The smell of fuel was in the air at the monstrous newly-redesigned for '05 Fuji Speedway Complex as the team haulers passed the front gate on a warm and hazy Japan morning. The picturesque Mt. Fuji in the track's backdrop represents a big mountain to climb for all of the teams as we face the beginning of what looks to be the most competitive season of Gran Turismo N1 competition yet.

Earlier this week, testing occured at Driving Park's Motorland near the Twin Ring Motegi. ST1 and ST2 cars broke in with blistering times in the 37 second range. Obviously this is how the predictions will be made, though the RX-8 and NSX will prove just how close this series will be. Fastest in ST1 was the number 11 Kenwood NSX, ST2's quickest was the #36 Supra, and in ST3 and ST4 the fastest times were set by the Mazda Atenza and ASL Garaiya respectively.

Also starting for this round are the old N1 and GN+ classes. These competitive classes have stayed the same since GT2. To enter a team in these classes, (Anyone can enter! Do it whenever you like..it's not required you race every event, this is just to fill the grid!) Just place a post of your car selection!
Class N1 - 350 HP Max, 2000 KG Minimum.
Class GN+ - 250 HP Max, 1800 KG Minimum.
Join for fun! Double your chance of winning one of the championships. Heck, you can even B-Spec it if you like!

Good Luck everyone!
Send your qualification lap times with sectors to my via PM or grip_demon@aol.com

Let the racing begin!

Are we running a qualificiation for this track too?

Qualifications Due Date: July 30, 11 AM (JST) July, 29 11 PM (CST) July 30, 2 AM (UK)
Race Due Date: Aug 3, 11 AM (JST) Aug 2, 11 PM (CST) Aug 3, 2 AM (UK)
Can someone explaing that above? :boggled:

Hi Cosmic,

As far as I can see, we need to run a qualification lap, which we post to GN+. He then places us on the grid (figuretively speaking) with the first qualifier getting a first lap of 0.1 less than the second qualifier in the race. The top qualifier also gets a point for his/her efforts.

Hope this helps. :)

So first we do a quali time and then we race wich will start 2nd August. Is that right?

Geez, this track is really tricky 👍 After 39 laps of hot lapping I finally could do a proper lap :O And set a new record into my list :)

Good luck guys 👍 ;)

Official JAF Photographers caught a few snaps of some 2005 Liveries of Super Taikyu's top teams today during Practice and Qualifying 1.

Hehe, nice pictures GN+, but where's my Motul Pitwork ?

BTW are we allowed to discuss sector times in this thread ?

No sector times here. ;)

However :)

Wow, you can land a jet on the width of this track...

It's taken me a while to find my braking points as the track has obviously been resurfaced recently and there is no tyre marks to aid with this.

Any way, I will do a few more hot laps tonight before I submit.
Will the website be updated in time for round 1?

P.S Nice pics of the Mazda 6 👍

Thanks again GN+

Later :)

You tell me! That was the trickiest part of the track. When I finally find a good braking points I could do the hot lapping. This track isnt easy ;)
I'll do a couple of laps later today. 👍

Maybe I'm just retarded :dunce: but... the car (Honda NSX LM) WON'T F-ING GET ANY GRIP!! I have no idea what to do. I've submitted my quali time, without sectors... I'll explain later... and I feel a lil' shakey 'bout my lap versus everyone elses. I know Fuji will lack grip but, I think the NSX, which I had problems with at Motorland has something to do with the grip problems. ANYWHO, my story about the sector times. No matter what options/settings screen I went to, I couldn't enable sector times, nor find them. WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY GAME?!?!?!?!?! Oh well, best of luck to you boy-racers...

👍 Jonerz 👍

Well,
I've got my fingers crossed after an... interesting... qualifying session(s) at Fuji these past two days. Never have I been able to find any sort of sector time, nor have I been able to "turn them on" at an options page. I am wondering if I am a complete retard by NOT BEING ABLE TO TURN THEM ON. My fingers are litterally crossed as I wait for a reply to my LAP TIME submission.

NOT holdin' ma breath...

Dave

P.S. I saw "Jonerz" had the same problem... is anyone else experiencing that?

Well I was going to post the issue with T-Times, but it seems as if it is a GT4 issue, as I am experiencing the same as both Jonerz and David.

I must say that compared to all the other Fuji tracks, this is definately the most difficult to get to grips with. (Pun). :) We have until tomorrow to qualify?

I think I need the extra time to improve my qualification time before I submit.

Good luck everyone. 👍

Want early results? EVERYONE has submitted so far aside from these four

This means the field for ST1, ST4, and N1 are already decided. Let's get them in, guys, great work!

First of all... FEW! I though I was screwed, but now, as it appears I am not the only one... (obviously.) Anywho, yeah, it would be cool if we could get the results in ASAP, but I do have a question, are we gonna have another board where times will be posted or, are they just posted on the ROUND 1 post?

Thanks a lot...worried 'bout my lap time :nervous:

Dave

All the times will be posted here than on the website.
Now all we need is GT_Fan2005 and smaug_terrible to make 100% turnout! What other series can say that?

Don't delay the start of the race for those guys. Qualification times were do a couple days ago now. Give us the grid, and let us go racing.
