As noted above, today was the supposed release day. I called up EBGames and they don't have it in yet (I'm used to that :(), although it was received "in the warehouse". So I'm thinking it'll be there tomorrow.

Same here but I'm getting GT4 for the sole reason I can look at pics of all the damn cars instead of going through the list in the garage. Sadly and ironically I think that's one of the main reason GT4 sucks now, it's just too massive.

Sadly, the Prima guide for GT4 is unlike GT3. It does not have pictures of every car in the game. It does have a list of all the cars, but in the manufacturers section, it just highlights one or two cars per manufacturer.

Does it have anything on A-Spec/B-Spec points and how to get them?

Dunno, i only had a chance to flip through it quickly at work. I've got some gift cards for BB so I'll pick mine up tomorrow.

A few other things I didn't like about the Prima guide. The manufacturers are not alphabetized. They are categorized by the region that they are from.

Also, the car stats are only on the master car list, unlike the GT3 guide that had them next to the pics of each car.

The licence tests that are a full lap do not have the gold checkpoint times like the GT3 guide did.

If there was a decent user manual - explaining the various tuning possibilities (e.g look at the forums thread about toe in vs. toe out, etc), having nice maps of the circuits (details, corner names, etc), then there would be no need for a strategy guide....especially not if you have a good forum like GTP. But the user manual for GT4 is pretty much useless....otherwise we wouldnt have so many questions here all the time...

So, PD/Sony, you got some work to do for GT5....

I understand, though, that some GTP enthusiasts want a collectible item in addition to the game itself.

i'd be interested in the points system and thats about it.... I am not spending my money to find out bout the points system just to let the guide gather dust after that. :)

amount of usefulness: 0.0341

The only thing a guide would've been helpful for is the tuning aspect to be covered in great depth. If you put a bit of time into just experimenting with the game there won't be too many mysteries:)

These mysteries can be solved and help given "interactively" talking with COOL DUDES on these very forums, so really this site kicks ten kinds of butt. Certainly kicks any game guide clear accross the patio. For instance the game guide would never mention bugs/flaws etc in the game!! Or easy ways to get money real quick, pointing out balance problems in the game etc!! Or have crazy stories of what people do with the game (hey don't look at me! (looks at cieling, starts whistling)). And this place is free, as opposed to paying $$$. Really I have no idea why anyone wants a guide...

The only thing I found useful to have in hard-copy was to print out the prize car list so I could refer to it when choosing what championship to do, and to minimise the buying of cars I didn't really need etc.

Hey guys down here in australia i asked EB and they said the guide is set to be released on may 1st,so hopefully it will arrive down here in a few days time

I picked up Prima's and it's actually well put together for only 16.99. Has several facts and historical points throughout about the manufacturers. I only glanced through it but it looks like a good read. The quality of some of the pics are very sharp, but that's what you get for 16.99. GameStop and EB claimed they'd have them Tuesday afternoon and I ended up getting one at GameStop.

im undecided on guides, but i have made ALOT of buying errors on Gt4 :( so it could come in handy.

and that 2 year old copy of PC guide is getting boring to read on the toilet

Does the guide have a section where you can photocopy sheets and keep track of races/notes etc? I'd like to have a well organized listing of the various races for Aspec purposes.

Well since I can't carry my computer to my tv and read it while I play, there is a good reason to buy the guide. I won't however since I got board with GT4 really quick, not to mention Forza will be out next week.

Bored? With GT4?? Is such a thing possible?? I guess it is - if you're someone else's little sister to whom the word "Playstation" initiates thoughts of free toys on the rail platform...

(note to mods: this is supposed to be humourous)

I ordered the Prima Game Guide for Gran Turismo 4 a few weeks ago through WalMart.com. I was sent an email that I would receive the Guide on or about April 28. Just yesterday, I received an email from WalMart.com stating that the guide was on backorder. Backorder date changed from April 28 to July 28????? What gives? I have figured out the game on my own, that I can write my own damned guide....Prima Sucks!!!!

Of course I can get board, the game gets very repeatitive. The basics is to take a LM car and race it against other LM car for a long time. Once you get to the Extreme Hall it becomes boring.

then you need to create personal challenges then. there no way to get bored in this game if your goal is not to finish it

no it does not. It does have a tear sheet that you can use to keep track of your car and the mods you a done to it, though.

You will have to make your own for races...

In the back, it has the following checklists that you can photocopy:

GT4 Car Checklist - All Vehicles Listed
GT4 Track Checklist - All Tracks Listed
GT4 Unlock List - All Unlockables
GT4 Tuning Journal - Useful Tuning Sheet

The unlock list lists all the races and the cars that you win.
