So I finally got a decent wheel (T150) for the first time since I had to give up my G25 when moving abroad four years ago, which means I can once again appreciate the finer joys of sims like Assetto Corsa.
And AC really is quite magnificent, and I'm not just enjoying hotlapping but also the handful of short races I've run so far. Planning on starting career mode tonight.
However I'm rather puzzled about what the game considers "same class"? I started what I thought would a GT3 race earlier today (I have all the DLC) but was rather puzzled to see that the field also included GT2, some Lamborghini road cars and a prototype or three. I didn't have the specs of those cars readily in mind, but aside from the not exactly pure GT3 mix I was just as surprised to see that all the cars seemed broadly competitive.
What's going on here? Bugs? Or does AC include other cars that would be competitive with the player's car? Or worst of all, is it artificially meddling with the performance of some of the AI cars?
I was comparing AC and Project cars for a GT3 race on Nürburgring GP and despite the smaller field of cars I enjoyed the AC race a bit more. Although that impression was dampened somewhat by the seemingly mismatched bunch of cars and the sneaking suspicion that some rubberbanding number fiddling might be going on behind the scenes.
