Looking at the caption under our username you can see that some users are "new members", however I think this stays there for a little to long. It's easy to think they may of just joined only to find out that they have 45 posts already. Can be kind of awkward if your offering basic advice or treating them completely new. Anyway might be an idea to keep that caption for very new users or make another one.

Just a thought.

yeah, good Idea, maybe for, say... 10 posts or a week could be a member, whichever comes first. You see, I'm a Junior Member, it says so on my Title ... know where to get that fixed? :p.

I like the info. No offense. But it might be relevant to someone reading the advice to know a little background about the person giving it. Give them a frame of reference.

ive been member for approx ½ a year now. And been reading here for ages before that. Im still a new member, as I don't tend to start a lot of posts, nor do i usually jump into big discussions. Im mostly a reader. That My best guess is that it will take me 1 year + to be near member status this rate :D

I personally don't care much, but im sure many does. Maybe put a time limit on it as well? For instance 2 months of active use etc.

The membership rating is "judged" by an implied peer-review process, thus the usual relationship to post count. A lurker, even though a registered or even Premium member, has not contributed enough information to be judged for post quality, so no "promotions."

Someone who posts useless crap just to run up his count will usually get a fix from a moderator, maybe a reduced post count, or some other warning. Someone who gets to 100 or 500 posts without being sent into a corner somehow has been deemed "acceptable" and gets the raised status.
