I'm looking for an exhaust for a 04' Subaru Impreza WRX STi. I want something that sounds good, but isn't to loud i do not want to attract to much attention from the police. But alot of quieter exhaust's look to much like stock. I want to find something that looks like the invidia n1 race or even the invidia g200, but with out the very loud noise. I dont think i could handle the drone at highway speeds for to long.

thanks.

Make sure you get unequal length headers. Those are the exhaust systems that make that deep boxer sounds that a lot of Subarus have. If you go equal length, it'll sound terrible but you'll probably get 2-3 hp more.

Sounds like that car has equal length headers, Eric.

That definitely has boxer burble. I know the guy, I'm pretty sure it has the stock (unequal length) headers.

That's definitely the stock header. Too much of a "crackle" to the exhaust for my tastes.

I like the Perrin unit myself. Not too flashy, and it sounds great.

Borla makes very good exhaust systems on a lot of cars. Try to chip (ecu flash) it for $300-600 dollars. Or an intake or intercooler. Those are things I would do before exhaust but I would go with Borla if you do otherwise.

Could be. It doesn't sound anything like my buddy's Outback with an exhaust but that's probably because it's harder to hear over Youtube.

Isn't there an SPT exhaust for that year STI? Might be expensive but I know they sound nice, and don't look like that thing you posted in the first post. Small can mufflers will result is more noise with out extra . I'm really opposed to exhausts that look like that, sorry.
I've had a few APEXI WS systems on various cars and heard it on a few more and that line is still one of my favorites.
There's also another small company that makes good stuff but their name escapes me at the moment.

Is it a turbo outback? Most naturally aspirated Subarus have equal length headers, because the turbo is the reason for making it unequal.

That's not the only Perrin exhaust, either. I know a guy with an ~04 and its a huuuuuge muffler and it sits all crooked.
