As I said in my earlier posts, the first pic is a MY2001-2002 WRX STi. The bottom pic is the same model STi with the Prodrive Performance Pack that is offered overseas. Its not just a WRX that someone "riced" out to look like an STi.

"Riced out?" A WRX has something like 200hp standard, i definitely don't think you can call a car like that riced out, even if it does have on an sti kit.

Here is why. The STi in GT3 is not the same version we have In the US. The are actualy about 5 stock styles over seas. In the US the wrx just has the standard low one like the STi in GT3 and the newer STi's all have the larger "rally style" wing.

True, and at the back, we see a big "S U B A R U"

Good scoobie info all, but I have another question slightly off-topic:

does anyone know how I can get rid of my Big Ugly Wing on my USDM 05 STi? I would really love a plain wrx spoiler or even no spoiler at all. I love the WRC heritage of my car, but a non-functional wing that adds drag and weight just doesn't mesh with my philosophy on cars.

For the UK market the spoiler is normally a clear model identifier.

No spoiler = Standard Impreza GX

Small Spoiler = GX Sport, WRX & WRX SL

Large Spoiler = WRX STi Type UK

Info on the UK range can be found at the following site

However the large spoiler can be fitted as an option to lower spec cars

The JDM WRX STi Spec C has the smaller spoiler

However a different spoiler again can be found on the 350bhp Type 25, a UK specific non-factory model, modified by Litchfield and rated by many as the best version of the Impreza on the market in the UK. Lots of details, pictures and some good info in the 'news' section.

The bottom one (Spec C) has a lot more than just the prodrive wrc bodykit. Follow the links, the Spec C is rated as one of the best 'factory' versions of the Impreza.

It posted a sub 8 min lap at the Nurburgring and is changed from a standard WRX Sti as follows:

As before the Spec C features unique track derived parts amongst which are:
Spec C Engine Oil Cooler
Spec C anti surge fuel pump
Spec C water pump
Lightweight glass
Reduced body weight
Reduced sound deadening
Stiffer roll bars
Roof vent
Deletion of Air Conditioning
Deletion of central locking
Deletion of electric windows and mirrors.

The new MY05 Spec C features:
New under body bracing
Front and rear strut braces
Lighter Aluminium boot lid
Revised engine
Wider 235/17” RE070 Tyres

That Type 25 is a beast! I read in an Evo mag that if you order a Type 25 you can specify which spoiler you want fitted whether you want the stealth look with no spoiler, the JDM look with the little spoiler, the WRC look with the big spoiler or an adjustable carbon fibre wing.

Also note , the comparing of the EVO and STI , that the EVO mr , has attachments and the trailing edge of the roof to create cortex which in turn creates much more downforce when it does reach the spoiler.. just something to note 👍

Although the taller spoiler of the STI will create more downforce, one must note that the spec c's have always carried the smaller spoiler for the most part. You must look at what buyers will be using their car for. the pay off of drag vs downforce...

Also, the spec c features an amazing chassis , which affords it crucial extra seconds. :sly: the last point is just a thought.. but seeing it in races vs other cars of the same power.. lets just say that this fin. is not something to be worrying about.

my god you people are retarded, the top one is normal sti. and the one below it is an STi prodrive. you people must me stupid to think that they are the same car. my god.

My brother might disagree...

Prodrive, a British company (who also build the WRC Imprezas), make left-hand drive road cars since when?

i have no idea. but there is a picture, showing a left hand drive prodrive sti. if you want to take it up with the ppicture thats none of my business

I think you're confusing the Prodrive version with a Prodrive Performance Pack (PPP), as added at the factory.

Guess that beats going to Prodrive then...

Just checking, Ultimatecarpage.com have all of the Imprezas down as Boxer 4s, but the Impreza WRC as a "180 degree V4"... 180 degree V, eh?

You get your information off a severely factually inaccurate website (see above) and think this gives you the knowledge required to say:

Newsflash: Information on the internet is not regulated for the most part and can be false with little consequence.

The car in the bottom picture at the top of this page (and at Ultimatecarpage) has a PPP spoiler. It is NOT a Prodrive Style Impreza.

You had better watch your little tantrums, son, or you're likely to get a spanking. Step 1 to copping a big attitude is having something to cop an attitude about, which you clearly lack. If you're going to come off like an arrogant jackass, you better be very sure that you've got your facts straight. Big mouth and small brain is a very unsuccessful combination.

Calling people 'stupid' when you are incorrect yourself is never a wise move. And in the name of trees, learn to spell before you start telling others that they're retarded. Especially with a sig like 'Killing brain cells since 1999' - as if that wasn't obvious.

Lose the attitude and be poilte from here on out, or expect disciplinary action.
