It's a shame it's not how it used to be. I've heard a story of someone taking a Le Mans car at 200mph down the M1, which brought about the 70mph speed limit. Just imagine being able to drive your own F1 car to work!

I'm quite glad we have laws and rules that control what can be on the road, I just wished more of them were enforced more often.

It's not whats on the road thats the problem, it's who's driving them. Some idiot in a modified hatchback pulling the handbrake for a laugh is a lot more dangerous than a normal driver in a fast car.

Meh, yes and no. As far as I know, speed is not a factor in determining the legality of a car. On the other hand, lifted trucks with the bumper so high that my face becomes the crumple zone? Yeah, that's against the law in many (if not all) US states but it doesn't get enforced.

US laws when it comes to cars is a big joke, as long as its domestic, no laws are enforced, but hey look at that jdm car, lets send him to the electric chair for not having a sticker on his aftermarket intake. Lol.

According to my uncapitalistic and eastern friendly mentality, US cars are the ones that should be banned on public roads. Boy i hate the PT cruiser. :)

Its not like that in the Peoples Republic of Kalifornia. They don't care where it was made, if it doesn't pass the letter of the law, its illegal. You have to have a sticker on after market engine parts for all vehicles, even those lifted domestic (but probably built in Mexico) disco-trucks. It doesn't matter if a part without a sticker makes the exhaust cleaner than a stickered part, they just look for the sticker.

Even more useless, why dont they fight the drug cartel instead of looking for stickers? Seriously your country (no offence) use your tax dollars for strange things.

Thats not the worst of it. My mom's 300ZX is no longer street legal because it has no place to mount the FRONT license plate. You need to drill two holes in the back of the front bumper near the engine, and put two 5 inch screws to get a license plate down there. I don't get why you need one in the front anyway, as long as you have one on your car's rear bumper I think its fine.

Thats just the governments way to earn easy cash, because they know streetcars owners put money on their cars. I will probably never buy a street car, to much regulations and stuff these days, not worth it. Sure if you have like millions in your account, paying cops to let you go etc, then maybe.

My g/f got a ticket driving my car for having no front plate once. I live in California and CARB should be a **** filtered word. I've done some heavy modding on my car but I've kept all the stock parts in case I ever got cited and had to go in to prove my car is road worthy. My exhaust is somewhat sleeper because it doesn't sound like a typical fart can exhaust. It looks stock, too but has a nice rumble if you get on it.

The funny thing is, compare all this to my completely legal motorcycle. It is stock, has a fairly loud (but technically legal) exhaust, no catalytic converters, and no front plate.

Yes, that is also important when you are modding anything, alwas keep the stock parts just in case. When i modd electronics, i always have "backup" komponents incase i have to send the piece back ;)
