SuperGT Round 1: Race ***RESULTS***

I finally had the opportunity to do a GT500 race, and I'm pretty pleased with the result. My tire strategy was unusual - hard, then medium, then soft - but it didn't sacrifice much overall time and it gave me a chance to get the fastest lap, although I didn't end up setting quite as fast a time as I had hoped on the soft tires. I was much more consistent than in the preseason race, too, and I might have actually had a completely clean race. If there were any barrier contacts, they were light enough that I couldn't tell definitively that they had occurred, and would have likely not caused significant damage if this were reality. I also had much more fun competing in the race, particularly on hard tires, than I did trying to push hard in the sprint races, so I credit you, ABud, for picking a track that actually was good, contrary to my expectations after the sprint race. 👍

I will probably get in a GT300 race later tonight, but I don't expect to be anywhere near as satisfied with the result, judging by the number of collisions with the walls that marred my attempts at the sprint race.

Time Sent.

Had an ok run, managed to break into the high 52s on Mediums, but didnt go as quick as I wanted on Softs with only managing low 52s.

Good luck all.

east, remember that we aren't supposed to discuss lap times. I think that means that even general statements like "low 52s" are disallowed. But that information does mean that I can say that we all wish we could do as "okay" as you can. I don't know how you can possibly go that fast without constantly running into walls as a result of minuscule differences in your line.

I did finish GT300, and as I predicted, it wasn't as good as GT500 was. I was much less consistent and had multiple small wall brushes, and the AI's lock on its line meant that the Renault rally car shoved me out of the way with side-to-side contact both entering and exiting the last turn. So I wasn't even able to keep the race free of AI contact, unlike my GT500 attempt. Interestingly, the exact same strategy as I used in the GT-R - right down to the number of laps on each different tire grade - seemed best in this car, too.

I found the GT300 race much harder than the GT500, the AI just blocked me way more. Not particularly pleased with either race but doubt i'll have time to go again.

Times sent. :)

52's?!!?!!! :grumpy:

j/k east. ;)

Got another GT500 done, quite an amusing race really - I finsihed it in the pit lane! Picked up a drive through on my final lap but still beat my previous time by 16 secs :).

Can't be bothered doing another GT300, Austins too quick!

Time submitted, with minutes to spare. ;) Hope it was good enough, the dashed lines zipping by at speed were starting to hurt my eyes.

I too have submitted my times to ABud.

However, luckily for me, the speeds that I reached at Seoul were slow enough that I could still carry on conversations with friends on my cell phone, and I was able to watch the Formula One race at Abu Dhabi streaming on the navigation screen that I installed in my Impreza!:)

By the end, I was finally getting better at the track. However, there are just so many times one can drive 37 laps, so I guess I left some time on the table.

Hey all,
Just ran out of time to even attempt a GT500 race.
My apologies, but what with some extra work then watching the F1 Race ( congrats to the real Mark Webber 👍) a trip to the Doctors and also trying to complete some other Races then upload some videos, just too much happening.
Maybe next round.

Adios Amigos ! see you soon ! Hah !

Those GT500 times are frustratingly close! Only the equivalent of a couple obstructions by AI cars separated third from fifth. And if I had done slightly worse in the sprint race, the avoidance of a weight penalty would have vaulted me up two or three positions. :banghead: Congratulations to InsaneRacer for outperforming east, the legend of long race series. 👍 But, as you know, your reward is a weight penalty! I foresee these seven races as being a seesaw battle, with the results shuffling as weight penalties are applied and reapplied. I expect that to be the case in GT300, too.

Nice laps all!

Austin343 - you were lucky to be so far out in front in GT300. Those of us in the middle of the pack had to battle all race long for every square inch of space on the streets of Seoul!

It was quite a fun race. I was quite pleased with myself when I lapped the entire field! And now quite glad that I did not know how close Austin343 was to catching me!.:nervous:

Fantastic!!! First of all, congratulations to all especially to the GT500 Winner ''InsaneRacer'' and GT300 race winner ''Austin343'' and also for clocking a blisteringly fast time!!! Owh not to forget east for breaking the lap times for GT500... Cool!! Great race everyone and we'll see you again in Suzuka :D

Congrats to all the podium finishers and to those that made it to the end! It's nice to win one in front of the "home" crowd, but I already know it's gonna be a good battle next race with the added 54kg. :trouble:

Well done Insaneracer for taking the first round win 👍 Looks like being a very competitive season this time round :)

My bad, I thought that rule had been changed for some reason.
