This is a thread series for the seasonal time trials that focuses on completing the challenges (i.e. beating the gold target times) with stock versions of the cars. This means that instead of maximizing your PP with upgrades and focusing on getting the fastest laps on the in-game leaderboard, you are attempting to complete the challenges with the bare minimum amount of 'car' and money-spent as is possible. So far it appears to me that PD has been setting gold times by approximately what the stock versions of the cars are capable of. It's also the cheapest way to complete the events because running stock means you do not need to spend any money on your car and the cars that PD has been using so far have been prize cars (apart from the three AE cars) [This time the Renault Sport Clio R.S. and the Tesla Roadster are prize cars; but the Mazda Super Lap is for cars that must be purchased: 24 of the 34 possible entrants overlap with the career mode's National A, One Make Race, Roadster Cup.]. I do not intend to include the time trials where PD provides the car because those gold times are rather forgiving.

This thread is for people to post their lap times who have used the following limitations:

1) Car must be stock: no upgrades to cars are permitted (this includes upgrades that do not increase PP such as transmissions).
2) Fresh oil changes in order to temporarily increase HP and PP are not permitted. If you have done an oil change recently you should lower your car's power to the non-fresh-oil-change HP level or wait until the HP has returned to the OEM oil level.
3) You must use the original tires that the car came with.
4) No "Car Settings" like Brake Balance can be adjusted.
5) No SRF or ASM is allowed: other Driver Assists are permitted.

Stock Seasonal Time Trials #8:

Renault Sport Clio R.S. Super Lap: target 0:55.000
[Stock Clio R.S. '11 = 403 PP - 199 HP - 1240 KG - CS]

Mazda Eunos Roadster / MX-5 / Miata Super Lap: target 1:34.000
[Stock Roadster RS (NC) '07 = 391 PP - 164 HP - 1,100 KG - CS]*

Tesla Roadster Super Lap: target 1:07.000
[Stock Tesla Roadster '08 = 463 PP - 277 HP - 1238 KG - SH]

*There are 34 possible candidates for the Mazda Super Lap this week.
Lowest PP = Eunos Roadster J-Limited (NA) '91 = 351 PP and 19,000$.
Lowest Price = Eunos Roadster (NA Special Package) '89 = 358 PP and 17,000$.
Highest PP = Roadster RS (NC) '07 = 391 PP and 25,000$.

Upon a little experimentation in the Mazda Super Lap, it's looking like the official car might have to be the entrant with the most PP: Roadster RS (NC) '07 = 391 PP and 25,000$. The other entrants just do not come close in my opinion.

Tried the Tesla and gave it a good first run for like 30 laps. So far I am stuck around the 1.08.278. Tbh the 1 second gap is more than I feel there's available for immediate improvement. So challenge wise that's actually a good thing ;-)

'07 Roadster RS (NC) - Comfort Softs - should be fun.

I`m about 1,3 seconds behind gold on both Tesla and Clio RS. The Roadster RS I`m whole 2,7 seconds behind. Spent about 15 laps on each one so far. These are all good challenges

1:35.144 in the 07 Roadster RS (NC) but I can't see where I'm going to find that extra second. I might have to settle for silver on this one. I expect gold is possible but probably not for me.
It's nice drive stock but a bit more power to get up that hill would make all the difference.

It seems for now, with all three of these, I can only manage 0.9-1.1 outside of the gold times and it is not looking easy to find ways to gain that time anywhere.

I think PD may have decided to screw us over and put an end to our fun n games of running gold laps in stock cars with no srf. :irked:

I like the idea of golding these things in stock cars. I just couldn't come to "grips" with the last set of seasonals but am going to try and give these ones a good go. So far I've just tried the Tesla:

Tesla Roadster Super Lap: 1`08.363

I'll have another crack this evening. Like others though, I don't see how a full second and a half will be possible for me to find.

Did 30 odd laps in the clio and managed a 55.6, not possible for me so gave up :irked:

Will try the Tesla next 👍

Just spent some more time at Tsukuba and managed:

1`08.151

It seems that giving the ol' Scandinavian Flick helps around a lot of the tighter corners, I'm just not good at it yet...kinda fun though :sly:👍

1:07.650 in the Tesla. I reckon it's doable.

and 55.877 in the Clio. I think I'm giving up on this one. I just can't see anywhere I can make up a second.

These are like the rocket one, or so it seems.

Had a try with the Clio this morning: 0:55.753
"" evening: 0:55.663

(Wheel, ABS 1 rest off, Clutch, H-Pattern)

With the info of my splits I recon my perfect lap would be below .500

1:07.132 1:07.067 now in the Tesla. It's definitely doable.

You beat me to it, Max. Here's mine in the Tesla, 1:06.736. I've never been so pleased to be in the top 17000. I hope I've got this file upload right, not done it before. I'd better have another crack at the Mazda now.

Yep , you got the uploading done correctly , @StirlingMoose .
Interesting how your approach to the corners is all different from mine. Nice lap overall. 👍

Thanks, Max. My approach to corners is different every time I approach a corner though. Here my method was to get as sideways as possible on the entry and hope the car was pointing in the right direction when it stopped sliding. I've just watched your Mazda lap and got some pointers there. I'll have a go chasing your ghost tomorrow.

It seems to me that, whether intentionally or not, PD have made a good compromise with these TTs. Gold times just about achievable with stock cars for those of us who enjoy that sort of thing, easy enough with srf for the newcomers, the tuners can still have their fun and the top dogs can still fight it out at the top of the leaderboards. Everyone's reasonably happy even if nobody got exactly what they wanted.

Roadster RS (NC) 07
391pp - 164bhp/19torques/1100kg CS tyres

1m36.159 (37.4/20.1/38.5) 6 laps

I was losing time from the line and just fell back all lap long... A long way to go to get Gold for me. But a nice car, and an underused track. https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/track-guide-cape-ring-south.248943/

Tesla
I had one of these with 15 miles on it... and 3 wins... but it was detuned and ballasted up... I removed this (I hope!)
463pp/277bhp/38torques/1283kg/SH tyres

1m10.306 first lap
1m08.585 lap 5 (16.6/20.4/31.5) - up to 22.0 miles... so I guess I ran 7 miles so far.

I paused and my controller fluttered... moving the options about (Restart. exit) sort of dancing about... it also somehow put me from "Classic Dials" view to incar... I don't like incar, but I went a second a lap faster right off the bat... I just hope it didn't turn on Traction control or something.

greasy track but I HATE the car - no gears... no engine brum brum

I am kind of worried that my controller is dying - They are like £40 quid or the cost a brand new release game... and I am loathed to buy a new one.

1:08.945 so far in tesla.

Also back in the olden GT5 days (har har) people who didnt use ABS were allowed to play with BB(iirc). Is there any particular reason that's not the case now(i.e. something in GT6 physics?).

Also is there any breaking the car in in GT6?

Sounds like this is what you need:

I've wondered about this. People who prefer to drive without abs are disadvantaged without the ability to change the BB. I'd like to try some without abs but with the stock BB I'm sure it would be a mess. Perhaps Hastatus would consider a rule change.

MacGyver theme to be played while doing the repair work I hope!

Looks like an interesting fix.
Place your bets on if I can manage to fix it or if I am to be blessed with the all new PS achievement. "Fists of Ham" (Gold)

With the Fists of Ham Achievement your friends will know you are a clumsy git who is not to be trusted to fix even the most simple of devices.

Thanks for the video uploads from both @MadMax and @StirlingMoose I'm gonna see if I can't get that Tesla around the track a bit quicker 👍

Also @MadMax you mentioned a GT1 licence thread? I know it's a little off topic but I'm curious, surely you don't crack out the old PS1 still?

Well thanks to the videos I'm down to 1`07.755...it's so hit and miss for me to exit a corner with good grip and speed though, I think it would be a fluke to get anywhere near 1`07...we'll see.

Tesla -
Are we running Sports Hards?
As many of ... you lot! seem to be running Comfort Softs?
Do these tyres gift more grip?
Are this Comfort Soft Guys just showing off?

well i got tesla down to 1:07.09 and saw several -400 S1s!:P

Well, this could be the solution to find that 1 missing sec... this TT is not on a dry track, so perhaps the sports hard is not best option.

CS offer more grip on the wet track but SH is the stock tyre.

Struggling to get within a second on the sports hard tyres.:irked:

Comforts have many more grooves in the tyre to expel the water, i havent tried the trial yet but is it a fully 100% wet track? if so then comforts will be better as sports would have more water held between the tyre and road
