First of all, I did go to the "look here before you ask" and none of the links are working.

I am at the last race of the super license and need to shave another .600 second for a bronze. I have ran that stupid track (codt d' azure) so many times I can see it in my sleep.

What tricks or tips are there to finishing this license besides "driving better" or "just keep trying"

:banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Try driving this test in MT transmission. Keep it in 3rd gear or higher at all times.(This is so you don't spin out in corners) I got gold on my 2nd try. Not hard, just gotta find a good line and not to lose control of the car.

Ride the wall on that really soft turn just shortly after the start. If you're gentle, you save a lot of time that way.

yeah what nigma and bbm said..

but for christ sake, dont start wall riding! its a bad habbit to start forming :/

Don't drive the way the Demo does. He spins the tires way to much. Spinning the tires means loss of traction. Loss of tractions means a slow track time. You gotta control the acceleration on that GTOne by using a light pressure on the X button. Remember, it is pressure sensitive.

I ran the course in 1:26:707, and I did it with an Automatic Transmission, so the bronze time shouldn't really be that hard to get.

Good luck!

You all anger me beyond all.

It took me two freakin' hours to beat that test. It was with automatic, and my driving skills weren't quite as refined as they are now (example: I would stomp on the gas and counter-steer for dear life). If I tried it again it may be different. I've been trying Midfield race on the Super license, trying to get gold. I just can't get it. Thats my best chance too. Gr.

I know, I'm finding it difficult to do as well. But I just won one of those cars (GT One race car) and now all I have to do is cut off another 0.08secs! I
was so angry when I missed out by that much!

I think that test took me more attempts than any other license (except maybe B-8). I think the Viper at Laguna Seca is a little harder to get gold on, but I thought that test was fun. The Pennzoil at Midfield is just stupid. It's really all about getting a good exit speed on that last sharp left. I got so many good runs, staying a full second ahead of the demo, then I'd hit that last corner just a little too fast and lose the back end, or I'd hit it just a little too slow and watch my ghost pull away from me for the rest of the run.

yep mt is almost the only way to go if your car has low hp
but i tend to use the r2 button and hold it in gear on uphill climbs:)

It's the GT One, that does'nt have low power.
Anyway I'm going for gold onm all the trests now andI recently got gold on the Midfeild track in the Pennzoil GT-R, I cleared the next test quickly but then I got stuck.

Nah. The Penzoil GTR.

Try manual transmission and shift up before you hit 6000rpm in every gear. Gold ought to be yours no problem.

Wow. Shift at 6k? I found myself shifting a bit before redline, I believe it's 8k.

I was trying it again today... I really need a new way of driving. I've been in the OLR for about a couple weeks now. When I registered I was surprised to see I was placed in the Pros, barely. I never seem to be able to keep pace with some of these guys. I've finished last in the past two weeks (although, there was very little turnout last week, I was one of the two pros that turned in times). Anyway, the way I drive now just isn't working.

I used to hardly ever use the brakes, ride the walls and crap like that. Then I stopped GT3 for a while. When I restarted, I realized brakes were good. :D Now, I'm really having a hard time finding out how to get better. I'm constantly fighting to find the right apex and seeing how fast I can take it without touching the wall ever so slightly. I just need to find the right line and maintain as much speed as possible. Pisses me off at times though.

I think a big problem of mine is I rely on the shift suggestion too much.

I got my X-Port today, I'm going to study the others.

No problem V65SabrePilot, I was able to pass this test olny because I came here and was told the very same thing :)

Yep - but the JGTC Skylines have peak power at 5250rpm, and peak torque somewhere in the 3000 range (I don't recall exactly where). Push it much past 6000rpm and you're on the drop-off part of the curve for both torque and power. If you have one, load in a ghost of yourself with the "old" shifting method - you'll be a car length up at the very least come the first corner.

Leave it in a gear higher than normal for most corners too - the horseshoe (the horrible corner near the end) should be taken in 3rd gear, but you shouldn't be lower than 4th in any other corner.

This also applies to the stock R390 road car and race car (although the race car when fully turboed likes a lot higher shift).

Hrm. Interesting. I was trying to figure out the good part of the powerband and it seemed to go up to almost redline. I'll have to check it out. Thanks.
