I would like to see what everyone thinks are the oddities of GT5, not necessarily the worst cars but ones which seem a little out of place. I will start off with two I never quite grasped, the kubelwagen and schwimmwagen. For a racing game I just don't see how they fit in with the whole theme, surely we want to be going wheel to wheel in something a little faster or more useable than a bathtub with a 4 cylinder boxer? I'm not moaning, I just want to see what we all think:)

Renault Avantime. Why the heck would anyone want one in REAL LIFE, let alone want to race it in a simulator?

I find the Mini Marcos GT '70 looks a bit like a turtle. I've had a bit of fun driving it around for fun.

Im with ya! A mate of mine bought one a few years ago after an evening on eBay after rather too much purchasing fluid had been consumed!
I had the "pleasure" of fetching it with him. 3.0V6 engine was useless and it drank its sump dry of oil on the journey home (we had checked it before leaving) and eventually expressed its displeasure with life in general and gave up. Some very funny looks from other motorists while we awaited recovery! Absolute rammle it was!
If my memory serves me correctly though it had well engineered door hinges.....

Samba Bus. I really do enjoy driving mine, but it feels a little odd driving it online.

Honda Odyssey and the Life Step van. the only use I have found for this giant turd is drifting and it only half heartedly does that.

I'd say the stock Fiat 500's in a "fixed car race" online.. Can you say 10MPH uphill on Nur? Wtf :O

That's a good laugh, a car so sad that it offed itself...

That is quite possibly the best story I've ever heard about an Avantime.

I mean, it's the only one but..

Strangest car? I'm going to have to say the Honda Odyssey. My foster parents had one and it was an atrociously dull thing - more so in Gran Turismo.. I'll never understand why that got in over say a first gen RX7..

I find it strange but it's great fun full mod with CH tires. Go into a drift lobby and start holding angles most Silvia's dream of. Pre 2.12 I'd get asked if it was a Hack.

Clearly the Mitsubishi HSR-II Concept is the strangest. Those flappy things are ridiculous...

...unless you want to create the ultimate off-road machine, for which the Schwimmwagen is perfect! (And I'm not talking about the propeller)
Low RPM turbo, 4WD, ultra-short 1st gear, raised suspension...

Only problem is that there's no off-road track to drive it on.

As for strangest car I'd pick the Hyundai HCD6 Concept. It just looks odd to me.

I'd have to say the Chapparel 2D Race car. It looks like a fridge with two jet engines bolted onto it.

 It is kind of fast and very distracting to people who are trying to chase you down and pass you. 👍

Just wish you could paint it.

The Isuzu 4200r Concept has to be a contender for the strange sound it makes - very much like a church organ. And it has a fax.

It is however a very good and surprising drive!

I think you mean the 2J...?

The 2D is quite nice looking, reminds me of the Ferrari 330 P4

My nominations for the strangest cars:

1987 Buick GNX '87
1988 Nissan EXA CANOPY L.A.Version Type S

My favorite part of the car is the "splashguards", anyone with a fishing boat might know what I'm talking about.

It's not that the kubulwagon and those usless cars are in the game it's that they chose to make them PREMIUM while leaving out so many great cars completely.

How about instead of wasting all that time making useless kubelwagons they put that time into some real cars.

Koenigsegg's or how about some premium RUF's?

Trans am's and foxbody mustangs etc etc.

Complete waste of time with useless vehicles like kabulwagons.

Feeling that! Unless there was an off road course.
I'd LOVE an IMSA Audi 90quattro.

There are some weird choices of cars in the game for sure. It's got to take a lot of time and effort to produce these cars and I wonder who makes use if some of them!

The strangest car I have is the DOME-Zero concept. It doesn't have any odd quirks, but it just has that odd look to me.

Whats so strange about the GNX? It was the fastest production car made by GM at that time. Faster even then the Corvette which is why it was discontinued.

I will agree with you on the Exa though. My friend had the Pulsar (NA model) and it was stupid slow despite all the performance upgrades he decided to do to it.

It just looks a bit "out of place" to me... it certainly wouldn't be my first choice of car to take to the track, maybe I'm just not enamored with its styling.

If you've ever seen a nice GNX in real life you would understand the appeal. It's one of those unicorn cars that came out of nowhere during a decade of complete garbage (the 80's) when V8's we're pushing pathetic numbers from the factory.

My neighbour had an 87 GNX with lightning shifters. Quite the car.

Soooo unfair!
I wish we had cool cars like the GNX over here ... In the 80's, our neighbour had a Ford Escort, it was brand new and Automatic! Rare for an escort! And it was a whole 1.3litres of pure power...! Ha! Rammle! I'd have given parts of my body to have neighbours own cool cars like a GNX! Closest was my dads mate - he had a Rover SD1 vitesse. They had a rejected Buick 3.5litre V8.

Also whats funny a 3.5litre is tiny for a V8 over here in the states lol.

Yeah, but you guys don't have a government that shafts you several times over for every gallon of fuel you buy... hence why we're not all rollin' around in 3.5L motors. :scared:

Yeah very small. 215 ci lol.

Good for 160hp. But common it was the 80's. There we're very few good V8's made back then. The ford 302 was one of the best tho. Hence the username ^ lol

Don't I know it! Not fair! Growing up for me it was cool when my dad got a Ford Cortina with a 2.8 V6!! That'd barely do a starter motor for most American V8's!!!
A family friend did (still does I think) have a proper Shelby 427 cobra. Proper car!
Most of what I deal with are modern petrol and diesel 4 pots, mind you, I've had Audi S3 engine (2.0T petrol) to close to 500hp and used to tune alot of the old Audi 5 cyl turbos. Crazy power but still only 2.2 litre. I do love a big thumpy V8 but they're rare here. I had a few Audi A8 V8's but that's about as big as we get generally!
