Strange Finishing Positions...

On the Nurburgring GP Gr. 4 race on Saturday pm, I experienced something strange at the end of the race... both races I was in 3rd coming round the last bend, ahead of me were only 1, 2 and a lapped guy in 16th - however, as the 16th guy went over the line behind 1 and 2 (but ahead of me) he was awarded 3rd and I got 4th! This happened to two consecutive races and was the same guy (Italian in a bright green Huracan).

Anyone else experienced this or know what it is?
 
The game gets confused by the pitstops and somehow doesn't count laps for some opponents throughout the race. Because his game did show him in P3 the game resynchronized at the finish line and reordered the grid.
 
Happened to me once in a Suzuka race. After the pit cycle I found myself second behind the leader. A lap later I noticed it was showing him in last and I had the lead. The rest of the race I was sweating it wondering if I should even try to pass or not. In the end he pulled a bit from me and the order recycled after the finish line.
 
Same happened to me.
I was mad, because I thought the overlapped guy was blocking me on purpose, but he just defended his position. :lol:
 
Both times this guy came out of the pits on lap 8, just as I was braking for the hairpin at the end of the straight. Seems very odd to me.
 
This has happened multiple times to me. At least on one occasion, on the last lap when my tires are totally toast and barely hanging onto 5th or 6th position on a not pit strategy, I've allowed a car being displayed 16th (based on their overhead flag) through because I was trying to preserve a "clean" race and was not willing to risk getting punted off by defending the racing lane. Surprise of all surprises, he or she gets classified as a position ahead of me at the finish line. I've managed to save several replays of this happening. Very frustrating after having driving a good and clean race and managing to conserve tires and fuel after starting from dead last only to have a position stolen from me......
