I just had a thought, there is a way that you could more or less force new members into reading the terms of service or other contracts. Instead of having a box to click to accept the whole terms of service, attach a box to every point made in the contract. Throw in some boxes which would be attatched to a paragraph somewhat like this "If you plan on spamming this sight please click on this box". The person can't simlpe fill in every box. They will have to read through everypoint, and fill it in correctly. That won't help stop new members who want to screw around wirth our community, but it could help.

A very sneaky but very good idea 👍

A good one indeed, but let's give 99.5% of the new members the benefit of the doubt!

Most new members aren't breaking the rules, and those who break them pretty much get a second chance if it's a minor infraction (name-calling or tastelessness, for example) or are just banned immediately if they are trully spamming the forum with links/ads/promos, so it doesn't lead to anything further.

If there was a simple way to freeze a member's account that has broken rules until they read through and do something like you've mentioned above, that would be super cool.

To take it a step further, you could have them retype the whole thing. There are ways to disable copy / paste function. Then it could check for something like 90% accuracy and reactive their account when they've typed the rules.

Your right this is for that infantesimal(sp) group of wrong doers, but hey there are often little misunderstandings about what is allowed and what is not. This forum is differen't than most I've seen in terms of elite talk, swearing and overall proper english.

Wait a minute....:dopey:

You guys talk about us, new members who are young, like we are the worst thing that ever joined this forum and you wish we never did. You talk like you wish the forum was the way it was two years ago, when not as many people were members of this.

It seems like it would be an interesting idea to have individual check boxes for every point. There was a suggestion not too long ago that said that we should quiz new members on the rules before letting them in I think, but it didn't end up happening because a "quiz" would scare too many people off. Still and all, your idea is so subtle that it just might work. Good thinking. :)👍

I am 13 but I try to cover up my youth by good grammar and spelling but I always make a mistake in a post. As I look back at some of the posts I had when I first joined I laugh at how bad my grammar was. I was in AIM mode, saying "ur" or "cuz". It was so horrible, i'm happy to have improved a bit.

Hey I'm not saying all new guys are bad. It would be easy to allege(sp) that I am still a new guy. All I'm suggesting is a way of making people do something they should be doing anyways. I know the first few times I posted here I had trouble because I didn't read the rules well enough. I'm sure it probably was pretty good when it was just a tight nit community but hey, the more the merrier.
