Should we all turn off our mics before race start?

DJ, not sure if I can make it in time tonight. Real life work is getting in the way of GT5. Have not run any laps in the Australian car anyway.

By the way, can some explain to me what LSD should do? 2 options:

Option 1:
Initial 8
Accel 18
Decel 5

Option 2:

Initial 40
Accel 60
Decel 5

Option 1 should mean that my car will rotate more in the turns with a little bit of gas, and less traction on exit/straight? Oversteer on corner entry and exit?

Option 2 should mean that my car will not rotate as much in turns, but I can get on the gas sooner on exit? Understeer on corner entry and exit?

Correct. With decal 5 on this track the car may get loose on the last 3rd of the track after the hairpin.

JT, thanks for the quick response.

I have some follow up questions. Will a high LSD setting mean that it takes more torque/throttle to lock up the LSD?

Does locking up LSD mean that the drive wheels will spin together so there is no slip?

So a high LSD setting would mean that the car will oversteer at 50% throttle (because the drive wheels are free to spin individually), while a low LSD setting would mean that the car will understeer at 50% throttle (because the drive wheels are spinning together at the same rate)?

NCR, I find the online physics confusing too, especially the online AI. They never move out of my way, drive erratically down the straight, initiate too much contact, and generally unpredictable. Haha!

I'm not gonna make the race tonight. Good luck to everyone.

I just think of the AI in the seasonals as moving chicanes.

Not sure I'll make the race tonight, getting hung up at work.

Not making it.

It was a good one. Close racing.

Great racing guys! Soopa is proving to be a force lol. Question: repeat format for this weeks race?

Are both BMW Z's from the dealer allowed?

Apologies to xR0ADRASHx for hitting your rear on the first corner of race 2, didn't anticipate the early braking due to the bunching up ahead, was braking hard but in your slipstream it wasn't enough. I know I didn't damage anything and didn't punt you off, but I did send you wide so I do apologise.

Great race last night and can't wait for tomorrow's challenge

Good racing last night. Fun battle with JT in race 2. Wish I hadn't gotten disconnected on lap 7 of race 1, oh well. For some reason I can't get very comfortable on that track. Glad this race is done.

Soopa was stoopid fast again! Sorry for the hit in turn 1, thought I could slip underneath you.

hehe, Soopa is on a roll, can he make it a hatrick...?

*A hatrick is scoring three goals for those who don't know football ;)

another interesting way of racing might be using BTCC rules, where weight penalties (success ballast) are issued for subsequent races in sprints, only thing would be that PP can't be used and we'd have to go with BHP/Weight restrictions to make it work. Should be ok for a one make race though. We'd have to do some testing on what level of weight penalties to issue to ensure they have the desired effect, but we can assume that GT5 have cars weight physics pretty close to realistic and go with BTCC regs, might get too complicated but worth consideration I reckon.

We've thought of it but in the end I decided it was to complicated and impossible to enforce. If GT5 had any way for league managers to adjust racers cars it would be great.

No worries, didn't know who it was. I lost more spots a few laps later when I missed my braking mark on the front stretch and locked them up sliding into a pack of cars, then proceded to slide in front of Logan. That was all my fault.

any idea on number of laps? figure an average time of 1:30 per lap. 30 laps should give us 45 mins or so.

Can we use either of the BMW Z4's?

DJ gave the ok last night for the use of both Z4's. I prefer the coupe. Although this track and I don't get along so well

I'll be on a controller for the Trail Mountain race. If you guys see me wobbling about or I tap you that's the reason. I'm away from home base and couldn't bring my wheel along.

I think you might be better off on this track, less wear and tear on the arms!

ughhh recap is finally done! Wow, two race recaps take a while! I'm glad there wasn't any incidents or this would have taken me a week to complete.

Check out the recap here:

I'll update the original 3 posts tomorrow sometime around noon Pacific time.

You've done it again DJ, another amazing report, I honestly don't know how you do it. You're efforts are truly appreciated and can't wait to watch the replay with it later

DJ, been getting home pretty late from work these days, only able to login around 9:15 or so, so not sure if I can make it to the race tonight again. I have not even picked my car so if I can make it, will go for a nice Sunday drive.

By the way, I read Soopa mentioned about ballast. If you want to implement PP and weight, it is a bit complicated. What you would have to do is to set weight limit, have the ballast cars enter the pits, and then change to PP and have everyone else enter the pits. It works, but requires some coordination. Intriguing idea to level the field.

Not too sure about the need for ballast here. We are all pretty equal in this league, evident with the tight racing. Ballast is effective in keeping LMP and Group C's together but that is as far as my experience goes. It is needed as a direct result of HP versus weight not driver experience. For some reason the 01' Audi LMP is just too fast and is just outright banned. The Mazda 787B would get 30 ballast for example, just a quick getter that any driver could handle and obtain good results with. Toyota GT-One, no ballast because it is a beast to tame. Alot of testing is needed to figure it all out. This is all with a 680 HP limit. So depending on what cars we are racing the parameters would need to change. I'm just guessing.

So is the M Coupe legal in this race? It's not a Roadster and really isn't in the same stock performance league of an S2000.

347 hp stock/371 tq vs 243 hp/225 tq. Granted the S has a 245kg weight advantage. The Z4 Roadster was a more direct competitor to the S at least performance wise.
