Stuttering/Picture issues with HD-PVR (Issue resolved)

So as some already know, I've gotten an Hauppauge HD-PVR and have been using it almost frequently (more often for screen captures). Right now though, I'm having a issue where the audio frequently goes out, then comes back. Its been doing this for the few days and I have no idea whats going on. There's also the constant flickering with the picture, which causes the program I use with it (WinTV) to stop repeatidly. I can't even record a video without it stopping then going. Can anyone help me with this issue?



Edit: Thread has been reopened because I've come across this problem once again. It was working fine the day before. Yesterday though, its started to have the display issue again and the exact same issues, like the screen cutting out and cutting back on as well as the lines again:

You've probably done this but: Have you checked for loose wires/connections?

Have you tried uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling them?

Its happening basically everytime I turn it on. When I don't run the program, the audio just cuts out and the screen flickers. The program itself when turned on freezes, then continues. And yes, I checked all connections, even went through the trouble of disconnecting and dusting out everything and it still doesn't work.

Edit: I have both video and pictures of this problem taken from my phone. I'll post those up in a second.

What's the PC it's running in? My previous PC couldn't even attempt HD video, it was too slow. But as mentioned, your best bet is the Hauppauge forums.

I'm running it on a Laptop, An Acer Asphire. Its very capable of HD video (have published several from it) and it works fine.

I would suggest reinstalling the drivers and software(or going to http://www.hauppauge.co.uk to get the latest if not yet installed) to me it looks like a codec issue but I may be wrong.

have you tried changing resolutions outputs and resolutions on the PS3? for instance changing it to HDMI and then back to Component for the HD-PVR?

Edit: Nevermind. Oddly enough after installing all of that and rebooting the Computer two times, it works! Wonder if it would have help to have done that when I first installed this two months ago.

Guess it really won't matter if I get anything back from the forum boards, its no longer doing all that flickering and abrupt cutting out. Guess I can remove the video now.

Have you tried switching the video cable? I had the exact same green lines on my tv when my hdmi cable from my dvr went belly-up.

I'm using a component cable on mine (Doesn't have a HDMI port). Not sure if that would work, but I could try.

Unfortunately, its the only way I'm get any recording from the PS3 because apparently (so from what I hear), you can't record a video from the PS3 with a HDMI cord.

I have no idea about that, but I am 75% sure you have a failing cable.

*facepalm* just remembered I'm using composite, not Component Cables. Shows how much I know

The HDMI is HDCP protected so you can't use it.

You can use PbPrY(red, blue and green plugs) to get the HD.

Seem to still be getting no answers from Hauppauge, not feeling at all good about this ontop of the problem still persisting after again checking all the connections as well as uninstalling and reinstalling everything.

I don't really have another cord I could try. The one currently being used is the only cable I have.

I would suggest getting a new one, if it works it works and it fixes your issue.
If not you have a spare one just in case the original one fails.

Where would I get codecs? Also, the cords are about as new as the box is so its strange they are acting up when I've had them as long as I've had the box.

Uninstall the software that came with it using the HCWclear.exe and reinstall it.
The software has all the codecs.

So, been a while since I last spoke about the problem. After sending it in and getting it back, Hauppauge were unable to replicate the problem I had but by testing out my sister's PS3 (same cord and all, which worked), I think I found the real problem: its my PS3's Multi A/V port. I have no idea what happened to trigger this, but it gives me lines no matter what I do. Now my dad in trying to help had brought me this:

Haven't plugged it in, but I'd like to know if this would work since it would instead use the HDMI port and not the multi A/V port and if it does, how do I get it to work?
