Super Taikyu Season 8 In-Season Open Test - Special Stage Route 5

Drivers: Special Stage Route 5 is the location where we will be keeping our skills sharp, working on set-up and for those of us in two classes; doing the most important work: testing out some rules changes.

As we all know it is the job of series officials to always be looking for a better formula for success. In my case, as Technical Director, I have to be looking for ways to even the competition the slightest amount.

Over the three official rounds of the championship I have observed a lot of improvement from a number of drivers in every class. Racing is getting tighter and as, what I am dubbing, "Taikyu Knowledge" increases I only see everyone getting more competitive and the racing getting closer.

Think of this as a non-competitive, yet mandatory hot-lapping session. Obviously the circuit is Special Stage Route 5, the number of laps you complete is optional. Heck, unless your car has undergone some changes, it is not mandatory you use your car. To clarify, you can use any car of Taikyu specs, competing or not. If you have a Dodge Viper Comp Coupe, a Honda Fit, or a Ruf 3400s that complies to all Taikyu regulations and fits into a class you may run it. With that being said, maybe you have a car that wasn't on the car list for this year, but you'd like to submit a homologation request to myself or GN+ you can test it here (unless you want to keep it under wraps 'til next season. :sly: )!

Circuit: Special Stage Route 5
Laps: Optional (Submit the number completed, at least approximately, for purposes of a race report.)
Mode: Practice

TIMES ARE DUE: Wednesday November 1st 2006 "Before you go to bed." I'll have the results up on Thursday. THAT IS TODAY!

Technical Bulletin:

Sorry for the slight delays, i didn't get charged so my internet shut off. I'll be working in and out of web cafes to get the series running for the time being. Expect the next race thread to appear this weekend.

m.piedgros or GN+:

Should we run the test then? I know for my class that changes have been made.

@m.piedgros; I think that you could use this as an open test in and out of rounds. For instance, next Wednesday, we'll have completed round four (hopefully) as well as this test, you could just change the location and allow us to stay focused even in the absense of a race.

@GN+; I'd like to see this thread stay open, but I guess you get the final word. I'm sure you and m.piedgros will come to the best decision though.

I'm so happy that this series is back:D, because I just love to drive my car:).
I will add this to my thread, and i'm glad your back GN+.

Just so everyone knows there is no Track Day option in this race... there is Practice, Photo Drive, and Family Cup... this is done on a street circuit so Track day isn't a option... but I'm very glad to be back in the saddle of the RX-8 ;) :D  Yeah now we'll see what this bad boy can do..

Probably :) wow my RX-8 feels much better btw its kinda interesting! Testing tommorrow after work a ton before submission.. and then heading somewhere to test more so I'm ready for the battle of the next round... --- Randy

I talked to m.piedgros earlier today, or where he is, this morning/afternoon, I don't know timezones... anyways... he told me that we should in fact run this in practice mode.

Hey guys,

Remember that the times are due today. "Before you go to bed." (So far I've recieved three.)

m.piedgros

EDIT: Just to clarify, times are to be done in Practice.

Times a posted :) --- Randy

I sent you my time, maybe we should PM the other driver's to see if they still want to race:idea:.

I'm not sure PMing them at this point will be of any use. If my math is right they've got about an hour and twenty minutes 'til midnight pacific and I'm not sure if we have any Hawaiians so times should pretty much be in by now. I must tell you, as of now the field looks tiny. I wonder where all our racers could be? I mean, the majority of our racers are GTPlaneteers, not Taikyu vets that GN+ congrigates with outside the site, though their absenses are understandable, I don't know what the excuses [of the non-sumbitters] could be...

Not a horrible lap... is the Silvia ST5 or...? Thanks so much for the test m.piedgros it was nice to get back out in my first OLR race car.

P.S. I like the use of code for the results.

i didnt know that we could use the real cars that we'd use for the acctual race series....i just picked a random car and modded it and ran....I'll run my RX-7 later....but im surprised with the outcome of this car...it had 245-ish HP and weighed appox 1100-1150kg. i also used racing suspension and R5 tires. I ran it with the Stage 5 turbo and pulled a 1'19.xxx time with the car pushing close to 385hp. I am pleased at the results it had. I will be sure to try the RX-7 later

I see that i'm the only ST4 class of car:(, but I think I did well with my Celica:).

What I ment is the race series it's self, because we don't have alot of drivers.
