Hello... I am thinking about buying MR2 1600 G-Limited SC, and upgrading the supercharger to make more HP, but my co-worker said the supercharger can not be upgraded... He said it can only be added to a car that doesn't have a supercharger... Just wondering if this is true... Thanks in advance.

you can get upgrade the car with a super charger (model depending), don't know about upgrading the supercharger itself but i think you can get the intercooler with increases hp, please correct me if i'm wrong

if the car accepts a supercharger it usaly is a N/A tune only and cannot support a intercooler. intercoolers are for turbo engines only think of them as a addition to a turbo rather than the engine itself.

maybe my question wasn't clear enough... here is another attempt...

if the car is already supercharged (stock), can you goto the dealership (or tunershop) and upgrade it to a bigger supercharger to gain more horsepower?

On that model, no. However, fully NA tuned, that car is a monster. Just make sure you adjust the suspension and downforce to your style. I gave mine a bit of drift and a bit of grip (suspension is stiff and great for low speed drift around some corners, but the downforce is set for gripping at high speed to prevent making a huge mistake).

Still not answering his question.

Well, since it works with turbo's, why shouldn't it work with an SC? :dopey:
The MR2 isn't "SC-equipable".

I know what he means, in this game no, if the car is supercharged (Ford SVT Lightning for example) then no, you can't buy other superchargers for it, only the stock ones stay on.

Not true. Superchargers can run intercoolers too and sometimes they even have too. The turbine blades of the SC heat the intake charge just like a Turbo. This is one way to increase the boost level without detonation destroying the pistons and engine. I read this in a MOPAR magazine in an article about a 440 supercharging stint for the street.

To answer the question once and for all:

In GT4 there is only one supercharger kit per car. No stage 1, 2 and 3 ect. Once it's bolted on that's it. In reality you can buy SC to affect different parts of the power band. Smaller bladed SC's give great low end power but run out of boost preassure when the engine spins up higher than the small turbine can cope with.

Then there are the maximum, balls to the wall high RPM screamers. This doesn't neccesarily take away low speed power but they don't build any extra either. These SC's have big turbine blades and require to be spun fast to create boost.

Then there is the middle of the road, add power to most of RPM range type. This is what I think PD based their SC models on. They give some low end pump and a great midrange punch but start to taper as the RPM's start to scream. This is the most typical type of street style SC.

Hope this helps.

you can't add a turbo or supercharger to an alread-supercharged aw11 mr2. you can however, put a turbo or a supercharger on a naturally aspirated aw11 mr2 and get more power than the factory-supercharged one

Hell you got that right.

Cheers,

there are three types of superchargers: a roots, centrifugal, and screw type.
the roots makes your engine act like a larger engine by incresing the low and mid torque.
the centrifugal type addeds torque and horsepower in the mid and upper range.
the screw type has the low end torque of a roots type and the mid and top end of a turbo but the sc takes power even when not making boost.
