Is standard faster than professional?

I am having trouble getting gold on the B class event GTR high speed ring. After almost two hours of racing last night, I can only barely get silver. I am still nearly three seconds from gold.

I was tempted to put it on standard, but that seemed like cheating, and like ASM it doesn't seem like it should make you faster, just less prone to spinning, or pushing off track. I had ASM on for a while, and I was definitely faster in the GTR with ASM off. ASM killed my momentum with the slightest hint of yaw.

If someone tells me it is possible, I have to do it, but I just don't see how to get three seconds off my time. I spent days beating the mercedes 'Gring challenge on GT4 as well as beating the time trial time on the complex ring in GT3. But those were known massive challenges, meant to be done at the end of the game. Also, I did those with a dual shock. I now have a playseat and G25.

I didn't expect something this hard in a random B class event. Actually I don't have gold in the cappuccino high speed ring attack either now that I think about it, and that is a C class race.

did i mention pro physics people have less friends? read the post correctly if you can buddy. don't make false assumptions. it was a mistake posting this on the forum. sorry people. go back to your fun, exciting, challenging pro physics gt5 people. do not bother post anymore with your sarcasm and belittling.

You had to of known what kind of response a "stop bashing standard physics" thread would get. Really though I didn't see anyone attacking standard physics. Everyone said that it's up to the individual to decide how they want to play their game. But in this forum the majority of people are going to use pro, sim style physics, when compared to a more laid back, and forgiving standard physics.

But really to each their own. If you want to turn on all assists and use standard physics then go for it. You paid for the game so play it how you want to. And if I want to wear a pink, and yellow one piece bathing suit when I play I will, and no one can do anything about it.

Standard physics is a good amount faster, it's not just a 'assist' where it's the same physics but with some help, it's a change of the physics. Much grippier, more forgiving physics that allow you do do things you never would normally. I can't remember which exactly but some events you can only get gold by using it. Seems the events were made with standard physics in mind.

we prefer more speed and more fun with setting up and tweaking the car.

Don't we all? I don't know who told you it can't be done under Professional physics, but whoever it was they are wrong. I play on Professional because for one, I think it is fun having to control the throttle around a corner or end up doing donuts very soon.

Well said 👍

The AI also changes.
It kind of scripted in the events and on Standard, the AI is easier to overtake and to catch.

Thats so wrong. Just because you did not make it does not mean its impossible.

I have tried standard physics one time just to test it, but i play GT because i want a realistic experience so pro is only physics for me.

Standard physics is for people who either haven't played many race sims, or don't have the time to master the game. There were 2 or 3 events that I had to use standard on in gt5p to beat them the first time. I think I went back later after playing the game more and got them all on pro but I'm not sure.
There's nothing wrong with standard physics, but there just not for me. I really like to "feel" the car when I play a sim game. To me, I don't see the point in standard physics for sim racers, unless you just want to unlock all of the cars as fast as possible.

Standard Physics sleep with your wife or something?

I play exclusively in pro physics... I actually find myself being the same speed if I try Standard because I'm just so used to pro...

Hard to go from mistakes mattering to arcade physics... and don't want to retrain myself for the lower level and ruin my abilities in the higher levels...

Nothing against standard, it just sucks when compared to pro.

not only did he sleep with my wife, he also convinced my 19 y/o daughter to do porn. :ouch::grumpy::guilty::nervous:

I like to play both the modalities ... but ..

.. I'm in doubt if the pro is a real (+/-) simulation ... or a simply
improvement of the diffucult ... as many games around..

I'm waiting GT5 and the Nordschleife (that i've tried in the real life) ..
to say my own opinion...

So you reckon you have golded all of them with Pro physics?

IIRC no one has done that, I never bothered attempting all gold woth pro physics because it appeared no one could do it (at the time) so I didn't bother trying ( a select few), but if they are actually possible in Pro physics then I will go back and gold them in pro.

Thing that annoyed me is it was clear the AI wasn't using Pro physics.

I dont have all gold, but never tried for it either. SP is boring so I race online. I have seen the events I have not taken gold on in youtube, so I belive its possible but maybe not clean. Im sure there are people on GTP who have all gold in pro..

I want someone to try the Chevrolet manufacturer event and tell me that the pro physics feel correct.

If they are correct than I'd never buy a Corvette, because it just plain sucks going around HSR on S2 tires. No grip anywhere, at all. 👎
The Ford GT is the same.
Granted I didn't go and get a tune created by the great tuners we have here, but the car should be drivable (fast) without tuning the suspension.

The same goes for the TVR's at Suzuka on S1 tires.

To me these are just a ridiculous (pro) physic model, but I am not the greatest driver.
The standard physics seemed a bit easy in these races so that would be good for the rookie drivers out there but the pro physics could certainly be refined.

Don't get me wrong, I like the feel of pro physics (floaty) versus the flat feeling of standard, but cars that slippery would keep the tow trucks very busy. I often wonder if the pro model is a bit too drifty (loose rear end) due to the drifting that the game has.

The physics are to be different in GT5 so we will have to wait until then to see what PD gives us.

Well see, this is what we have gone through a few times, No one has been able to do it. A few newbies have claimed to but would never back up their claims at all. I haven't stuck around in the GT5P forum for a little while now to see if someone cracked it but it still seems not the case. In my original post I wasn't referring just to me as you made it out.
