I know the topic on tyres has been discussed many times before, but there never seems to be a definite conclusion on it.There are those who support Sport tyres and those who support the comfort softs as representing street/stock tyres on super sports cars.So could anyone shed light on this subject?
Im running it on comfort softs at the moment, all aids excpet ABS off and the rear tyres dont even smoke when I launch it at 6k..

Just choose the tire you feel is right. Who cares what anyone else says.

it depends on the car, BHP and track. i normally stay within the set of tires it come stock with.... if it come with comfort i use comfort hard-soft, if it comes with sport i use sport hard-soft, i only use racing tires of a race car..... also if you over upgrade a car you will need better tires it control it

I put racing softs on ALL of my cars...

try to use sport tires... you will find its better to tune you car.... racing tires are like pushing the easy button.... do you use skid recovery on to?

No ive got it off.

Which is dull as hell.

Not necessarily. I actually like putting a pair of racing tires on and trying to drift with them. Have a look at some of my pics here.

Sorry if the link did not work.

That's hardly realistic...
Lol and going 300mph in my x1, hitting a wall, and speeding away immediately is soooo realistic.

I've try diferents setups, and finaly confort soft are ok for supercars (enzo / veyron / murciellago sv...(cars over 500/600hp)

confort medium are ok for car with 250 to 500 hp

confort hard are for cars with less than 250 hp and vintage cars

With theses setup you are close to the real thing (cars with factory setup), and you are close to the reals time from fastedlaps.com

But if you are looking for performance try sport hard or sport med (sport soft are too grippy and fell arcady), it's like wearing semi slicks on your car, race track only

The youtube video with the guy driving a M3 on the nurburing says that the confort med feels like the real car

Thanks, sounds like a good idea to compare with fastestlaps. Will give it a shot :)

EDIT;I set 7.37 on the ring with a lightly modded(only intake and exhaust) murcielago and the real time is 7.40,so I think the comfort softs are quite accurate for street tyres.

Your the one that brought the games 'realism' into our conversation. So you think im being unrealistic for putting racing tires on my 875 HP murcielago or my 900 HP ZR1? After all the point of GT5 is to RACE right? So why am i being unrealistic for putting RACING tires on my 850+ HP super car that i use for RACING? last time i checked, more grip = better, so im gonna add more grip.

I did not,I am referring it as being unrealistic for STREET cars to run RACE tyres because we are talking about STREET cars on THIS thread. That is the point.REALISTICALLY do STREET car's run race tyres? And 875hp?Big deal, there are high hp cars that run street tyres like the hennessey Ford GT1000 and Bugatti Veyron. That's because race tyres do not qualify for STREET use;ie they're not legal.Get it?And to remind you THIS thread is about STREET tyres for STREET cars so when you talk about fitting RACE tyres on a STREET car thread it IS going off topic.End of story.

i mix it up depending on the car when i set them up. Some of my heavily moded street cars have race hards only because they are very hard to control. The more mild cars i have sports h/m/s on them. Go with what feels good but i agree race soft on all cars is not realistic for this game. I find like most people the game is no contest and with race soft you 1st from the start and the rest of the race is a time trial.

yep, I've find similar results after few testing (on a enzo), but for similar results the tires have to be warm, so try it on the second lap.

Glad to help, send me a pm if you need further informations

Are we street racing in GT5? No, were track racing.

The AI is so horrible on this game that your in first from the beginning regardless of tire preference. That pretty much DOES make the races a time trial, i use racing softs cause i like setting new lap times. Besides, its not like im putting racing softs on a daihatsu midget so i have no idea why you and the op are on me about realism, GT5 is NOT realistic anyways, that ship has sailed. Look at my garage anyways, its mostly filled with high performance super cars and race cars, i get rid of the crappy 5000$ prize cars, when i said i put racing softs on all my cars, i meant all my cars that i fully upgrade and race with, which is only high performance super cars and race cars.

I buy ALL tires for my favourite cars, from the stock set up to racing softs - to be prepared for any situation :)

But I like sport tires best, you can still feel the difference between cars and have to drive better. Racing softs make all the cars feel the same.

Track racing with STREET cars,i want them to be an accurate representation of what we get out of showrooms.race tyres have their place like on the x2010 or my corvette RM but not on a near stock lp640,which is what this thread is about.

We are NOT on you about "realism", we are talking about STREET cars on this thread and you're banging on about race tyres. If you want to talk about race tyres this is NOT the place. How many times must I explain:ouch: .And yes the AI are stupid so I race against them when they have much more powerful and racy cars.I used my sport hard outfitted LP640 to challenge mclarens and team oreca vipers and get a laugh from it.So no,races tend to be a race, not a time trail.Because there is something called a time trial for that:indiff: .

Sports tires seem to suit most best,Im guessing they're what you'll find OEM on a 911 GT2.And yeah, racing softs do that, too damn sticky.

This is the first time you said anything about it being near stock, if its near stock then by all means slap some sport tires on it. And a RM corvette is the EXACT same thing as a upgraded street corvette just with added downforce, so since theyre the same i guess its fine to put racing tires on a street vette?

K your officially an idiot. The thread was about tires for a murcielago, i contributed by saying ive got racing softs on mine along with all my other super cars/race cars. Then YOU DID bring the realism into it by replying to my contribution post saying 'thats hardly realistic'. Why does what tires i use matter so much to you anyways?

you're the idiot,I mentioned at the FIRST post "street/stock tires for murcielago" get it through your thick skull. So naturally when you talk about race tyres on a street car thread asking for street tyres you imply you have a street car and are fitting race tyres to it,which is 'hardly realistic'.In case youre dense I'll repeat once more, this thread is about STREET cars on STOCK tyres (mentioned in the first post) so dont come around trying to argue with everyone about race tyre this or that and go off topic.Xagt393 and KARTMAN may be new members but they have READ that im talking about showroom stock tires (as mentioned in the first post) and then UNDERSTAND im talking about street tyres and help out instead of trying to start a fight and pick a bone with everyone when you don't undersand what's going on.LOOK at the first post and THINK as I really am tired from trying to explain to you!! :ouch::ouch::ouch: Most people on the thread understand and have helped out!! You really don't get it!!?? .Oh and fyi,an RM corvette is completely diffferent from a stock vette,It's much lighter and has a far wider track and tyres as well as completely adjustable suspension and full roll cage. Its CLEARLY designed as a race car.

I did read your first ****ing post, i know your talking about street cars. The thread is about tires on a murcielago, im only gonna explain this to YOU one more time encase YOUR dense. I replied stating the tires that I use, street tires or not, i tried to contribute to your thread, just encase you hadnt tried using racing tires, i submitted my reply so if you hadnt, you could ask me how it was. but you decided to be a **** about it and get on me about realism, if youd like i can go back and quote the post for you. After that i stated that this game isnt realistic at all. YOU started this fight, YOU picked a bone here, i was just contributing to your damn thread, so get THAT through YOUR thick skull, arent you asians supposed to be smart ? jesus.

And EVERYTHING that is in a RMed corvette, you can add in the tuning shop you idiot, you can add the racing tires, you can add the weight reduction, you can add the body kit for more downforce. jesus man, How are you not understanding this ? for the last time, i was trying to contribute to your thread and YOU started an argument getting on me about 'realism', go back to page one and ****in look for yourself, you short memoried douche.

You're still not getting the point of the topic are you? Does a Murcielago come out of the factory with racing tires? NO it doesn't, because then it wouldn't be STREET legal.

The whole point of the thread is to figure out which tires realistically represent what the car would come with from the factory, which would allow it to be a STREET car. Nobody tests their cars on the ring with racing tires because that wouldn't say too much about STREET performance now would it? So as mentioned by several folks before, how would racing tires relate to street tires? They don't....
