I love the real racing simulation that GT5 offer but sometimes I like to get away from that and do some street Racing. Unfortunately GT5 does not offer anything remotely close to that. So I have to get up and pop in my PS2 copy of Tokyo Extreme racer. I just like the aspect of free roaming a city's highway and encounter random people who I can high beam and initiate a race against. Just imagine a free roaming enviroment (like PSN HOME) and people can just interact with each other and race on a crowded highway. With GT5 physics, graphics, and night and weather influenced races this can be epic. The reward system could be cars or cash. What doo you guys think about this Feature as a DLC if possible??? They can release new section of Highways as new DLC's I would like to know what peoples opinions are.

Tdu2 sounds like what you want apart from the physics part

LOL, this is something way beyond DLC. GT5 is a big enough game with only 200 premium cars and already pushing the limits. Look at GT5's graphics' and the games your mentioning. Wait until PS4

I doubt this would ever happen. Kaz drives race cars and has massive respect for cars and racing. I'm sure he knows to keep racing on the track.

Maybe organize a free run online on some city tracks? Still running laps, but...not sure you'll get any closer.

You will get lambasted here for mentioning it yet Kaz has mentioned a free roam idea which is basically what you're talking about.

I like the idea but alot of people here are very small minded

BTW tdu2 would be alot like this minus the physics

I'm not sure "free roam" equals "street racing".

Going from "driving simulator" to "illegal activity" simulator is a big jump in many ways.

With the number of manufacurers they have to please, I doubt we'll ever see any kind of street racing in GT. Honda, for one, doesn't like you to see their cars getting chased by the police, hence why there are no Hondas in NFS Undercover.

Not to mention many people connect street racing with ricers. If I was Ferrari, I doubt I would my cars to be associated with ricing.

Need For Speed going professional, Gran Turismo going renegade..

Kaz has said that he wishes to implement a freerun mode.

Maybe he could add street racing to it:D

I don't think you understand how adding more areas to a game works... when it comes to what a system can do only what it does at any one time counts. It's not like racing 16 premium cars at once maxing out the consoles abilities means there's nothing left for another mode where a differnt kind of thing happens...

Well he had talked about a free roam mode in different cities but he did specify that you would have to follow driving laws... of course it opens up the opportunity for street racers...

He didn't technically say any of that. A fan asked him via Twitter "...wouldn't it be awesome if there was a free-roaming mode in the cities where you would have to respect lights and speed limits, and you would be able to visit the stores you want."

Yamauchi answers that "it's one of the thing he wanted to do in GT5 but wasn't able to."

So, a fan asked him a very specific question and Kaz answered vaguely that he wasn't able to do it...any then the whole thing was translated to English.

I wouldn't read too much into that. At all.

What I meant from free Roaming is probably different than what most of you are thinking. Im referring to something similiar to Tokyo Xtreme Racer. Free Roaming on the Highway and looking for potential racers to race. Im not talking about Free roaming in Cities and obeying the traffic laws. This give GT5 a different competitive side where Tracks rules are not applied in Street Racing. I dont know why I would get blasted for mentioning Street Racing. Its just another mode that give GT5 a broader appeal. If you are into Track Racing and following Track rules play the modes you been playing, but if you want a change than you have the option to do Street Racing.

me and my friend line up and do street racing on GT5, its a lot of fun. 0-200 mph easy test. although, I can't imagine you guys don't already know about this. its one of the variants of SSR11 or whatever. the one that has insanely long straights

I'd like to be able to set A-B on any track with all sorts of obstacles.

Free roam would be great, but don't imagine we'll see that until GT6.

We will be lucky if this shows up on GT6. I'm all for it.

If TDU2 had better physics and was released with the bug fixes it would be a 10/10 game IMO. But just pop on Tokyo night tracks and go in loops lol.

It was always a dream of mine to have a street racing game with GT's physics.

Sometimes, for a change, I want to race my cars through an open city like MC:LA. It's a whole different game/experience than racing on a circuit. I think it's actually a scarier experience.

If not PD, I hope another developer would attempt a street racing game with realistic physics.

Seeing how things are with GT5 currently, it would have to be its own game.

This free roaming style in GT5 is my dream too, and i know it's Kaz dream too :) ...but to make it more fun, i will add POLICE Pursuit... u know like NFS Hot Pursuit combined with NFS Underground + Midnight Club L.A etc... it would be fun :)

And don't forget to add pedestrian, motorcycles, trucks, bus, etc... full city details...

Oohhh maaaan want it so bad! :)

GT5 is only 20gig at the biggest.. pd didn't even fill out one single layered BR disc.

Maybe PD will join forces with Rockstar (?) and make GTA-GT.. that would be too much fun..

It will also be cool if like in PSHome you have a person which you use a contoralr to move and like you have to walk to your car and stuff like that. For example lets say like in TDU you can by houses but you can have like warehouses and normal houses and you have to walk from car to car and can just walk around the city or get a ride from a friend.

i seriously HATE games like grand theft ******.

HOWEVER after thinking of the idea, i would quite like it, to be able to "visit" friends online and drive in a pack to the ring to start the race.
Something community like where you are permanently connected (instead of GT life screen) could definately improve GT6 or 7.
Implementing such things (City, Highways, surroundings, rules, policemen with radar :P etc.) takes a serious amount of effort though (aka read "years") (besides the usual work for tracks, cars and tuning etc.)

Yeah thats what I mean and like you sit in the pasange seat while your friend drives.

I'd like the ability to make street circuits, not street racing (thats what NFS games apart from the Shift series are for). Maybe utilise Google Street view to make tracks around where you live!

Autobahn, anyone?

That way, there'd be free roaming mode with all the speed you want, nothing illegal about racing someone to 200mph there.

oh, there IS an autobahn trophy already after all:sly:
