EDIT: Huh, I just took a look at the GTWiki for the WTC 700 and noticed something interesting. This new round at Alsace has the second-highest payout for any WTC 700 event, with the round at Le Mans paying the most with 550k. Meanwhile, the third highest-paying round at Mt. Panorama pays 165k - almost a full 100k less in credits for placing first compared to this new round at Alsace, which offers 250k.
That's a boredom tax. Bribing you to drive inferior tracks to Bathurst.

Today I have a funny little challenge for you.
I know it's not for everyone for well-known reasons but I cried tears of joy while driving ;) so you might enjoy this as well.
Here we go :
Can you do the Toyota Land Cruiser Special Event at Fisherman's Ranch in a time faster than 3:30 ? And can you do it without ANY ! contact to cars, walls, fences, clouds etc. ? And thus receive the Clean Race Bonus ?

I predict it will take a little time, it might take some credits and it takes smooth inputs, patience, wise decisions and a bit of foresight.
Atm I can only post the race result board and a photo but I've saved my replay and will upload it in-game tomorrow.
Interested ?

The track marshals (fun police) noticed that I got 2mm too close to a cloud. They took the clean race bonus, invalidated the lap and demanded I wait in the pits for 3 minutes to calm down. If they keep this up, I'm calling the @smoothbore12 Police.

But in slightly more seriousness, that looks freakishly quick. How many upgrades did you throw at the Land Cruiser? All of them? Engine swap?

Time to do some testing and regretting...

Everything !
It's a fully upgraded engine-swapped Cruiser ...
However, I don't think this is necessary ( I just wanted to ), might even be counterproductive.
It's that you're immediately at the physical limits of grip and control like you simply can't corner faster than what the tires allow and with the suspension of the car it's a real horror trip at times producing eye cancer. But ...
It's been the fun I had hoped for ! :D
Good luck, enjoy your skydive !

When I was slowly upgrading the Land Cruiser to win on stock~ish power, I noticed that the Stage 3 weight reduction made the little offroader prone to side-to-side instability. It didn't like the LSD upgrade either. It produced Super Duper Understeer - as in, when I got on the power for a left turn, my Land Cruiser would veer right

For this run, I didn't bother with the weight reductions. I also started with the Low RPM Supercharger because low end torque is always the answer to everything, even when it most definitely is not.

Oh and the side-to-side shaking was still nasty whenever I slid off the path onto the rougher terrain. RIP VR users:ill:

Fun Fact: I binned it spectacularly on multiple occasions and still got the Clean Race Bonus. I believe as long as you don't touch the opposition, and you refrain from doing a barrel roll, you'll get the bonus.

I now need to use this to harass the denizens of the Hypercar Parade and maybe Alsace 700PP...

No laugh / cringe at your driving. Applause to you - that's been a very good run ! The most obvious thing to me watching your replay was that you've been way more courageous across the jumps than me. Daredevil ! And thanks for your descriptions, for a moment I thought you were talking about my own experience.

Truth : Isn't it one of the best things here that you can very easily bin it spectacularly ?

Funny that you mention WTC 700 and Hypercars. I did the Le Mans race yesterday night finishing first ... and now look at this :

I must admit I was a bit disappointed because at FM6 the Land Cruiser isn't that impressive anymore. I ran FM6 for the first 4 laps with extreme short shifting and coasting, went to the pits and finished the race at FM5 with a second stop in between.

The Legend of Nurb GP and the Track Fae

Sector one feels like entering the Torment Nexus, because before the start of every race, the Driver-Hating Track Gnomes (fae) slather the middles and exits of corners with grease. The Driver-Hating Track Fae also cast a spell on all the apexes to make them shift in time and space every time a driver goes through, so that drivers are never quite sure where those apexes actually lie.

Because the Driver-Hating Track Fae thrive on traction loss, I have come prepared with the weapon designed to counter their traction-stealing magic:

The No-Wheel-Drive, Laser Thrust Master Chaparral 2X!!

On Comfort Softs, because the PP System hates it :indiff:

As for the Historic Masters race, I have tuned and tested every eligible car except the Land Cruiser, so I'll be using that.

After some attempts with the tuning and upgrading I already did prior, I can confidently say...no

Gonna assume I need some well Over 230 HP and far more then 430 pp because even with my absolute lightning fast responses to the AI (and far too many near misses to the wall), 3'42s were as good as I was gonna get.

Edit: My selections for tonight:

Niiiice pic. That's tuff!

Hey, I was thinkin' of using the Lexus LF-LC GT VGT, too! I wonder if it's still worth using against that new Opel?
I have no clue. This is going to be my first time driving it. I have a feeling it is going to struggle against the EVs on the straights. Maybe the rubberbanding will save me.

While the car is nowhere near the boat I expected it to be, the Lexus tends to be a very safe bet with its downforce and grip (Especially at a track like the Nurburgring). That and you can use the Racing Mediums on it while you're stuck with the Hards on the Opel.

Decided to test both just to be sure and don't get me wrong, the Opel is more then capable of taking on the field as its basically a racing car like both the Lexus And the Toyota VGTs are. Its easily a car I would recommend alongside those two for these races as given the usual lack of adjustment on the Non-competition Vision GTs, these 3 are gonna be your best bet for taking on the field at a track like this.

In terms of feel though (at least in my hands), the Opel feels more like a Tarmac Special Rally Car with how its not a boat but its still abit weighty whereas the Lexus feels exactly like the lighter GT500 machines in Super GT with how much you can push it and how the front behaves alot like a High Downforce car does in the way it points.
