I highly applaud this.

Wish that would happen here. The two biggest 'selfish jerk' driver groups in inner Sydney are guys in BMW 3 series and Land Rover Discoverys.

Guess what combination of these vehicles they're graduating to?

Good. Obstruction of view. It is illegal. Good to see some cops out enforcing the law for a change. They're supposed to pull over people who drive with their handicapped placards on their mirror, but God forbid they disturb the handicapped.

I just don't know where to find that info.

Not only does Ontario require two license plates, but they enforce it better than any jurisdiction in North America with very few exceptions. It's good to hear you actually get pulled over for that - in several of states, it's not enforced except when a black man is driving a car through a "suspicious" neighborhood.

This is my opinion on the 70mph motorway limit in the UK.
These limits were made up 40 or more ago when very few cars could actually make that speed. Now adays everyone can pretty much make that speed so surely it makes sense to in crease the speed limit accordingly.....do they......no.
Also my local force is also beginning to introduce 20 mph speed limits in residential areas......have you ever drove at 20mph for suspended periods of time?!? Its ridiculous.
And finally........SPEED CAMERAS. I understand teh need, but there is this one set of cameras on the M4 (my local motorway) that are really annoying, when there is soccer in Cardiff, everyone travels on the M4, and alot of dum people drop to 30mph to go past cameras that flash at 70...Its mad and causes masive tail backs.

Yeah - I was in a tailback on the A1 just before Christmas. The limit is 70mph, the average traffic speed in both lanes was 35-45mph and yet when we passed a speed camera, the guy alongside me leapt onto his brakes. Oaf.

Interestingly, a speed camera which is set up perfectly to catch speeding cars at 1mph over the limit (yes, they exist) can completely ignore a driver going 10mph over the limit. It's called a lorry - they have 60mph limits on motorways. Now which is more dangerous? A car at 71mph or a lorry at 70mph?

Speed cameras are anti-car? No, surely not!

just another way for the police to make money. But they still incist on dropping speed bumps in the middle of the road, one-lane give-way sytems and then continue to have a fleet of mobile cameras... Its Big Brother..NNNNOOOOO

Oh I have SO much fun with speed bumps. We've got some new ambulance-friendly ones near us - designed to stop people speeding past the two schools there, but narrow enough that an ambulance can drive over them without noticing.

Everyone does the trick of driving in the middle of the road - but noooo, they hit both instead... So now no-one uses this very useful road. Except me. My car doesn't notice the speed bumps at all - I still don't break 30mph up there, but I CAN, if I want, do any speed up there. I actually passed someone up there the other day - which I'd never have done before.

Traffic-calming my a(rtichoke).

We got them in our area aswell. Have you ever been in a wide wheel base vehicle following a fiesta? its so annoying, the fiesta's go like 10 MPH over them. And my dad (in the previa) does about 40. My neighbours worse, he had a 2.0 turbo Rover 75 i think. It scares the **** out you when he goes over them at 50/60

My old car - still in the garage unsold - is a Fiesta. And I'ver never done 10mph over a speed bump in my life... :D

And i bet you just pulled that story out of your a**.

The thing is that I am pretty sure that around here we don't need one legally.

I know you don't have to have one in california...not sure elsewhere in the US, in Australia it's illegal to not have both plates.

silly things like, no washer fluid for winscreen, minor oil leaks (minor as in almost non existant) no 'H' pattern on your gear knob, no 'unleaded fuel only' sticker on the pertol gate, ANY aftermarket engine components (zero tolerance there) and the most ridiculous to date, having bird poo on the passenger window. police here are hitting car enthusiests hard.

My uncles friend has a few cars, a CM Valiant Regal V8, VX SS Commodore 5.7, 1968 Camaro 5.7 and a Torana 5.7 which he uses for drag racing.

The torana puts out like 580 horses but the car is still all road registrable, the cops pulled him over went through the car with a fine toothed comb, couldn't find anything so they defected it for being too low (the commodore is lower and thats stock yet it isn't defected)

I'm all for cars with real problems being defected (major oil leaks, busted mufflers putting out 120dB, frame damage stuff like that) but this $hits ridiculous.

The cops now in my state have introduced a new rule, on the sly I might add, for Probationary drivers:

Acrue 5 points in a year (We get 12 over 3 years) and bang you walk for 3 months
Consider this, Speed by more than 10km/h (a measly 6mph) and fail to wear a setbelt, or display a P plate (there has to be 2) and there go's ya 5 points

Speeding by more than 10km/h but less than 25 - 3points
Failure to display a P plate - 3points
And not wearing a seatbelt - 3points
Or an improper turn (I got nailed for this one) 2points
You can find out how our offence/demerit points system works here:

Actually, you do, and California enforces it more than any other state or province - that, and their fine is the highest.

If you dno't pay your road tax in time you are imediatley given an 80 pound fine in the post. It's better than havin police walkingh teh streets looking for invalid tax discs but I think the it is abit rapid to have the fine sent straight away. You never know, you might do a Rio Feredinand and forget briefly.

Also seen the new tax disc cameras in the UK. At last a camera that has some use. Theres too many idiots driving around with no tax, MOT, insurance.

was also told that there are new cameras on top of traffic lights to stop people stopping over the white line. If you do its £50 fine and 3 points..........

You are allowed 2 weeks after your previous tax disc has expired before you must get a new one. However, legally all cars must be covered by a current, valid tax disc or a Statutory Off-Road Notification (SORN) which says that your car is off the road and not in use. Now why DVLA can't send out "Tax Disc Detector Vans" to anyone not covered by one or the other on their register I do not know...

pimpin_t - traffic light cameras have been in existence for nearly a decade now - and in fact it is these that are correctly called "GATSOs" and not speed cameras. They detect anyone crossing a white junction line while the traffic signal is on red.

Cops suck, they pulled my dad over for going 3 mph over the speedlimit, prolly cause he has a big red kick ass truck.

No, probably because he has a big red 'not hard to miss' fat ass truck.

Yeah, cops suck. They arrested my cousin because he broke into a house.

3mph isnt much espically when i little toyota civic blew by at like 50, 35mph speedlimit

but lets hope he burns his clutch, loses his brakes, crashes his civic, survives.......and gets a ticket...that make you feel any better? does that dispell the feeling of injustice?or maybe with your dads wallet slightly lighter, you may be able to go as fast as that civic.

Robbing one house isn't that much, especially when there's people who knock off three a night.

Famnie, again piss off.

Oh sir! Your eloquence, wit and wordsmanship - combined with your ability to spell my username - has just cut me down in my stride. I fear I may never be able to post again through this dishonour.
