This is a thread series for the seasonal time trials that focuses on completing the challenges (i.e. beating the gold target times) with stock versions of the cars. This means that instead of maximizing your PP with upgrades and focusing on getting the fastest laps on the in-game leaderboard, you are attempting to complete the challenges with the bare minimum amount of 'car' and money-spent as is possible. So far it appears to me that PD has been setting gold times by approximately what the stock versions of the cars are capable of. It's also the cheapest way to complete the events because running stock means you do not need to spend any money on your car and the cars that PD has been using so far have been prize cars (apart from the three AE cars) [This time the XNR Ghia Roadster '60, Diablo GT '98, and Elise Race Car '96 are all prize cars.]. I do not intend to include the time trials where PD provides the car because those gold times are rather forgiving.

This thread is for people to post their lap times who have used the following limitations:

1) Car must be stock: no upgrades to cars are permitted (this includes upgrades that do not increase PP such as transmissions).
2) Fresh oil changes in order to temporarily increase HP and PP are not permitted. If you have done an oil change recently you should lower your car's power to the non-fresh-oil-change HP level or wait until the HP has returned to the OEM oil level.
3) You must use the original tires that the car came with.
4) No "Car Settings" like Brake Balance can be adjusted.
5) No SRF or ASM is allowed: other Driver Assists are permitted.

Stock Seasonal Time Trials #7:

Plymouth XNR Ghia Roadster Super Lap: target 1:33.000
[Stock XNR Ghia Roadster '60 = 408 PP - 250 HP - 1500 KG - SH]

Lamborghini Diablo GT2 Super Lap: target 1:08.000
[Stock Diablo GT2 '98 = 564 PP - 630 HP - 1530 KG - SH]*

Lotus Elise Racing Car Super Lap: target 1:30.000**
[Stock Elise Race Car '96 = 497 PP - 173 HP - 645 KG - RH]*

*Elise Race Car '96 Stock Settings:
- Suspension: 80/90 - 5.32/9.60 - 4/4 - 4/4 - 3/3 - 0.0/0.0 - 0.00/0.20
- Transmission: 230 km/h or 143 mph (Gears: 3.552, 2.396, 1.736, 1.328, 1.074 - Final Gear: 3.938)
- Downforce: 150/400

Diablo GT2 '98 Stock Settings:
-Downforce: 50/100

**This time trial can also be entered with the Elise 111R Race Car '04, but for now the official car will be the Elise Race Car '96 which is both a free prize car and the less powerful of the two.

PD suggests a transmission for the Plymouth, weight reduction for the Lamborghini, and downforce adjustments for the Lotus...as always let us see if we can overcome these cars' shortcomings on these tracks with our own driving capabilities. :mischievous:

Looking forward to this as usual. I drove the Plymouth stock the other day at Stowe circuit and that transmission is terrible: 1st gear is huge and I never got out of 2nd. That will definitely be a challenge at Willow.

I'll go first then...

First let me say that this is a good opportunity for us non-tuners to compete right from the beginning of a TT. While we're waiting for some tunes to pop up from the good and unselfish people in here, why not take the stock challenge?

The Plymouth is doable: I did a 1.32.676 within 45min's. DS3, ABS 1, TC 0 -and i remembered to turn SRF off -i recon that might be a potential problem here?

I drove the Plymouth @ stock on willow this morning and managed to run a 1:32.8 within 10 laps.

I will try the others later today or tomorrow.

The Plymouth and Lotus laps are easy enough: I started at 0 km on the odometer for each and ended up with 44.0 and 44.1 km after each reaching gold on each of these. :odd::sly:

Now the Lamborghini on the other hand will likely be the more challenging of this group for most. After about 12 km I am just a little over 2 seconds behind. The problem is this car wants to spin out very easily and will take a lot more focus to reach the gold time but it certainly seems doable at this time: fortunately we do not need to race this car around Suzuka! ;)

My times with a wheel and automatic transmission:

XNR Ghia Roadster '60: 1:32.738
Diablo GT2 '98: 1:07.958
Elise Race Car '96: 1:29.039

Edit: The Lamborghini is easier than I first thought. I forgot that I had lowered the downforce as low as it would go during a top speed test (30/50). I purchased a new one to check stock downforce and with 50/100 this car is much easier to handle. :O Within a few laps I am within half a second with plenty of spots to make up time.

Edit: Golded the Lamborghini time trial :D...and this reminds me why I do not drive MR Cars. 🤬:yuck:

So all the time trials can be completed stock as always. :gtpflag:

Do they really have the Diablo GT2 on sports hards? Is that car even street legal?

Just started with the Elise @ Brands Hatch and after only a few laps to adjust myself to the handling, I ran a pretty easy 1:27.4 👍

Yes that Diablo on Sports Hard feels incredibly annoying after driving the Elise with Racing Hards.

Down to a 1:26.7 with the Elise now. I think there is possibly another .5 to gain, but not much more.

Wow. Well done! I thought getting into the 1:27s was impressive. I would never have imagined 1:26s. Once you have reached your goal would you post your best lap? I would love to see your lines on this track.

Golded the Elise on the 2nd lap, that car is like glue on the track. Silver for now in the other two seasonals.

The Plymouth is my least favorite to drive with the Lambo actually being my favorite. I'm finding I am losing time by sliding laterally rather than losing traction on acceleration but I can at least feel the road better. That Plymouth is like driving a rock on wheels.

I like this format with bone stock rides. But I'm all in for no aids especially no ABS. I can't drive without adjusting the BB not using ABS though so hope that's ok. AT and a modded DFGT.

First round with the aptly named Diablo. Put BB at 2/0. Otherwise it's a lockup nightmare on turn 1, even with ABS that turn's extremely tricky. Rarely can hit it the same way. Still a ways off from gold. Running 1:09's. Best 1:09.324 then a 1:09.322. It's going to be tough to knock off 7/10.

Thanks for posting this challenge up. I used to run a no aids/ stock vehicle challenge in GT5 called Clean Run Challenges. Ran 3-5 lap Seasonal Races with a best total race time goal. We had a blast with a good bunch of similarly minded drivers.

The quality of the video is very poor and I am sorry for that, there is only a single setting on my camera for recording. I think it may be soon time to upgrade to something HD capable.

Nice. I see one turn where I shouldn't need to apply the brakes. 👍 You didn't have to upload a video through YouTube though; you can upload any GT6 video file right here and people can upload it and see it in 1080P in their game. I just learned this last week and it works great and saves a lot of bandwidth and time.

For those who do not know how to do this:

Steps to transfer a GT6 video file from one PS3 to another:

Uploading:

1) Export Video file to PS3 (you can see this option in nowcontrol's pic above).
2) In the PS3's XMB menu go to the Saved Game Data section.
3) The GT6 video file is visible in the same place where your GT6 save file is located, but it is a separate file.
4) Copy the video file to a USB memory stick (flashdrive, thumbdrive, etc).
5) Transfer it to a PC.
6) Zip the entire PS3 folder or the individual video file folder (make sure the USB drive was empty so you don't send Game Save, or unwanted videos, pics; I suspect you could even transfer several different video replays at once with a single zipped PS3 folder).
7) Click "upload a file" below the GTP text box: it's just right of the "post reply" button.

Downloading (reverse the process):
1) Download the file to your PC then USB memory stick; Or directly to your memory stick.
2) Go to the Saved Game Data section in the PS3's XMB.
3) Go to your USB memory stick.
4) Copy the GT6 video file to your PS3.
5) In the GT6 replay gallery (within the game where your replays are located) you "import" the video file to GT6.
6) Play video file to your heart's content.
7) If it is a best lap replay you can import it into the time trial and race against the original driver. :)

Besides people being able to see the replay in perfect quality and racing the person's ghost/line; the video file is only about 300-500 kb in size so uploads and downloads are very quick.

Once you figure this all out, it's as easy as posting a GT6 picture.

You didn't have to upload a video through YouTube though; you can upload any GT6 video file right here and people can upload it and see it in 1080P in their game.

Oh OK, I didn't realize that you was asking for an upload of the ps3 replay file so that you may view it on your own ps3.

In that case, if and when I manage to gold lap GVE in the Diablo [trying to do that right now, currently 1:08.6] I will upload all three stock replay files for you and anyone that wishes to view them in that way. 👍

Lotus Elise RM on RH tyres at Brands Hatch.
497pp/173bhp/22torques/644kg 150/400 aero (Stock levels)
(Stock and no driver Aids - DS3)
1m29.737 18.3 miles

Took me a while to dial this car in. Lots of potential but I wasn't quite sure how much the car/tyres had to give - (Cut to montage of various small errors leading to a fusillade of in car swearing from the driver in Dark Green. Not a fan of how much off track lines the blue lines use... I feel guilty when I touch an exit curb with an outside wheel... makes me cry when I see the ghosts so far off track at Bottom bend. All that nice tarmac... and they still prefer the grass.

Jetson's Ghia concept at Big Willow at 8-30 in the morning... brightlight-brightlight!
408p/250bhp/28torques/1500kg/SH tyres
(Stock and no driver Aids - DS3)
3 gears - over 3300lbs and 250 bhp...
I am used to running Sport soft tyres here and trying to conserve tyre wear. (Excuses!)
Took a while to find the limits - mostly into the sweeper and then I ran wide... and scratched two laps!
I have no excuse not to do well here as I've done 3000miles here.

Car was okay - slow and understeer - the odd things was driving the track with the sun in the wrong bi of the sky - my usual markers for turning and braking and stuff I couldn't quite see... so slowing down way too early for the final corner, turning in too early for the final corner was an annoying mistake by me...

Diablo -Got to buy a new one... with two pringles tubes on the roof.

Well I have managed to gold lap GVE in the Diablo a little while ago with a 1:07.8 and now have put all three super lap replay data files in a zip folder here for anyone who wishes to use on their own ps3. 👍

EDIT: New zip file uploaded.

You all said stock right? Correct me if I'm wrong but I read the in game description for the Ghia you can buy a transmission for it to raise the power transfer with 5 or 6? I haven't tried it yet but I manage to lap the lotus 1:29:075 for 5 laps. trying to search my fast lines but it can still go around 4 secs less of my time. My thumb is killing me with the pain of using ds3. Still no money to buy a g27.:guilty::guilty::guilty:

Restrictions on PP and tire only, you can make any other mods.

By the experiences on these cars, I decided to take them as the sequence of: Ghia Roadster 1st, Diablo GT2 the 2nd, Elise Race Car last (just like in the title). It'd feel easier. ;)

...

Maybe the Diablo GT2 stocks settings have changed with some update?

I only have the one gifted for completing the International B events, never touched it but had same downforce settings as you: 30/50.

Must admit the 50/100 settings make the 1.08 target a more realistic but still challengeing target. Maybe it was a benefit driving the 30/50 for an hour and getting used to it, and then switch to the more-downforce setting.

The time trials as set up by Polyphony do not require anyone to drive stock. You are allowed to upgrade your car in any way. This series of thread is for those of us who are making the challenges more challenging for ourselves. We are imposing strict limits on ourselves, by restricting upgrades and modifications so that we can test our skills. With a quicker engine or transmission the driver can make more errors and still win. Our way means driving the llines and taking the corners much more accurately.

That's interesting because I didn't think I had used my Diablo Prize Car either but was sure that I must have because of the differing downforce. You definitely have me wondering if this is the case. If so, it might mean that other prize cars could have differing downforces compared to the dealership model. Guess I have a reason to go shopping for new cars. :D

Can anyone else confirm that their unused Diablo Prize Car came with 30/50 downforce instead of 50/100?

My Diablo is 30/50. I'm sure I've never adjusted the aero.

Hmmm...I'm not sure why but my PS3 doesn't recognize your replays properly and says that they are corrupt. The individual files are all there and look to be the right size. I tried downloading and using Saidur_Ali's and my replay from the SS#6 thread and they work. Maybe there is regional variation of some sort? Can anyone else get nowcontrol's replays to work on their system?

Have to stop this Diablo mayhem or I what little patience I have will be fried. 1:08.725 No aids. Flicked on ABS and what a Huge difference. So tempting tp leave it on! Anyway, I had to lower my goal to 1:09.

What I did was change the folder numbers before I zipped them up, and I just had a look at them back on the ps3 with the number change and my ps3 does not recognize them either so I assume we have to leave the folder numbers unchanged. I have copied the replays again and uploaded the new zip to the original post above. 👍

They work perfectly now. 👍 And I thought it strange that you had exported 701 replays. :boggled:

Your Lotus lap looks so smooth! How you managed to keep control of the Diablo while trimming the grass was impressive too!

Thanks again for the replays.

Received the Lambo just now and it comes with 50/100 downforce.

I checked all three settings sheets (A,B and C) and they are all the same.

I bought a new Diablo with pringles tubes on the top. Resprayed it in Lapis Lazuli. Off with the driver aids... to the track!

Gah - All my pals are low blood pH drivers! - But I need to find the car - which felt very difficult, locking up wheels at every corner, need to be as smooth as a pair of silk French knickers... Did 10.8 miles worth of driving - which included much painting of the track with the Sport Hards that car is fitted with. Had a slight impact with the concrete wall at the "Table top" (Left/Cresting Right/Right) that misses out the second hairpin of the "Big boy" Grand Valley layout.

I am losing out in many places - which is great after the previous two in this trifecta were a bit easy to gold stock.

Diablo (Didn't note down the Aero power and other numbers - But it is a recent buy so I guess it is the higher numbers?)
1m09.753 - 10.8 miles

The annoying thing is when I booted up GT6 for another go... the millage on my Diablo had dropped to 0.0 miles!

Looking forward to running this again as the only part of the lap I was happy with was my line through the tunnel - got that nailed! (Lamborghini - Tunnel... where is the bulldozer?) - every other corner I barrel in sideways with various wheels locked up and the steering crossed up too. A Nice clean line in turn 1 ( I call the Hairpin "Greystoke") will cut a good second off my lap.

Cool how this car has a "Ciao Bella!" beep beep horn

I guess the tips from you guys will be. Drive smoother - softly and gently, like you are washing the car. - As they say in Turin...

Managed a 1:29.876 with the XNR Ghia
File to be unzipped to the PS3 folder on memory stick

This weekend managed to get this batch all done.
Same settings for everyone: ABS 1, everything else off, Wheel.

The red thing with no roof - 1:32:753 (H-Pattern+Clutch)
A few laps to get used to the combo and do some red laps and it was done. Fairly easy compared to the rocket (well that was ludicrous). Took me 15min. Didn't use the last gear . Congrats @Haarnaald for the time!

Lambo - 1:07:791 (H-Pattern+Clutch)
Oh boy, that was the difficult one. Took me 266 km to make it gold. It is possible to make times into the 1:06:ish. Spinning around and around... Apex? What is it? Strange lines for the win! I found that braking early on the slight uphill made me gain much time.

Lotus - 1:29:465 (Sequential Stick)
This was the easiest one. Car was glue, but taking the foot of the gas while braking is like taking candy from children. Plenty of time to be gained, although putting 1:26:xxx is no easy task. Congrats @nowcontrol

Will upload the Lambo replay in case someone also uses my setup and want to take a look. Done
