This is a thread series for the seasonal time trials that focuses on completing the challenges (i.e. beating the gold target times) with stock versions of the cars. This means that instead of maximizing your PP with upgrades and focusing on getting the fastest laps on the in-game leaderboard, you are attempting to complete the challenges with the bare minimum amount of 'car' and money-spent as is possible.

With the new more open ended format means that part of the challenge will be finding a stock car that has the lowest PP or lowest price depending on your view. It is also difficult to predict which types of tires a car will come with before purchasing.

Warning: Some of these challenges are getting to be extreme and should be approached with caution! :banghead:

In order to participate your car must be stock.

1) A stock car is essentially any car as it is when purchased from the dealership or won as a prize: it will have had no modifications, added parts, or adjustments done that affect how the car performs.
2) No oil changes are permitted: if you have had an oil change you must wait until the effects of the HP boost have been removed by driving over 300 km.
3) You must use the original tire type that came with the car, unless dirt or snow tires are required.
4) No changes to any “Car Settings” are permitted: they must ALL be left at their default values. [Note: cars that come with Fully Customizable Suspension that were purchased or won prior to patch 1.11 must have the suspension settings restored to default in order to be updated with the new stock suspension settings.]
5) No SRF or ASM is permitted: other “Driver Assists” are permitted.

Basically, the ONLY changes you may make to a car include: painting the car and changing a car’s racing number. Any other changes means your car is not stock.

Stock Seasonal Time Trials #48:

NASCAR Super Lap: 1:15.000 - Big Willow - 620PP - RH

Rear Wheel Drive Non-Racing & Tuned Car Super Lap: 1:27.000 - Apricot Hill - 600PP - SH

The Stock Seasonal Spreadsheet:

A few members have begun a leaderboard of sorts where individuals will be able to input their info into a public document. This is not so much a competition as a way to compare all sorts of data. At this point the data that is recorded for entries is as follows:

PP - Lap Time - Car (try to include manufacturer) - Tires - Drive - Power - Weight

Link to the GTP Stock Seasonal Spreadsheet:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...hotiLFp3i88kP4fjOAJzbxl_w/edit#gid=2030933764

Notes about the Spreadsheet:
Tabs will generally be ordered with the newest seasonal events at the left.
Gold times are ordered based first on PP (lowest PP at the top), and then lap time.
Bronze and Silver times are ordered based solely on lap time (fastest time at the top): these entries will be grayed out.
If you are comfortable with entering your info please do so.
Only create one entry per car for your best lap time for that car.
To add an empty line: right click (PC) on a gray row number box and select add a row above or below.
If you make a mistake or change something you did not mean to change hit undo once or a few times.

My results so far with a wheel and an automatic transmission:

620PP NASCAR at Big Willow:
620PP
- 1:14.464 - Toyota 2013 Denny Hamlin #11 CAMRY - RH - FR - 849hp - 1565kg

600PP RWD at Apricot Hill:
555PP
- 1:26.114 - KTM X-Bow R '12 - SH - MR - 298hp - 790kg

Not hard with the stock settings but the power peak caught me out a couple of times and the suspension settings are horrible.

@Hastatus Some mistake surely. Those figures don't match either the normal x-bow or the anniversary model.
I tried a few cars starting with the Miura (ever the optimist), then the Rocket (too slow in a straight line) and the F430 (still nowhere near). Heck it's slippery out there. Shame that a lot of the tuner cars which could be great come with SS.

@StirlingMoose : Thanks. Do the X-Bow R '12 stats match now? For some reason I had the limiter on to make the car a 550PP entrant (probably an online race). I set it back to 100% and everything else looked stock, so I took it for another run to get a legitimate lap. I tried the Miura too and it was one of the fastest for its PP (made a 1:29.713): the 980kg and handling helps a lot but it just does not have enough power. The Shelby Cobra has the opposite problem: a lot of power but no handling in turns (1:31.374).

I reckon the normal one is 518PP 236/790 and the anniversary one 566PP 320/790. Haven't got the anniv model so those number are from the spreadsheet, one of your entries. What you've got there looks like either tuned normal one or slightly detuned anniv.

Edit

600PP RWD at Apricot Hill:
581PP
- 1:26.623 - VW W12 Nardo '01 - SH - MR - 591hp - 1300kg

I gave up trying to be clever and went for the big guns. The Nardo makes pretty light weight of a gold time. I did it in a couple of laps then spent half an hour trying beat my time, pushing too hard and understeering all over the place. It's a pretty nasty car really.
The X-bow on the other hand is fantastic. I did a low 1:28 with what seemed a fairly good lap for me, so gold is definitely possible with the 518PP car. Maybe @Ed_Night will oblige.

@StirlingMoose : I think maybe that you are thinking that there are only two X-Bow cars but there are three: X-Bow Street, X-Bow R, and X-Bow R 15th Anniv. That is a very good time with the X-Bow Street...I tried that one first but the handling didn't agree with me so I went to the X-Bow R to see how far below the goal lap time I could get.

:dunce: Well I'm glad we've got that sorted. I can't believe I've gone all this time missing out on an X-bow. I thought I had every car worth having. Anyway, down to 1:27.5 in the Street now. This is going to keep me entertained for a while.

Yesterday i chose the Nissan 390 LM Road Car ( 519pp ) to start with, got a 1:26,6xx after a few laps, so there is not much room to get down in the pp range.

Just started with the Miura and got a very good lap (1:27,427) after 27km, not sure if i can get it below 1:27, but the the best GT players in the world can do it for sure.

1:27,301 now

I had another few laps in the x-bow street but couldn't beat yesterday's 1:27.5 so went and got myself an "R" and got gold first lap. That extra 30-odd PP makes all the difference. I gave the Nissan 390 a few laps and got a 1:28.1 so that's going to be a fun challenge too.
@Hastatus Using AT is a real handicap in the x-bow. Best power and torque is between 5-6k. You've got to shift early to get the most out of it.
Cheering on @Ed_Night. Come on, mate. You can do it.

Applause  There's not a cat in hell's chance of me doing it in the Miura. But...

518PP
- 1:26.748 - KTM X-Bow Street '12 - SH - MR - 236hp - 790kg

I'd been really struggling with this until it occurred to me to check the chassis deterioration, and sure enough it was yellow. It only took three laps to beat my previous best by half a second. :banghead: This is one feature of the game I could definitely do without.

For those of us who enjoy driving something different than the majority (the NSX-R Prototype LM RoadCar), you might consider the McLaren MP-4. If you don't have it and need to go get one, recommending you DO the chassis upgrade. The car I'm presently using has almost 600 miles on it and I did do the oil change awhile back. I do plan to get a new car however and NOT do the oil change. One of my esteemed Geezer pals (Waukazoo) worked these settings up for a 500pp Sierra event our guys did a few months back. With just a few adjustments they're working pretty good at Apricot. If you'd like you can give these settings a try:

RH: 82/81, SR: 9.04/14.23, Comp: 3/4, Ext: 4/5, ARB: 3/4, Camber: 0.8/1.0, Toe: -0.07/-0.10, Brakes 4/4
There are a number of ways you can set the engine but at the moment I am using Stage 3, Sports computer, Standard exhaust, Isometric Ex manifold, Sports cat converter, Intake tuning, HIGH RPM turbo and power set at 64.8%

I put the Custom Wing on this car but will not use a wing on the new one. In any event the wing is set at 92, 44kg ballast set at -12, Stage 3 weight reduction, Carbon hood and windows.

LSD 8/40/9 with the Triple clutch - drive shaft is standard by default.

The trans is compliments of Shawnm80

I'm at 1:23.521 at the moment but given more laps and a bit more tweeking I'm optimistic we can drive it into the 1:22's.

We only use stock cars here, no oil, no chassis upgrade, no adding of any parts, even to change
the brake balance is prohibited. ;)

Not posting with a result unfortunately. But I have been driving a stock GSXR/4 at the 600pp challenge. Call me crazy but I think it can pull it off. I have made a few 1:28 laps, but I have been noticing sector times. I may be nuts, but I think gold is possible.

I think you're right. I gave it half a dozen laps and got 1:28.7. I could probably knock a second off that with more practice. I'm sure @Ed_Night could do it. Maybe you can get there first.

Still stuck in the 1:28s for now. You have to plan your next lap from the chicane entry with this car lol.

It's the same in the x-bow. Any car where it's flat through the last turn. I suppose the trick is, if you know you're not going to make a PB, take it very easy into the chicane to get the best possible exit. That's only just occurred to me.
