This is a thread series for the seasonal time trials that focuses on completing the challenges (i.e. beating the gold target times) with stock versions of the cars. This means that instead of maximizing your PP with upgrades and focusing on getting the fastest laps on the in-game leaderboard, you are attempting to complete the challenges with the bare minimum amount of 'car' and money-spent as is possible.

With the new more open ended format means that part of the challenge will be finding a stock car that has the lowest PP or lowest price depending on your view. It is also difficult to predict which types of tires a car will come with before purchasing.

Warning: Some of these challenges are getting to be extreme and should be approached with caution! :banghead:

In order to participate your car must be stock.

1) A stock car is essentially any car as it is when purchased from the dealership or won as a prize: it will have had no modifications, added parts, or adjustments done that affect how the car performs.
2) No oil changes are permitted: if you have had an oil change you must wait until the effects of the HP boost have been removed by driving over 300 km.
3) You must use the original tire type that came with the car, unless dirt or snow tires are required.
4) No changes to any “Car Settings” are permitted: they must ALL be left at their default values. [Note: cars that come with Fully Customizable Suspension that were purchased or won prior to patch 1.11 must have the suspension settings restored to default in order to be updated with the new stock suspension settings.]
5) No SRF or ASM is permitted: other “Driver Assists” are permitted.

Basically, the ONLY changes you may make to a car include: painting the car and changing a car’s racing number. Any other changes means your car is not stock.

Stock Seasonal Time Trials #27:

Non-Race Cars and Tuned Cars Super Lap: target 0:56.000 - Tsukuba - 600PP - SS

Rally Car Super Lap: target 2:20.000 - Chamonix West - 550PP - Snow

The Stock Seasonal Spreadsheet:

A few members have begun a leaderboard of sorts where individuals will be able to input their info into a public document. This is not so much a competition as a way to compare all sorts of data. At this point the data that is recorded for entries is as follows:

PP - Lap Time - Car (try to include manufacturer) - Tires - Drive - Power - Weight

Link to the GTP Stock Seasonal Spreadsheet:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1kDEW2OWUxHfq9PTR4G4-HKXl3veLfq0sXhvwiPYMUGw/

Notes about the Spreadsheet:
Tabs will generally be ordered with the newest seasonal events at the left.
Gold times are ordered based first on PP (lowest PP at the top), and then lap time.
Bronze and Silver times are ordered based solely on lap time (fastest time at the top): these entries will be grayed out.
If you are comfortable with entering your info please do so.
Only create one entry per car for your best lap time for that car.
To add an empty line: right click (PC) on a gray row number box and select add a row above or below.
If you make a mistake or change something you did not mean to change hit undo once or a few times.

Happy New Year!

My times so far with a wheel and an automatic transmission:

600PP at Tsukuba:

I tried the Cobra 427 ‘66, Ferrari GTB4 ’71, Series One Super Charged ’03, and Ferrari 430 Scuderia ’07 and was not coming any closer than 1:00.xxx. Then I noticed that the online record was only about 5 seconds below the 56 second gold lap so I had to use more ‘tuned’ cars (still stock versions of course).

572PP – 0:58.272 – Tommykaira ZZII ’00 – SH – 4WD – 542hp – 1000kg (manual users might be able to get gold with this car).

594PP – 0:54.289 – Amuse S2000 GT1 Turbo – SS – FR – 616hp – 1120kg (very, very easy gold due to stock ss tires)

550PP at Chamonix West:

549PP – 2:18.101 – Audi Quattro S1 Rally Car 15th Anniv ’86 – S – 4WD – 488hp – 1090kg

Happy new year to you, sir. I hope you enjoyed the festivities.

600PP at Tsukuba:

I tried the Amuse Carbon R first. Boy is it a handful, even on SS. Won't turn in and spins up the rears easy as anything. Taking off the camber tamed it a bit, but still only good enough for silver in my hands.

Next up was the Tommy and I surprised myself with a gold first lap and then another second and a half in the next few. Then I realised I'd gone out on SS. :dunce: When I put the right tyres on it was actually much more fun but I could only manage mid 57s. Somebody will be along soon to do it.

588PP – 0:55.580 – HKS CT-230R '08 – SS – 4WD – 572hp – 1068kg

I don't know how this was in my garage. I must have bought it on one of my shopping sprees. I'd never driven it before.
It's a corker.

Edit -
Tried out a couple more candidates. The McLaren "long string of numbers and letters" which was ok, mid 57s again. But the Red Devil! What a hoot. It's the first time I've been tempted to turn on TC for a very long time. Even with TC on 2 I was doing involuntary burn-outs in 3rd gear. Someone with very nifty throttle control could probably do it and it's something I'd love to witness.

Well considering you win the HKS CT230R for free by winning the 9 hour Tsukuba endurance race in GT5, it makes sense that car is well designed for that track! ( I read this after looking up the car)

And on to the slippery stuff. No corner cutting obviously.

550PP at Chamonix West:

544PP – 2:19.372 – Lancia DELTA S4 Rally Car '85 – S – 4WD – 448hp – 890kg
Pretty straightforward. Got it in a couple of laps so it can go a lot quicker.

488PP – 2:19.478 – Mitsubishi CZ-3 Tarmac Rally Car – S – 4WD – 314hp – 1200kg
Tarmac? Really? Goes pretty well on snow too. And you can can take the jump flat-out without going head over heels.

I'd like to see if it's possible in a 2WD. I tried the Stratos and got near a silver but I don't hold out much hope for gold.

I tested the McLaren "long string of numbers and letters" and Red Devil at Tsukuba. The latter one was good for gold.

@MadMax

Since you are a better driver than I, I like to use your times as a benchmark and see how close I can get to them. I hope that you don't mind and I am in no way trying to start anything, but I will be using the same cars you have to see how I measure up. Just thought I'd let you know my intentions and reasoning so you won't think I was trying to prove anything if a miracle should happen. Thanks.

Not a great pair of seasonals this time, so thought I'd contribute a few times...

581PP - 55.948 - McLaren MP4-12C -10 - SH - MR - 600bhp - 1,350kg
595PP - 54.266 - GT-R NISMO '14 - SS - 4WD - 591bhp - 1,378kg

That Red Devil thing understeers like a shopping trolley, and the McLaren MP12 is as ridiculously fast as usual

Replays saved.

Edited to remove Mines time!

Alright Mr. Elitist  (its a joke, ha ha) mind sharing your replay for the Red Devil and maybe some helpful advice on how you were able to achieve such time. Are you using AS? And yea, it just had to be you to come along and set a new benchmark time on the car I'm trying.  I think you done that on purpose. :mischievous: At any rate, just because I may not agree with you or like what you say about certain things, doesn't mean I can't pick your brain, right? I've always respected your skill and speed....your varied opinions on other things, not so much. :mischievous: :P

- 55.921 - Mine's BNR34 SKYLINE GT-R N1 base '06 - SS - 4WD - 591bhp - 1,340kg

Just came in to post my success only to find that @Stotty had beaten me to it in the Mine's older and lower PP brother. But are you sure your car's stock? I reckon it should be 558PP and 591bhp.
Anyway it's great to see so many people taking part. I'll have see about filling in the spreadsheet soon, but if any of you guys feel like putting your times in feel free. So far we've got @MadMax and @Ed_Night tied for the lowest PP and @Stotty the only winner on SH tyres.
I'm surprised nobody's done it in the non-turbo version of the Amuse S2000. I was about half a second off so it's got to be possible.

Hmmmm... I thought it was! It was in my garage and I didn't think I'd ever driven it before... maybe I've done an oil change on it at some stage :embarrassed: I'll remove the time and check.

mind sharing your replay for the Red Devil and maybe some helpful advice on how you were able to achieve such time.

Car is an understeering bag of ****... so you have to coax it in to the apex and get the lock off as quickly as you can... key to stopping it oversteering on the exit is to get the wheel as straight as possible before you use much gas (less lock = more throttle). I'm also pulling the next gear as soon as I hear the tyres start to spin up.

Set that time in less than 10 laps and it will go faster than that, just not much fun to drive.

Replays attached.

I just bought one and had a go. Despite being the same power and weight it's definitely a bit slower than the newer one. I was only 0.3s off so I'm sure you could do it anyway.

It will still go sub 56... I'll but another one tomorrow (not going to bother burning the oil off!)

558PP - 55.996 - Mine's BNR34 SKYLINE GT-R V-Spec N1 base '00 - SS - 4WD - 591bhp - 1,340kg

It took a bit of effort but it was worth it because I've finally worked out how to do the last bend.

I've put all the (winning) times in the spreadsheet. The also-rans... life's too short.

Edit-

471PP - 2:19.779 - Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IV Rally Car '97 - S - 4WD - 284bhp -1230kg

As we're getting free tyres I thought I'd buy a few more rally cars and this was one of them. Very good car for the PP.

Yup, It's pretty good in the snow, and I've also just registered my fastest time yet in the TT fully tuned to 550PP with a 2:11.103 and I know it will go even faster. :D

Excellent stuff. Can you still take the jump flat-out though? I would imagine it's fast enough now to fly right over the top.
I've gone about as far as I can with stock cars now so I'd like to try out your tune.

Chamonix

2:17.575 first run in Subaru IMPREZA Sedan WRX STI Rally Car '05; PP 537, HP 410, 1065 kg. Might tune it and give it a try.

Tsukuba
594 PP - 0:54.374 - Amuse GT1 Turbo, 616 HP, 1120 kg, SS.

Would anyone be so kind as to confirm the stock tires on the 458 Italia? Thank you.

I tried the 458 and couldn't get it below gold time... the cars handling has been massively hobbled by PD's last changes to the stock set up (massive rear toe + camber), and it just understeers.

It's ruined stock :(

Thank you SterlingMoose. I could not bring mine back to the dealership numbers so...

Stotty, I tried it as stock as I could get it and couldn't do better than 59.x. Loved it in GT 5.

I ran it stock at Tsukuba on comfort hards in one of the earlier version of the game and ran 58/59's IIRC (not 100% sure but definitely sub 1'00)... it was AWESOME, one of the best experiences I've had in the game (4th gear oversteer :D:D:D).

Couldn't believe how ruined it was when I tried it stock at the weekend - the toe and camber just make it feel completely dead :(
