So, I'm one of those schmucks that needs to use the suggested driving line to help with braking. It seems that in this iteration of GT, the braking line is EXTREMELY conservative. Even with stock vehicles the system has you braking way, way too early. Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this?

I think it was like this in GT5 too. Personally I don't use the line because it is an aid; I do however use the suggested gear indicator to give me an idea on where to brake.

Yeah, I'm not good enough to play without this aid. :(

It's much, much worse than GT5. With most corners, if you brake when the game tells you to, you'll come to a complete stop before even reaching the apex of the corner.

Maybe you should try to take it off during a free run, and use the suggested gear indicator to estimate where to brake. If you don't seem to like it, then go back to the driving line. 👍

Overall it has always been like this, so I generally brake later than the line tells me or not at all on bends. The only time I've found the driving line is about 100% right is for getting solid braking points on long straights heading into tight turns like on Sarthe and Tokyo.

Practice without it, you'll eventually be faster than you were with the line. :)

The driving line is dynamic. You do not have to go with the first offering, drive through the first, and a new braking zone will be recalculated.

I do not use any driving aids myself, but I had a bug with the driving line, where I could not get rid of it, and had to do a lap around the 'ring, before I figured out how to remove it. 👍

The blinking gear indicator is the perfect aid for me to judge the braking point. But every corner is different, some corners need you to brake right just after the indicator starts blinking, but in some other corner you could wait up to 1 second after it is blinking before you start braking.

I personally think the driving line is obstructive and making me even confused.

if you're only using the driving line to help with the braking zone, then as others have suggested, try to use the blinking gear indicator instead...

1. you get a little more personal satisfaction out of it
2. you can keep your eyes on the road nicely and pick up on the blinking and help learn some visual cues for braking

The line is suggested as are the braking points, I use it exclusively since I do not use any onscreen aids at all. It lets me know where the braking points may be but as I am driving I also push it and create my own path. Racing with the AI you can see that they almost rarely take the suggested line at all. Those guys drive all over the place so I tend to use some of their lines(faster drivers only) and add it to my own to create the best line depending on the situation. Driving line is the best thing to help get you acquainted with upcoming corners, you'll start to pick up braking points the longer you play using the line as you start to picture in your head the area you should brake.

It's not bad, I was online racing without any onscreen aids and without the braking line on the Nurburgring of all places, respectable lap in a 500pp Lancer. It felt great as I was using sound to tell when to upshift and downshift, love it. Now PD how about a sound option, so I can turn down transmission whine and wind and turn up the engine note and exhaust since I need those more than tire squeal.

The driving line doesn't make me faster it just saves time getting up to speed. It takes a fair amount of time to memorize the entry line and braking points on a track and using the driving line greatly shortens the learning curve. I proved it to myself by turning off the driving line and learned the track. My times were a little better with the driving line off. The driving line doesn't make me faster it just saves a lot of track practice time.

The line is just that: a guide. It's up to you to push the limits. There are enough games that hand out perfect assists making everyone a superstar. Thankfully GT ain't one of those. Most tracks have natural lines due to rubber buildup.

I noticed that you dont even need to brake as hard, try trail braking into corners and take a more efficient line though the corners instead of the suggested line.

Hard on brakes initially, then trail braking to rotate into apex. If the guide is causing you to slow down too much, brake later or you are not trail braking enough.

I have the line on, but like in GT5 I decide for myself when to brake, because the suggested braking is all wrong.

The gear indicator is crap, most the time is shows a gear lower than needed. Turn them all off, you'll be much quicker without them.

I never realised how much i rely on the suggested gear indicator until i turned it off.
I was quite embarrassed that sub consciously i was using it way more than i thought i was.

Driving lines are horrible, i put it on for a lap just to see and my gosh it is way off!
I hate when people are demoing the game before its released and your tellling people how great & realistic it looks then they have a big thick blue and red line on, totally shattering any illusions of realism.
