Obviously we've only got a few years left before the robots take over.

So how do we fight the robot apocalypse? We know these aren't going to work:

Here's what I'm thinking...

They take one look, evaluate it to a website we've set up, and blamo computer virus, they go down. Or how about this:

The machines can't tell the difference. I think this would be pretty effective too:

Or a permieter of EMPs

Ok, your turn. How are we going to survive?

I am going to call @W3HS and trust his sci-fi knowledge.

At a risk of sounding like captain obvious why would we let it get that far?

Along the lines of "Hey, guy, don't build those terrorbots that could easily rise up and crush us. Please."

Also, Independents Day is aliens, not robots. Still scary, but I'd rather take on robots than aliens.

Cyberwarfare or kill their power source, if that's not enough, EMP grenades + flame thrower + anti material sniper rifle + high capacity/barrel mag automatic shotgun.

This guy is ahead of the curve on EMP warfare - a handheld EMP gun would be a must-have weapon for the anti-robot soldier.

"Independence Day", yea you're right. I got carried away thinking about movies that involve people taking a bomb to the central unit to take out all of soldiers (like at least one of the other movies referenced).

Robots? I've got, not just one, but two Nokia 3310s.

You've been compromised. Nokia obviously works for the machines.

I just hope there's no giant Roombas, they are scary.

But I guess an Arnold Schwarznegger would come in handy. And tesla coils. They are cool and they pretty much cook robots. Oh and a fixed punt gun because why the hell not? All I need now is fortify stuff, like my home.

It's funny, I had a long conversation about this movie topic just 2 days ago. Why does everything depend on the mother-ship / central unit? Wouldn't advance beings have overcome such an obvious shortcoming that seems to always be their Achilles heel??

Just a theory, maybe advanced beings are control freak, they want everything in perfect running order ( the underlings are smart with clock work performance ), and when they have a leader with the same perfectionist mind, the leader wants all at the tip of his hand, boom, centralized control. The biggest strength also the biggest weakness comes to mind.

Ultron.

One of the few exceptions, along with Skynet (who must be just as confused as the rest of us with all of the plot holes in those films). The typical Hollywood formula usually lumps all of it's eggs in one basket. It's refreshing when they go against the grain.

To address the OP properly I think we'd need to know a lot more about what kind of robot threat we are dealing with.

Thank you very much, Mister Roboto for doing the jobs that nobody wanted to.. :D

The robots won't be able to cripple the Amish instantly like everyone else. I say we ask the Amish. They are our only hope.

I would just hire the hacker-like groups that shut down PSN and XBLive. I mean, they could just shut them all of at once, sooo it sounds like a plan, Stan.

You don't know... right now, at this very moment, people across the globe are developing artificial intelligence and machines that can walk and drive. Your guess is as good as mine as far as their weaknesses. So how would you prepare?

Force them to divide by zero.

Failing that, hum Autechre tracks.
10 Print "Death"
20 Goto 10

I'm not against robots, but I don't like the idea of robots being used to kill humans. I have some issues with that.

I don't think we could out live them, especially if they run on renewable energy, so hiding isn't going to work well in the long run. Assuming this will happen in America first (as a lot of robotic progress is being made in the States) then we have to rely on all the gun-toting red necks to do their thing and riddle the robots with automatic weapon fire and buckshot.

Other options might include dumping chemicals on them in the hope they rust and seize up or massive magnets to scoop them all up assuming they aren't made of space-age non-ferrous polymers...but it's likely they will be.
