The Roadster is an open-topped version of the Stratos concept presented by design company Fenomenon at Geneva's motor show in February - and both cars are due to be shown at the Frankfurt on September 13.

The new Stratos cars are a reinterpretation of Lancia's all-conquering, Ferrari-engined rally icon - but have nothing to do with the Itailian marque or its owner the Fiat Group.

Instead it's the creation of Fenomenon, which patented the Stratos name after it discovered Fiat's rights had lapsed. The company is now hoping to do a deal with a major car manufacturer to start limited production.

too bad those concepts are fugly as hell.

I'll take the original, thanks.

Its a Shame Fiat and Lancia themselves could not do anything themselves, but I dont understand the point in reviving the name. Leave the car as a timeless piece of classic automobile history.

Ferrari is supposedly in talks with them to let them use bits from the 360 Modena to make it an authentic Lancia.

The Dino has been rumored for a while now...and it will be facing stiff competition, as that market suddenly got very crowded.

Cayman
Baby V-8 Aston Martin
Base 911
hell, the new C6 Z06 looks to fit the same price, but blow them away performance wise.

Should be interesting to see it play out.

Just added a teeny weeny little detail.

I've never been a big Audi fan...I don't really like AWD in my Performance Cars...

How much is the R9 supposedly to sell for though?

60 grand in the UK.

successor to the popular 'entry-level' Ferrari 206/246 Dino of the late 1960s/early '70s is under development, reports independent enthusiasts' website italiaspeed.com. This will be in a similar spirit to the original - aimed specifically at the US market - and have a target price of around 100,000 euros. It will be positioned to compete against the likes of the Aston Martin V8 Vantage and Porsche 911 Carrera S.

Italiaspeed reports that the new Dino will have an all-new ultra-lightweight V6 engine, developing between 380bhp and 400bhp; this will also be used in the next-generation Maserati Coupe and Spyder, and could even feature in top-end Alfa Romeo models by the end of the decade. This engine will be mid-mounted in an aluminium spaceframe structure, developed by specialist firm Alcoa, which also worked on the bodies of the 360 Modena, F430 and 612 Scaglietti Ferraris. Styling will be by Pininfarina, and this is expected to take a gently retro theme reviving memories of the earlier Dino.

There have been further, and conflicting, reports that the new entry-level Ferrari will share a version of the 'Premium' Alfa 159/Brera platform with the next-generation Maserati Spyder; this so-called 'Project California' would produce an even cheaper Ferrari, though of course, these things are relative& However, Ferrari is said to be extremely concerned that such a model could devalue its brand, and the stand-alone Dino is the more likely outcome. A concept is expected to make its debut in 2007.

I would definitely say the Dino is more likely.

It would be neat to see a new California...but I don't expect it.

Oh, and damn, 60 Grand over there huh.

Thats what, 120 over here?

Lord knows Audi won't make it much cheaper if they bring it over here...

Still moves the C6 Z06 into a lower price bracket, while remaining in the same or higher performance bracket...

Theres one or two people who are okay wwith the fact that cars like the Corvette are only cheap and a good bargain in the US who are American, butgenerally they don't understand that.

I agree with you. And if anybody's going to revive it, I'd like to see it done by Lancia.

the original's an ugly mother too, it's just steeped in history.

I think it's a cool car, defo but I still don't think it's a pretty car by any means. Maybe not as ugly as these newer ones though.

People just can't remember that cars arn't a uniform MSRP throughout the clobe..

that's funny..

It works both ways, for one...how much would a TVR be over here if you could even get it road legal?

and...

Dun dun dun.

I was talking about Models being sold in the states, the Cayman, the 911, and I've heard the R9 and DB9 V-8 are both slated to come over here.

Naturally the new Z06 is more expensive over there than here (nearly twice the cost after conversion, sheesh!)...but we can't get the cars that it competes with pricewise for the bargains you get...

Not to mention the cars that it competes with performancewise are expensive no matter where you go.

They arn't that expensive in Japan, so you can't answer that, importing one costs a lot but you can't compare imports. Generally your spot on though, it does work both ways but TVR's a bad example since they arn't on sale in the US. The cars the Z06 competes with are more expensive or less expensive than the Z06 dpending on where you go, wheverthat is they will be expensive because bargain or not, 60k is a lot of cash, but there are plenty for less in countries outside the US and none I can think of inside the US.

That thing is a disgrace! Why are they trying to make it look futuristic? they better not even think about a remake of the Delta HF Integrale

They don't own the rights to the Delta, Lancia do. I really don't like that split windscreen.

And Lancia IS bringing back the Delta... looks like Italian cars are about to get the same "retro-reaming" that American cars are currently getting.

ND4SPD
Holy short wheelbase! That thing wouldn't be that stable at all!

that's probably the whole point of the new car.   righteous homage to one mad sunuvabisch legend.
