strange DFGT issue

Hi,
I made this account just to ask this question - so this might be the wrong section. The issue has been annoying me for a couple of years now ( at least 4)

To explain this issue I made a YouTube video

As you can see it sort of rattles when not racing - such as in the menus. This also happens on pc (despite what I said in the description).

Other than this the wheel works ok, a little bit unresponsive forcefeedbackback-wise when turning the wheel 5% left or right. but otherwise good.


It is unlikely that the wheel is under warranty, so I doubt that I could return it.

I hope someone can help

Oddly enough, the rattling seems to be in sync with the music. :P

That happens to me only when using it on PC and not nearly as severe. It never happens on PS3 because GT has a built-in dead zone in the middle, it shouldn't rattle like that.

When it happens to me (on PC) I only nudge it a little bit until it hits a spot when it stops doing it. The unresponsiveness near the middle is normal. I don't think there's a way to fix the rattling yourself.
 
hmm, well as I say this happens on both pc and ps3, it seems to be worse on ps3 as I can change the dead-zone settings manually - unlike ps3.

I might email Logitech to see if this is a known issue - if they give me a fix I will post it here

also I had never noticed that it was intime with the gt5 music :lol:
 
My DFGT always used to do that on the PS3, most times a very gentle nudge a degree or two left or right would stop it though. The wheel always seemed a couple of degrees off centre when in pause or menu screens too but was fine during races (GT5 & 6). Can't say about the PC as I only ever used it on the PS3.
 
My Fanatec CSW does a very similar thing sometimes, all I do is just grab the rim and that stops it.
 
also I have just received a reply from Logitech saying this:

"The problem with the rattling on your Logitech Driving Force GT might be connected to the degree of rotation. Try setting your degree of rotation to a higher value and see if the issue persists."

obviously, the degree of rotation cannot be changed manually on ps3 and logitech gaming profiler is set to 900 degrees for every game on pc - so I cannot up the degree of rotation.

I replied outlining this and will post here when/if I recieve a reply
