Well I try to help people out if they ask a question. If I can't answer it, obviously I'll say I don't know and other members will surely provide help. If you can't get an answer, just try searching. You might come up with an answer to your question. BTW- Remember all the senior members were once n00bs too, including me. :p

And, please keep your foul language at bay too.

Finally someone in a respectable position who still cares for the "little" people  under18carbon, we need more senior members like yourself

You say it's a rule to treat people with respect, then why are you swearing at people in the first place? You respect them, they respect you. Well, if some people can't keep quiet it's their problem, why should you even care about it? Just ignore them!

P/S : I keep typing 'sweating' instead of 'swearing' :D

Well SOME of them might deserve it, but there are a lot of helpful members here at GTP, only sometimes they act like stupid people  (No offence to anyone :D ) And keep in mind those words I said just now. Another small thing, if you want to stay, do me a favour, please stop sweati.. I mean, stop swearing will ya,? :D

;)

Sorry, it's pretty difficult to show respect to someone on a forum who doesn't know enough to not use all caps and to not swear. It's a sign that you're unable to articulate yourself. And if you came to the people here for help, perhaps it might be a good idea to listen to what they say and follow the norms of this forum. I'm neutral to whether or not one should search or post a new thread here. What I'm not agreeing with however is how you're handling the situation. If you're an adult, you shouldn't be behaving like this and if you're underaged, you shouldn't be using such language.

Guys - that sort of language is completely unacceptable - and let's not get into caps lock. I appreciate you're frustrated, but that is NO excuse to violate the AUP.

That said, I'm inclined to agree that some members can be pretty heavy handed on noobs asking oft-repeated questions.

Well, there's two sides to that coin.

Sure, we could all take the time to re-answer the same questions every time with a detailed and carefully worded answer.

BUT, by the same token, a new person could also put out the smallest effort to help themselves by looking to see if the question has been answered before. Why should we put forth the effort to answer the same question dozens of times, if they won't even put forth the effort to look for it once?

I've even seen new users post a question and say, "I'm too lazy to search for it". If you have the nerve to type that, I'm certainly not going to bother helping you. Plus if you had the time to type that sentence, you had the time to use the search function and answer your own question. See ya, pal. Don't let the door hit ya on the way out.

You'll note that most regulars are reasonably polite, and say "try the search function; this question has been asked before." The ones who are rudest to noobs are usually rude to everybody.

You'll also note that no one jumps on a user that starts out "I tried the search, but I didn't find what I was looking for." That at least shows they tried to help themselves before expecting someone to hand them the answer.

Uummm were both junior members, your on the same level as me mate.... ;) ;) ;)

Neon_duke: all I'm saying is if you've answered the question b4, then let someone else answer it this time around, and not abuse them (not u just anyone in general).

Kinda like the old saying: "If your not going to say something nice, dont say anything at all" (thank's nanna:D )

I agree with <MOURNINGSTARR> all the way. Big deal if a question is brought up in the past. When I first came here I never used the search function. When you're new somewhere you usually don't think about stuff like that.Shutting down all threads and telling the thread starter to use the search function is ludacris.

Now for the thing that really pisses me off...STOP SAYING IT TAKES UP SPACE AND COSTS MONEY! DO YOU REALLY GIVE A DAMN ABOUT HOW MUCH SPACE A THREAD JUST TOOK UP OR HOW MUCH MONEY JORDAN HAS TO PAY? I sure as hell don't. I'm happy he pays for the site and stuff yeah but, I'm positive more than half of you who say that are freaking brown nosing idiots. Yes, some of you do need to get of your high horses as well.

Mouningstar,
I have to agree with Duke.
When I have seen a question the first time, and I have an answer, I answer the question. I try to be clear, so conciseness gets thrown out the window.
By the third or fourth time I've seen the question you are likely to get directed to go to "such and such" thread.
You obviously know how to use the "search" function.
The thing you are complaining about (I hope) is the rude directions to use the "search" button.
Most of us try to gently direct folks to the search function. Most of us only get rude if we get "I'm too lazy to use the "search" button." It is only one click and typing a few key words. (usually one or two words)
That does seem to be less trouble than starting a long and drawn out thread.
I promise to get down off of my "high horse" when you get down off your Clydesdale with your whinging.

*edit* Imagine sitting at a table with the family, the rather large family, and taking five or ten minutes explaining the schedule for the next days activities, and the one person that "had their brain freewheeling" asks "So, what are we gonna do tommorow."
There is no such thing as a dumb question, if you don't know the answer. Directing newbs and lazy folk to use the "search" button, politely, saves them having to wait for us to get around to answering their questions.
