Strange Account Emails?

Every few weeks or so I get emails from game companies that run MMORPG's, claiming that accounts supposedly created with my email have been accessed by unauthorized means, or that "i'm" selling them.

The thing is, I don't play MMORPG's, and I've NEVER registered for any of them.

I've gotten this for games like Star-Trek Online, some game starting with an A, and from Cryptic Studios, whoever they are.

Any information? I've noticed a large increase in them lately.

Did you unsubscribe to them? The Emails should have an Unsubscribe link somewhere, most likely at the way bottom. If not, it must be 'cookies' sort of problem. I might remove them from your cache.

Hmm...

I'm not sure if this will actually work, but you can try contacting them via Email or some sort. It isn't much, but it seems to be some problem related to the sites themselves.

I get some emails that are similar to that. I think that they are sent because the sender mistypes the email address.

Also another case may be that bots may have registered for said games using randomized email addresses. In which case, you may want to contact support for the games in question and have a nice little chat.

I think its connected to Atari, as I've recieved this email as well. I registered on their site, and I've gotten the Star Trek Online and Cryptic Studios one.

I get ones from blizzard and runescape. Never played them in my life

Do NOT contact the game companies. Well, you could but it's going to be useless. These are phishing e-mails, sent to as many e-mails as these scammers can recollect, whether you play the games or not. They send these "Your account is facing cancellation" or "You've violated their terms of service by trying to sell your account" in hopes that scared members who don't want to lose their game accounts (the actual people who do play them) fall for the scam and send their login info to these scammers (most likely Chinese).

As you may or not know, the gold selling in certain MMORPGs like WoW is quite profitable for chinese gold farmers, so they use this method to get as much as they can. Ignore these e-mails, they most certainly aren't sent by the game companies.
