Ok, after doing a few searches I've come to the conclusion that all of the threads with people asking for help are repeated apon repeated. I think it would be quite beneficial to have a sticky thread that has a walkthrough on how to be a successful hybrider. Now that that's out there. All I need to know is how to hook up my usb memory key to my ps2.

My signature. Nothing further necessary... :D

Other than the MaxDrive - which is a PS2-specific USB flash drive - I'm not aware of the ability to put other USB flash drivers into the PS2. Anyone?

Heh yea I came across that in a few other threads. As far as the MaxDrive, what makes it anything special?

Well...

The MaxDrive is a USB Flash Drive - you plug it into the PS2's USB port and can download (or rather upload, since the PS2 memory card is 8Mb and the MaxDrive is 32Mb) your gamesaves to the MaxDrive. You can then bung the files onto your computer. Using the .max/.xps file convertor, you can turn your files into XPort files, which mk's GT3gEdit programme can read (not to mention the fact you can back up your memory cards to the computer, to prevent drunken/younger brother game save erasure).

GT3gEdit is a very, very nice programme, which allows you to create hybrids pretty much at will. There's a very easy interface which allows you to see all of the cars in your garage and what parts/settings are applied to them. You can change any part of any car to any part of any other car in a matter of 3 clicks of the mouse and create entire garages full of hybrids in the time it takes you to type in a stage 4 turbo code on one of the cheat cartridges. See my sig to see just how easy it is.

As for why it is different to OTHER USB flash drives... It comes bundled with a disc to allow it to operate on the PS2 and is £10.

First of all, thanks for being so cool, I know this isn't the first time you've commented on this situation. As for the flash drive I do understand what it is and what it's used for, I was just unsure why my flash drive, not a maxdrive, wasn't being recognized when I plugged it in. This software that comes with it, do I have to have a modded ps2 in order for it to work? or does it just read the disc while the drive is plugged in?

I think the drivers on the CD for your ordinary flash drive will only work on a PC. There may well be PS2 versions of the drivers out there you can burn onto a CD, but it'd require a fair old bit of internet searching and/or someone who knows a lot more about flash drives than I do.

like famine sad u need the drivers, or u can get a codebreaker v8+ thats what i use...that recognizes just about any kind of flash drive not to mention it is also a really powerful cheating device, all u need on ur computer is the ps2 save builder found on ps2savetools.com
