So as some of you know that there was a glitch in update 2.0 which allowed you to paint stock wheels. Well it got patched but i might know how to still do it.

Unfortunately i don't want to test it because my internet is so SLOW that it would take forever to do it. So if someone of you guys could try it out?

Here is how i think it might work.

Delete the GT5 game data in the game data utility folder on your ps3 and then start the game. Now download and install all updates up to the tenth one which is 2.0. As soon as update 11 starts (got 112 MB) press the circle button to cancel. That's it.

I heard that the first update takes you to 2.0 but im not sure

Keep in mind that you lose everything that is saved in the game data (pictures, replays and thumbnails).

Always keep a backup copy of your savefile on a USB-stick just to be on the safe side.
GT5 update history:
1) 608 MB = 1.05
2) 301 MB = 1.06
3) 47 MB = 1.07
4) 1763 KB = 1.08
5) 48 MB = 1.09
6) 380 MB = 1.10
7) 62 MB = 1.11
8) 13 MB = 1.12
9) 1149 KB = 1.13
10) 1192 MB = 2.00
11) 112 MB = 2.01
12) 246 MB = 2.02
13) 225 MB = 2.03
14) 79 MB = 2.04
15) 25 MB = 2.05
16) 475 MB = 2.06
17) 2193 KB = 2.07

I'm not sure if you even can cancel the update but as i said above i don't want to test it. And don't blame me if you loose some data!:ouch:

Plz someone test it and post results here :sly:

Whats the point? You wouldn't be able to play online or even boot the game up without being up to date. All this seems a little too time consuming for nothing.

After you have painted the wheels you want, you can update to last patch. You can boot the game by being offline.

So, just because you have slow internet, you expect somebody else to take the risk and do all the work for you? To put it bluntly, if you want to know so bad, take the plunge and do it yourself. If it does work, you're going to end up doing it anyway. In my opinion, its simply not worth the hassle just to paint some rims.

In your opinion, maybe not somebody else's. :dopey:

Like I said, its alot of work just to paint some rims not to mention the risk you're taking at data corruption. If you wanna know, just do it yourself instead of trying to get other people to do your dirty work. Slow internet is not really an excuse if you wanna know so bad. I'm ending here so this doesn't turn into a pissing match. Good luck with your experiment. Peace.

Thats why i recommend you to take BACKUP of your gamesave

Its easy to do and I actually like to customize wheels that are unique in the game.
I got a good connection tho.
From version 0.00 to version 2.00 (installed) it takes around 45 minutes for me.
The major downsides is the small amount of glitch-able cars (10)
and you need to re-install the optional game data that make the game load quicker.
Heres a thread i made on the subject.

I do make backups to my game...daily. My only problem with this whole thing is you trying to get someone else to do it for you. I don't care one way or the other about painted stock rims. Drevenger is a friend of mine and has experience with this so I'm sure he'll hook you up with what you need to know.
@ Drevenger: Hey friend, its been awhile. Hope all is well with you and nice to see you're still around. Take care.

You mean rims like this :)

Or this?

Yes that is possible just ask Drevenger if you got questions about it 👍

I find it pretty stupid that they patched it in the first place, but whatever... as long as I can get an R33 GTR with silver chrome stock wheels I'm fine.

Your the reason why this a good thread!! Thumbs up man!

Yep works been done by plenty of people long before this thread, there are already numerous threads about it, do a search and all your questions will be answered.
