Stuck On Nascar School (Special)

I'm after any advice/tips that anyone can give to complete the last race of the Nascar series on special.

I have completed all the others with a mixture of bronze, silver, and gold, but the very last one (the full race) I just cannot get anywhere near the rest of the field. I manage to take the first car ok but once I hit the first corner, the rest of the cars just pull away, and I just cannot get anywhere near close enough to slip stream the rest of the pack. I seemed to do ok on the others, but this one just seems impossible, I must of attempted it nearly 50 times :(:(:(

So yeah.. any help anyone can give would be much appreciated!!
 
Pre patch you could turn ABS off and that in turn would turn stability off, now you are hindered as Daytona I believe it's on? Or Indy, you could blast round pretty fast and be in the lead by the first lap or so. Try drafting as much as possible :)
 
I'll have a try to see if I can turn it off, do you do that in the pause menu, or have they defintely removed that?

Also what is drafting??

Drafting is basically where the slower driver goes behind the driver in front, because the car in front is cutting into the air, the car behind gets 'clean air' basically reducing drag, increasing acceleration, therefore increasing speed, if it is enough, it helps to overtake in such types of racing where each car has very similar characteristics, e.g nascar and karting where each vehicles is very similar, it happens in just about every motorsport (e.g karting, which I do) I just know this stuff because I'm a car/speed/anything with an engine type guy :dopey:👍
 
Ahh that's what i'd call slip-streaming :)

I can do that to get past the first car, but by the first corner they are already too far ahead :boggled:
 
Check out stunes's video. I asked him to make it and it helped me get gold after many tries. It is doable with abs.
 
you can delete the patch and beat the nascar events but do not update GT5 on your main User account, make a second temporary account (user 1) and update it there. because if you delete the patch and update it on your main account it will ruin/ corrupt your save.

edit: also try to map the RA controls and turn your Brake bias to 0/0 to get bronze/silver. for gold delete patch
 
It took me quite a few tries to do it too, but with careful drafting or slipstreaming if you prefer, it can be done. Try to remember the paths that the ai take, if the path that you choose to pass the ai doesn't work, try another route. And also I did it after the 1.10 patch. Practice, practice, practice.

Its hard to draft in Karting! (Real Life) I tried and it was harder, you have to get right behind the guy. Though thankfully I'm small so all the big guys block the air for me.

Thats where my speciality is, I can tailgate/draft/slipstream right behind anybody (thats IF I'm too slow :sly:) and I can just put pressure on the guy right ahead of me it's fun :) I love racing my karts (it's quite expensive though, a spare go - kart, about 10 sets of spare racing / wet tires, the tools, spare engines, spark plugs, everything)

this doesnt work. i tried it. if you wanna try just back up your game save.

what i did was.... as soon as it gives you the car out of the pits, was swerve right into traffic and get rear ended for speed. if i remember right, if 3 cars are in front of you then you can win easy. if only two are by you, they are gone. this is the dumbest challenge ever since no nascar has asm or abs. nice 'real driving simulator'

stunes vids on utube are real good, but this one is pre update when you could turn off abs and go 10+ mph faster through the corners.
 
Sorry in iPhone and dont know how to link. Stune posts videos of licenses on YouTube through here. Do a search for his name and you should see it. Watch the videos a few time and keep trying. The draft is really important for the first and second car. You must match him by the turn.
 
I asked Stune to post a video after the update and he did. Using DS3 too. Don't give up it is possible.

then i recant about his old vid. i did a quick search and couldnt find it, but the few of his i watched were very good. if he posted one on this after patch im sure its good.
 
:idea:When you exit the pit lane, two cars go past you. Let them pass. Draft them and pass them. You will have enough speed to draft the other cars, pass them and win.:)(for the pit lane event)
