So I took my Ford GT40 to Laguna Seca and did some laps. It was in track meet. At the end of my 1st lap, at the last corner, I almost hit the wall when I was coming out of it, but I DIDNT. Then I went on to do 5 more laps and saved the replay to take pics.

What happened during the replay is curious and strange. On the same lap and corner, the car hit the wall in the replay and went out of control. Then it continued to hit the wall and was basically stuck facing the wall. Also, the wheels turned as if the game thought the car was doing my lap, so the throttle and brakes and wheels were working as if the real laps were still going. Then I exited out and played the replay again and it didn't happen again. Anyone have anything to say about this?

Well, looks like there's a very slim chance for it to happen but it's still possible.
The way game saves a replay is basically a list of your inputs and timings. Somehow a slight change occured when saving it, making the replay show things that happened a bit different or VERY different (as in your case).

It happened to me aswell, showing a bump on a wall that wasn't supposed to be there and then some off track trips for some time...

:dunce::dunce::dunce:

That's normal ...

I had it happen to me a few times. In GT3 and GT4. On one replay in GT3 in the S's on GVS Reverse it did it every time I veiwed the replay.

When you watch a replay you're not actually watching a recorded animation. Instead, you are watching "exactly" what you just did on the racetrack, a recreation if you will. Every input from steering angle to gas, brake, and gear are recorded and "played" again when you watch the replay.

As you noticed, everything is "...as if the game thought the car was doing [your] lap..." Well, it is doing just that, except in this case something wasn't recorded correctly at some point and it messed up the entire replay(after it gets to the time of the error).

If this doesn't make sense, ask me to clarify.

That happened to me when I was on an Alfa in Infineon. This is also the same reason that if you push some cones around in the game, then fast forward the replay, then the cones get knocked over.

I've had it happen as well. It's rare, but a little more common at Infineon for some reason. I had a replay that was supposed to be submitted for an OLR event wig out like that once.

I haven't had it happen on any GTs, however it used to happen EVERY time viewed a replay on *shudder* TOCA Touring Cars and occasionally on TOCA2.

Basically, as has been mentioned before, it is an error in recording inputs from the user, due to heavy CPU load, or other factors (worn laser, old RAM, etc etc)

It's happened to me in GT3 with a corvette C5R on seattle. For no (apparent) reason the car spun out on the replay but didn't while I was driving. It still has yet to happen in GT4.

I haven't seen it in GT4, but following up on what gooseter said it happens to me a lot in TOCA 3 too :banghead:

Probably some wierd glitch that happened. Nothing serious I think. Why dont you try another car and track to see if it happens

That'd be a bugger to judge. I've never had it happen in GT4, it happeend once in GT3, and it's happened in other game's from time to time. The first time I ever saw it happen was in ToCA 2 on the PS.

i remember this glitch from GT2 as well. it usually happened in the luxury car showdown on Apricot hill (i'm not positive), when the E55 comes round the first turn ands slides out in the sand, it'll stick to the wall for the rest of the race.

I also use to use that glitch on Rally Tracks, there, when I used my modification of "pothole's headlights code". i made your compediter noe in near the first curve, and STAY there...for an easy win :D

i haven't had that particular glitch, yet, but I have had an odd thing happen with a 2cv, where the game would start, and the controller wouldn't take a single input till i hot booted the whole unit.

did you try unplugging the controller and plugging it back in? or turning off and on the analog button?

Goose:

my PS2 is a 50,000. I can't shut the analog mode off.

besides, I had to uncase my unit to get it working again. the DVD tray came off its track
