Should we all turn off our mics before race start?

Another thing to think about is number of laps. I'm happy with the current format of 45-55 minute long races but I know some racers would like a shorter race.

I've been thinking about running two 20 minute races and then averaging the results to get the final results. I'm not any good at math at all but I figure it shouldn't be to hard to figure this out. The two races would be exactly the same. Same car, same PP, same track, same number of laps.

Let me know your thoughts.

It would be my pleasure. I'll host you run the show.

Laps should average in the 2 min mark. So 20 laps would give us roughly a 45 min race. An idea could be a 10 lap sprint. Then reverse grid order 15 lap race with 1 mandatory pit. Then average the finishes for points

Sounds like a great way to mix things up a bit, will certainly make it interesting to reverse the order, should be great to see that one play out.
 
Yeah, I'm kinda liking the idea as well. My only worry is people pushing a little to hard for position as the race is shorter. Also do we institute a mandatory pit? No pits? It wouldn't be bad to switch things up a bit every now and then.
 
How about no pit? Let's all drive on worn tires!
 
A sprint followed by a medium length race sounds like a blast, especially with the reverse grid order on race #2.
 
I think the two sprints idea sounds like fun. I like the way RoadRash has it, but maybe optional pit.

I only suggested mandatory pit because we used to do it that way. I haven't tried any long runs yet so i don't know tire wear. I have no problem with the optional pit. If I remember correctly Logan said something about being a math wiz:tup:

You could just take total time for both races added together to determine overall winner.

With races that short, I like optional pit. If someone wants to run easy and preserve tires it could be interesting.
 
I think I said I had to take a whiz.:crazy: You can just award points for each race in the normal fashion, add them together, and divide by 2.

Without better replay tools it is difficult to gather total time of the race. If i'm not careful the replay restarts and sitting through a 45+ minute replay just to jot down a few more numbers is not fun. Also, what would I do with those that are unable to finish the race before the timer ends?

Your idea would be great though if GT5 had a much better replay system.

:dunce: So say I get 5th in the first race and 8th in the second. I would add 55+40(the points awarded for those two places) and divide by two to get 47.5 points? When i'm done doing that for everybody that participated I give the highest point total 1st place and so on?:dunce:

I would also have to scrap pole position bonus for the second race BTW.
 
Or Boshuter's method. It would be interesting, also. I was thinking the same thing about possible tire preservation making things fun.

Hahahaha...I thought those were realistic goals LOL.


So, i'm going to try it out like this and see how it goes.

Are you guys done with the math, so I can continue reading without zoning out?!
 
Or you just use the 2 races without averaging them. May be unfair to the winner of 1st race, but hey, that's life.
 
Lap times are not going to be anywhere near 2min. :sly: This car handles like it's on rails on this track.

Maybe I've got the wrong car or something, I'm using the RM '10 Camaro at 575PP and running on Fuji F. Is that the correct car and track?

Edit..... oops, I'm on the wrong track aren't I?

I just ran about 10 laps and haven't changed any settings on the car from default and my best was 1:59.2 There is definitely room for improvement on that.
 
I think the best lap I've had on Nurb GP is a mid 1:59.

575PP or completely stock? Racing soft?

I did some testing last night...I could run 15 laps with about 1/4 left on my fronts, with a drop of about 3 seconds. So, here's my suggestion to make the race a little interesting with to pit or not.
A 8 lap sprint, then a 5 min break, then a 20 lap feature. Reverse grid based on previous race results.
