done. The cars you mentioned that would look great without the rear spoiler... I'm okay with most of them. I do think the Cobra R could benefit from a real spoiler. It doesn't look completely terrible (I've seen worse), but not as pretty. Some have argued in the past about the rear spoiler of the Dodge Neon SRT-4 when it came out. I noticed some drift cars don't have rear spoilers. Gabkicks said it was a matter of preference in regards to whether drift cars have rear wings or not. I guess you wouldn't need a rear wing if you could actually cut through the air efficiently either in racing or in drifting. I love the Toyota Supra MKIV. I'm very okay with the rear spoiler, though a nice GT-spec wing would still look killer for racing or even as a tuner car. The MKIV Supra had that high rear wing. I don't know if you could replace the wing on this specific Supra while there have been killer Supras like this one:

http://www.suprastore.com/topsecsuport.html

I know this isn't the thread asking for percentages of things happening, but I think there could be a 40 to 60 percent chance of happening. Unless the rear wing for the car is needed to remain functional and drive through the wind effectively, then this is still a fairly nice idea.

Right, 'cause it's impossible for someone to like any of the previous GT games yet dislike GT4. ;)

Sorry mate, it's GTPlanet, not GT4Planet.

The Supra looks quite distinctive and neat without a spoiler, mainly because so many of them have one.

You'd have to be going quite fast for a wing to be needed. In almost all cases it's either purely cosmetic, or simply nice to have. Downforce is a supplement to grip, not the essence of it.

CNG,have you done your rants yet?are you finished yet? Well if you dont, just call it and sake hands....i dont want to argue in a forum (cause you'll get BANNED!) and all this stupid stuff makes it more possible to get banned. That kind of this u said was way off topic.Me and The Vanishing Boy have a point when we argue.....if you want to argue here, bring it somewhere else where people like you love to argue(should make a ranting thread 💡 )Well, sure Gt4 maybe not what most people wanted, but it is still there. The video game franchise do always evolve.Take NFS for instance, they were always about exotics and cop chases and suddenly it became a tuner game.So was Driver. It was a car chase game and later became a GTA clone. So GT could evolve into something better in a future, just compare GT1 and GT4.See how much has changed from the 2 titles in terms of cars, circuits, and graphics. You just cant expect a game just to be AWESOME on their 1st release......

(another off topic post.sorry about that)

And about the supra, its just the body styling that makes the car so good without a wing. And the bodykits compliment the supras body styling WITHOUT a wing. And other cars just dont look as good as a supra without a wing. But the reason is,why did Toyota put that ugly spoiler on the supra?

If you read above you would see that I am done ranting! Stop ranting about my rants.

Cars that look good without wings
Nissan Skyline R32
Nissan Skyline R33
Nissan Skyline R34
Plymouth Barracuda
Lotus Motorsport Elise
Newest Subaru Impreza Spec-C and STi
Toyota Supra RZ
Scion xB
BMW M3 GTR
Pagani Zonda
RUF CTR2
RUF BTR
RUF RGT
RUF CTR Yellow Bird
Nissan Stagea 260RS and 2.5T

Ohh yeah, and stop getting fired up over opinions. It's amazing how many people here disagree to the truth. Do you really think a Ford Model T belongs in a racing game? I rest my case.

EDIT: If it's a racing game, why can't we even race others in cars? I am not mad about the Ford T, but the fact that you can't race other Ford T's with it. Racing games need cars you can race.

Disagree to what truth? There is no truth there. It is just your opinion that the Model T shouldn't be in GT. If its got wheels, it can be raced, and chances are it has been raced at some point.

The reasonw why I haven't been hateful of spoilers or rear wings is because I don't immediately think "rice" when I see such things on cars. I'm used to real race car stuff. Do you need a spoiler to be a pure racing machine even if it's in stock configuration? No. Probably not. I can't think of too many cars that look better without a spoiler or a rear wing. But apart from whether or not cars look better with such adornments at the rear, you have to take aerodynamics into consideration. It's perfectly fine to get rid of the spoiler or wing if you can still be stable at higher speeds. Oh, and if you need an example on if street cars that need the rear wing to remain stable, think about cars like the Lotus Elise GT1 Road Car and the TVR Speed 12. You could easily spin out during cornering without the rear wings. I still remember when a Saleen S7R lost its engine cover and/or the rear wing. Dude went into a corner at Le Mans and spun out. Those wings are there for a reason for cars that need some sort of way to remain stable at speed.

Let me review your list of cars you noted in Post #37, CNG...
I have seen the Blitz R34 Skyline in GT4. This drift car doesn't have a rear wing. While not a serious Skyline guy (or much of a Nissan guy for that matter), I think the wing-less Skylines probably wouldn't look half bad. I still have to read up on the R34 Skyline having a functional rear wing. * Plymouth Barracuda... I'm okay with the rear spoiler, again. Doesn't bother me one bit. After all, this is a bad ass car even without such a rear wing. * Lotus Motorsport Elise- here is where you're wrong. This thing is suited for racing. If you're building a car to go all out on road courses, you need to tune up the car for high speed racing... which means you'll need a rear wing to keep the rear weighed down. The latest Lotus Exige (a word I keep mispronouncing) even has the rear wing. * Impreza Spec-C and the STi- while I still dislike the latest Impreza's looks as well as the one before it, the 2003-ish Imprezas still are the best looking. I think the spoilers are likely there for rally heritage. There's even an Impreza in the D1GP that has been modified for rear-wheel drive and has a wing at the rear. Maybe since I can a purist, I think racing a Subaru Impreza in rally or even road racing conditions sort of entails me to have that rear wing. It is a Subaru, after all. You know what you're getting with an Impreza. No questions asked. * I never hated the rear spoiler of the Toyota MKIV Supras. The issue of distinction comes into play again here. You can take the wing off of the Supras in question, but looks a bit unusual without the Gateway Arch-like rear wing. * Scion xB/Toyota Bb - save your "aerodynamic brick" jokes. It isn't a speed demon. The wing doesn't bother me even if people try to max out its top speed to 150 mph or more. * BMW M3 GTR- I look at spoilers and wings as distinction. The same applies for a car like this. I'd keep the rear wing again. * Pagani Zonda series- as an off-topic note, check out the Pagani Zonda R: < http://www.netcarshow.com/pagani/2008-zonda_r/ >. Now back on topic. The Pagani Zonda lineup has some rather weird aerodynamics. There were two Zondas for sale in GT3. The other one in GT4 had a sort of double-wing arrangement like GT3's most recent top-of-the-line Subaru Legacy. I'd hate to imagine a mid-engine exotic car like the Pagani Zonda lineup without the rear wing while pushing all those ponies. * RUF CTR2, BTR, RGT, and CTR Yellow Bird- I think you'd need that rear arrangement with the CTR Yellow Birt and the BTR (but especially the Yellow Bird) because they can be a b:censored: to drive regardless. I'm okay with the rear wing for the CTR2 (I'd love to see the CTR2 Sport return in the next GT). I'm very okay with the rear wing of the RGT. It's a real performance machine. * Stagea 260RS and the 2.5T- I haven't religiously used the Stagea models much in my GT gaming. So I can't truly comment on the rear wing arrangement for both models.

All in all, this is still a good option for those who want to be able to remove the rear spoiler (if pre-installed with one) and go racing. I'd still keep them on because I don't know too many cars that have horrible rear wings when you start out with them.

Well, all cars have a reason to have a spoiler.Maybe its for stability purpose or just plain rice (those lip spoilers....) In racing cars, having a wing/spoiler are important especially for circuit racing.Even when people think that drifting doesnt need a spoiler, think again.Like that Blitz ER34 skyline in gt4 doesnt have a spoiler...yet.But the car now has a spoiler.

Ken Nomura's Aero Parts' Comments
I decided to have a rear wing installed on Skyline as I found
it difficult to stop the machine in the battle at Autopolis
last year. This year, I noticed that the traction is much
better. For example from last year, I would swing out too
much as I accelerate when I finish the judging corner and
come back in a hurry in a straight line during my practice.
This year; however, I do not have that problem and I can go
faster. I bet the traction is working at the judging corner,
too. On the other hand, I sometimes have the wing stood up
in small circuits. I did not think canards would suite the
4 door sedan, but I sometimes think about them, especially
because there are many high speed circuits these days.

At first, Blitz did not believe a rear wing would suite a 4 door
sedan; however, they decided to install one from the battle
in Autopolis last year.

But why the sprinter trueno a.k.a. the AE86 doesn't have a spoiler?Because the car is underpowered. The reason there is no wing on some cars or why they take it of is because of straight line speed.Just like Koenigsegg CCX and the Mclaren F1 GTR.Those cars have no wing but have excellent top speed, but at the price of handling.Just look at the time set by Koenigsegg CCX on Top Gear. The car originally didn't have a wing but Jeremy Clarkson insist that the car have a rear wing. When the CCX fitted the rear wing,it did a lap time of 1.17.6,beating the lap time set by Pagani Zonda. That goes to show you, spoilers are important to road cars, especially super cars.I rest my case.

Yeah, but PD doesn't affect anything after buying a wing UNTIL you increase the downforce, so removing a wing won't do anything either. Remember this is a game, so not everything will be programmed, even though I wish it would be. Adding a Rear Wing will increase understeer and slow the car down, best showed in the Lotus MotorSport Elise in GT4. Also in GT3, the Lotus MotorSport Elise didn't have ANY downforce programmed from PD, but it does on GT4. I'm talking about looks, not performance. If we can add a wing, we should be able to remove any wing too. I always ended up lowering the rear downforce in GT3 and 4. All that understeer and unnecessary downforce at the rear + GT4 understeer = :yuck::crazy:

Amazing how people get all advanced when I said how it would LOOK not perform. Also PD didn't program downforce for the Pagani Zonda in GT4, they did in GT3, but not 4. Same goes for the Lancer Evolution, which used to have adjustable downforce stock, and LSD settings for front wheels. If the Pagani Zonda in GT3 and 4 understeer in the game, would you really want more downforce at the rear? There isn't a tiny bit of downforce on the Pagani in GT4 and it does fairly well.

If PD did give us the option to remove the spoiler of any or most car in GT5,I somehow doubt that they would add most of the changes that it would cause to the car if any of them, other that downforce of corse. I still like this idea and I hope that it's include in GT5.

Super bump... Nearly 5 years

On (old) topic, it would be great to see them bring in this option. I mean, it gets deleted when you replace it anyway; can't they just make an option for it to go without a replacement?
