I think its all about getting used to the fact that you cant go on to full lock immediately with a steering wheel like you can with the DS3.

But one thing i noticed if a wheel is that the wheel you got much more turn angle , way more then the controller , like i can do 2 wheels on a mini cooper using my g27 but i cannot if the controller ,

I got like 3 -5 secs fast if wheel in deep forest for example if many cars..

When I said that I don't go past 180degrees I meant during the course of normal racing ... Obviously if you spin or drift then you will be going more than 180degrees.

All I know is a wheel doesn't make me hugely faster than when I use a controller ... Deep Forest for example, can't remember which car (I think a Supra) I was within tenths.

Unfortunately, the more I use the wheel the worse I get with a controller ... So that gap has grown a bit lol!

When you feel the traction going then would you (on the whole) be turning the wheel into the skid really rapidly and tehn straightening it out again quickly?

I just cant catch the drift 99% of the time. Now and again I catch it but that's more luck than judgement.

Also... when losing traction like that would you say it's better to ease off the accelerator and fo the corrective wheel turning or get off the gas completely while doing the same wheel turning. Reason I ask is I know IRL when losing traction like that I know you're meant to ease off the gas but never to get off it completely?

I have the exact same thing; I can catch the odd drift - I can never hold one - and I spin out most of the time.
Btw I never completely release the throttle when I lose tract - I drop to about half and start to increase again.

It's annoying I might even move back to the old DS3

I'm def not moving back. Wheel is so much fun. I come home on weekends to my bro's house sometimes and he has GT5 but only uses a pad, I just can't bring myself to play it. I end up on COD instead. Wheels rock.

Turn it into the slide quickly, no more than 90degrees of a turn if you are catching the car as it starts to slide.

As regards to how much throttle you should be applying, if it is at high speed then I leave the throttle on full, if it is oversteer from accelerating out of a slow speed corner then I lift off of the throttle, and then from there try to straighten the car up.

A good way to practice is to get the Mazda Roadster '07, switch the ABS off, put the brake bias on 1/0 and then try braking in that around a track like cape ring, it is a car that likes to lock the rear up under braking so you can have some oversteery moments very easily on second gear corners, so that should give you practice trying to catch a slide but very early on.

Nice one Hig-GT will get right on to it mate. Cheers

You just need to watch any weight transfer that may occur, so a bit of right lock may be needed after the left, just start off slow and build it up, its hard to turn the wheel fast and still be smooth but you shouldn't have a problem after a bit of practice

Another thing.Ive had a buddy practice he wheel before and he's new to it,he always got his hands tangled up,so you gotta cross your hands.Driversrepublic on youtube has an excellent tutorial I can recommend.

Yeh cross your hands but keep your hands at a quarter to three ... That hand position gives you the best steering lock side to side without having to take your hands off of the wheel.

Cheers. I will check teh vid out and take al the advice. I'm not too bothered about drifitng yet I just would like to know that if I overcook it I can get out of the mess and not just spin out!

Cheers
