I am a noob, first and foremost. i've only been playing this game for week. i have all of the licenses, silver on everything except for six golds. i am stuck because i cant find an affordable car that can win the gt world championship. i only have 300,000 something credits. this is because i spent most of it on my best car, a chapparal 2j, tuned to 1120 hp. i just dont know what to do. i tried it out, both in b-spec and and a-spec, but it just cant compete against those gt1s and that white bmw with dell printed on the side (this one wins most). my 2j is lighter than every other car in the tournament, and has more horsepower and rpm. 0.700 something power to weight ratio. what do i do? oh, and the option of winning the rsc rally raid car over and over again is out of the question...unless the amount i have to earn is less than 2,000,000. any advice? tuning? which races to go to? help me...please.

buy a mercedes. enter the silver arrow race. use CLK race car with a turbo upgrade to win the German touring car championship. sell prize car for 750,000. repeat. its an idea to find something fun to do while its b-speccing, but something you can easily stop doing to start the next race and flick it back into 3X mode

is that an endurance event? if it is...i've only got 21% done. i cant seem to advance past that point...unless i get a serious race car like the gt one or speed-8...which, as you already know, i cant afford.

nope. not an endurace. its a small 5 race event using opera paris, Midfield raceway, High speed ring reverse, Nurburgring and Fuji Speedway 2005GT. the car you win is a CLK GTR. sell it a few times and buy a decent 4 million credit car like the pescalarolo

thank you...now i can be at peace.

EDIT: one last question, is that a one make race or european event? i'm not playing right now...that's why i dont know where all these races are.

It's in the European Hall events - the Deutsche Touring Car Meisterschaft.

Do a search for the words "quick money" and you should find several other methods of making cash.

It's a European race.

And don't bother selling the prize CLK-GTR – you can use it to win the GT World Championship series. :) (Or, so I'm told – I've only tried the first race, Tokyo, and I lost on pit strategy, so next time I play I'm going to install harder tires. At Tokyo, the AI pits on Lap 9, by the way, so don't get frustrated by how far out they are at the beginning.)

Yes, the CLK-GTR can win the GTWC if you're a pretty good driver. However, I'd imagine that selling 4-5 of them and buying the Pescarolo/787B is a better bet.

BTW, otto, once you hit 25% and can run the enduros, you can B-Spec the El Capitan event every night when you go to bed and wake up every morning to a Minolta Toyota prize car. It also sells for 743,749 credits.

I once had eleven of them piled up in my garage...

Well, I bought the Mazda 787B and won all the races with it, but some were rather hard.

I would suggest two things:
1) take your favorite 200-300 HP car and win the Special Events Easy, Capri Rally. Sell the prize car. Every 4 days... 1-race, 2-race 2nd race, 3 get car, 4 sell car... The Toyota RCS Rally Raid car selld for 265,xxx credits!
2) Get to 25% if you are not there yet. Use your chaparrel for the Nurnbergring 24 hour endurance. Once you have it set to outpace the others, just let it go on B-Spec mode for the 24 hrs. I believe thios race gives you the best prize mone.. Do the two Sarth 24hr too. Between the prize cars and money, you should figure something out. The prize car for the 24hr ring is the Polyphony Formula Gran Turismo also. If all else fails, use this car to win with.

You should be able to win with the following cars:
Minolta Toyota 88C-V............Prize from El Capitan 200
Audi R8............................Prize from Le Sarth I 24hr
Bentley Speed 8................Prize from Le Sarth II 24 hr
Saber Mercedes C 9..........Prize from Forula Gran Turismo World cup
Nissan R92CP..................Prize from Fuji 1000 km
Jaguar XJR-9 ..................Buy 3,500,000
Mazda 787B....................Buy 3,500,000
Pescarolo Curage C60.............Buy 4,500,000
Playstation Pescarolo C60......Buy 4,500,000
Toyota GT-One....................Buy 4,500,000
Used Nissan R92CP (week 100).......Buy 1,224,999

I'm not sure about others, there are likely others that will win this series, but I almost certain any of the above will.

Don't sell this car unless you have more than one. On my 'value' chart, it is in 4th place.

Top ten cars by A-Spec point value:

1) 2004 Formula Gran Turismo at 1548 points
2) 1989 Sauber Mercedes C 9 Race Car at 1523 points
3) 1992 Nissan R92CP Race car at 1515 points
4) 1989 Minolta Toyota 88C-V Race Car at 1510 points
5) 1988 Jaguar XJR-9 Race Car at 1487 points
6) used 1992 Nissan R92CP Race car at 1453 points
7) 2003 Bentley Speed 8 at 1444 points
8) 2001 Audi Race Car at 1432 points
9) 2003 Pescarolo Curage C60 at 1431 points
10) 2004 Playstation Pecsarolo C60 at 1424 points

personally I like the audi the best. I know it isn't THE best but I like it the best.

on a side note, did anyone ever figure out if the sauber is available in the ntsc-us version?

I used the Nissan 92CP and Mazda 787B Black Beauties that I bought secondhand for 1,400,000 credits or so each, on day 694. Use the German Touring Car spam to earn the money. Either one will do, with a turbo upgrade my b-spec dummy took it in his stride:)

Yes it is. I am running the USA/NTSC version. It is the prize car for Extreem; Formula Gran Turismo World Cup.

What do you mean "total A-Spec value"??? Sorry I'm abit lost
DJ
Asking me? Now I'm lost. I don't recall using the word "total."

The value I assign the cars are for a chart I'm making. I will be able to determine what car to race and get 200 A-Spec points per race. When you race the car against itself, you get 60 A-Spec points if you win the race. You can test this with a new Saleen S7, no changes, taking it to the Saleen S7 Club. Anyway, the point differences between cars are a 1:1 effect. If I take the Sauber Mercedes no oil, tire, power, or downforce change to the Formula GT race, I am offered 85 points. It would be 60 points if I take an unmodified Formula GT in. Since the Sauber is a lesser car by 25 points, I am offered 60+25 or 85 points. Generally, the points offered are an indication of the races difficulty, but that is not always true.

And, of course, there is always the Amalfi (Easy) race in special conditions that wins you a car worth 265,000 with very little effort :) When I win a new car, I usually take it for a spin around Amalfi to test it out and win the car while I'm at it.

Theres LOADS of cars that can winthe GTWC. The Panoz GTR-1 can win easilly, not the fastest LMP or GT1 car but you don't need the fastest to win when you can win if you use a tuned GT500 car.

Yup, Special Conditions Easy - Costa di Amalfi - two 2 lap races (2 laps of both the forward and reverse circuits) against very easy opposition (Lancia Delta or Renault 5 Turbo road car I think) and a nice Toyota RSC Rally Raid car every time... easy way to make a fortune... do this 4 times (a grand total of just 16 laps!!!) and you have 1,000,000 Cr.... nice!

It helps that Amalfi is a nice track to drive on, I love it. I like Citta maybe a bit more, but I can't stand the 5 sec penalties and I tend to get them more on Citta and also anyone noticed you can't Race Citta ANYWHERE else but the special condition hall with the penalties. Sucks eggs.

It is such an inaccurate indication of difficulty that I just ignore it anymore. You have to test each race configuration individually. Trying to figure out how to set up a challenging race that can still conceivably be won remains the most frustrating aspect of GT4.

A sliding difficulty scale in GT mode, plus the option to choose the field of cars in each race, would have made it simple, but PD chose not to include those options.

The arcade mode is best for setting up challenging races like that, try selecting a good tyre when you choose you're car then change it before the race, the AI willbe on the good tyres and you'll be on whatever you change to. Also you get to play with the power and weight of you're car and the resulting races can be very good.

If you car is this much more powerful and so much lighter, you are probably loosing on the handeling side. Try tuning your suspension for best performance.

Well, except for a few races that have glitches, the value is determined by the average value of the opposing cars. When you know the cars values, you can decide which ones to use for maximizing your A-Spec points.

There is, actually, a way you can win the championship almost effortlessly. Just get to 25% (win some more manufacturer races, or enter the chaparall into some american events) and win the Nurburgring 24hr. Your Chaparall will win that easily. All your opponents will be 400-500hp tuning cars, so just leave it on b-spec for 24hrs and you'll have yourself an F1 car, for free! I've one the GTWC with it about 5 times, and you will too once you get it! Good luck 👍
