I've seen suggestions of a couple Impreza rally cars already, but I honestly would still like to see PD try to give the 1999 Impreza WRC a premium upgrade. Especially since they already had a premium model made of it back when GTHD came out.

Update: I think the reason why PD never added the PS3 modelled Impreza WRC is because they simply must've lost the car model. I mean, why else add the PS2 model Impreza when they had a PS3 one originally made long before GT5's release.

Like I said in the other thread, it's a bit pointless to spend the effords of making a high quality version of it when it's hardly ever used (I don't even think it made it to the final GTHD?).

Had this been any other developer (particularly the one that used to make a very popular car game, the name of which is a quote from Top Gun) I'd say it was definitely going to be a game-price DLC. Because it's PD, it'll either be an update or a DLC you can actually afford. Like I said, I refuse to believe it's not lying around on a hard drive somewhere in the PD offices waiting to be activated :)

Just, please, get the boxer sound at least decently right. I felt kinda sad when I was looking at the '99 Impreza WRC in GT5 making the boxer sound with my "inner voice" only to find out it sounded like.. I don't even know what to call it. It's too high-pitched.

The Boxer Rumble most of us know and love comes from the factory unequal-length exhaust manifold design. I believe the WRC Group N Subarus all use an equal-length exhaust manifold, which would give it better efficiency and performance, at the expense of the more mundane sound. I'm also sure that this is the sound that PD has adopted for all Imprezas in the game with any exhaust upgrade. IMO, I think the "boxer rumble" should be more prominently amplified on the street cars with upgraded cat-backs, and the more inline-4-like sound should only apply to cars equipped with isometric manifolds.

WHY WOULD THEY MAKE THE PREMIUM VERSION OF THIS CAR AND THEN LEAVE IT OUT??!?!??!

I know it has been months since you made the comment, but I felt like giving my opinion here.

I don't think PD had the model lying around at all. I believe that they probably were planning on using it in GT5 like their premium Toyota Celica WRC model they made for GTHD, but they must have lost the model. That can be the only reason they haven't added it in even GT6.

So, I think it's safe to say we'll never see that Premium '99 Impreza WRC model again. The only hope with it now is if PD bother with making a new premium Impreza WRC for GT7.

Well seeing as how it never appeared in the final version of GTHD or GT5 Prologue, but was in GTHD pre-release material, I don't think it was lost. I suppose it's possible, but how often do assets go missing nowadays? In the '80s and '90s stuff like that happened often enough, but today...

What about licensing issues? What if the model was seriously flawed in some way? Just throwing some ideas out there.

I agree that it seems highly unlikely that PD would lose a model so easily, but it's the only possible reason I can think of. I mean, that or maybe they're holding on the model and giving it a refresher for a later GT title.

About the licensing, I don't see how it could be an issue with this car as it's been in GT since 1999 and the PS2 model (which doesn't really have many differences other than the model quality) is in GT6 right now. A flawed model could be a reason, but I honestly think PD would have it sorted out by GT5 if that was the case.

If they were to lose this car model , that would be a big screw up , and we lost such an important car because of it.

Welp, I hope the premium WRC Impreza is around the corner now since PD released a premium 22B Impreza not too long ago.
