After a succesful pre season event we move on to the proper business of the seventh season of SuperGT. Reigning GT500 champion east had a good start by winning the preseason event but there's plenty of drivers within reach. Last years GT300 champion ABud didn't go quite so well, but now things begin for real.

So lets see where everyone really stands and get on with the racing!! (In reverse people :dopey:)

Feel free to discuss sector times, or individual lap times but please don't mention total race times.

General Information and Regulations

I have a question about the sprint race. Is there a "sprint race" and then "main event" for each track? So say for this round would we be spending two weeks at Seoul Central? One week on a sprint and one week on the main event?

Exactly. Each round consists of 2 races, a sprint race over week 1 and a full race over week 2.

Quick blast around and i've got a lap of 58.9xx in the MR-S, not done any GT500 yet.

To avoid cluttering the thread with negativity about this track, you can just read my thoughts about it here. Thank you very much for giving us no tire wear, and the ability to choose the AI difficulty.

I was thinking the same thing actually about that second corner. I had to take a few "frustration" breaks after all the times I came to a dead stop or was squeezed by the AI on that corner. The final corner is also taken very uniquely by the AI, unless I"m not driving correctly which is entirely possible

Here's the splits to my quickest lap from my best run so far (i'll keep my full laptime a secret for now :dopey::sly:):

17.379
32.236

I havnt driven this track much at all in the past and I have to say im enjoying it :)

I wish i could join in..... :(

(Could I join possibly?)

Yep, just go to the sign up thread here and read through the info and then join.

Austin343, i know what you mean about the AI at Seoul which is why for this round only the full race will be own choice AI too. As for the track, I quite enjoy it but less so in the GT500, doesn't quite fit the cars if you get what I mean. Not my least favourite track of the season either, think thats going to be Hong Kong but ho hum!

Lancer, just tried to PM you but your inbox is full. Could you delete a few messages so I can send it, it's about the settings you used for your submission.

^Go ahead now, I'm pretty sure I know what it's about, and yes, I wrote the wrong number, should be 1092. 👍

Those were fun races. Allthough, The AI was not letting me pass, then slamming me into the wall and I had to go to the pits. But I fixed those scores and I'm pretty confident. :D

This really is testing my consistency and patience... Got to get through this!!!

Time Trials Terminated. Tire Tests Tomorrow. Too Tired Tonight.

Alliteration aside, the track's going to be interesting. The turn 3/4/5 combo is going to test a LOT of people. If you hit it correctly, you will rocket into the carousel hairpin, but if you miss, you'll loose 0.5 - 1.0 second. I did.

I'll post splits later. I did both races at +10 AI, and plan on doing the full race at +10 too, they burn their tires so fast that they won't be around after the 1st pit stop.

g/l all

I spent almost an hour frustratedly trying to get a fast and clean race in GT500, and although the latter criterion isn't in the rules, it never feels right to do a "qualifying" run like this with a wall or an AI contact. I did succeed with a time I will submit, as I passed the AI well and cleanly, did not have a wall contact to the best of my knowledge (although there was one very close call!), and was quite consistent and not slow enough to place last. :dopey: I didn't note the precise splits of my best lap, but they were almost identical to those of east. Assuming it's okay to discuss more than one lap time, I nearly broke the minute barrier on the first lap and had a fastest lap of 53.346. I don't expect to win, with the level of competition this season, but I do feel that that was a pretty good effort. By the way, I used an AI setting of -10, which wasn't too hard to pass and was just fast enough to avoid being lapped.

Edit: With a brief few laps in GT300, my fastest lap was a 57.8. I might be able to improve on it somewhat, but consistency looks like it will come more easily with the Garaiya than it did with the GT-R (which, as an aside, I notice has "Pennzol" written on its hood!).

57.8? :banghead: Back to the drawing board for GT300 then cos you're nearly a second a lap quicker:grumpy:

I did break the 1 min mark on my first GT500 lap but i'm a bit slower than you after that, ran it at -7 AI as they were holding me up through turn 4.

A few more laps if I can be bothered, or not, we'll see!

Not in Abud, east or Austin343's et al league. But have my runs in.

edit: More I drive this track the better I like it. Challenge wise at least. Should love it after the full race what with all the time I'll have in with the two classes.

Under one minute on the first lap! There's no way I'm hitting a lap like that with the road-blocking ai, so I'm just working on consistent lap times.
My fastest lap as of now is 53.379. :)

I can't wait until the regular races start! :D It's gonna be fun! It's my first race series.

Yeah, the best i could do was like a 1'01.xxx or something like that...But, at the same time i was running at +10 A.I....

My Best was about 0'56.xxx, with a bad gear and suspension set up.
Only hit about 276 @ 3/4 down straight.

I'm going to have to try again

Greetings fellow Racers,

I have pmm'd my times as I will not get another chance at this.
No matter, I managed a perfectly clean and tidy effort so I am more than happy.

AI set @ 10 got past everyone cleanly, 6th place to 2nd by exit of circle hairpin.
Caught and passed Lister Storm at kink second time round.

Then I just dawdled around in a most conservative manner to ensure I got a time in the Bank.

Now for the bad news -
ABud, I must regretfully request that I be released from my GT300 contract.
There is just no way I can fulfil all my commitments ( and remain Married at the same time - She who must be obeyed has spoken :ouch: ).
Sorry to do that, but needs must.

Every indication is that, not only in this race but also in future races, I'm going to be struggling to reach the leaders' times in GT500. Right now, the information I gave is slightly misleading, because my fastest lap was actually the exception to the consistency I mentioned. I will probably have to rely on weight penalties to superior drivers to have a chance at winning a race.

GT300 looks a little better, though. After an hour or so of more frustrated attempts, mostly clipping walls, I got a time I will likely submit, whose first lap and fastest one shared the decimal portion, .718, with the former being a 1'04 and the latter a 57. I was reasonably consistent except that two slow AI cars (I had it set at -5, which is evidently not enough!) obstructed me on the last lap. Fortunately, I only lost about a second to them. Undoubtedly, I could fish for lineups to find one that allows me not only to pass easily but also to prevent having to lap them, but I don't feel inclined to do that, and I'm satisfied enough with what I have now.

No worries i'll sort the entry list out tonight.

Time submitted...
I won't have more time this weekend...off to mini vacation.
but after readings this...
I got a time I will likely submit, whose first lap and fastest one shared the decimal portion, .718, with the former being a 1'04 and the latter a 57.

I wish I had more time.

fastest lap was 59.1xx

GL all.

Times have been submitted. Mt GT300 run was at +10 A.I. as i felt that the cars on lower levels held me up too much. My fastest lap was in the Low '59.xxx's as i just tried to be consistent over the run rather than go for a fast lap with a slower overal run.

For some reason, i only felt comfortable in GT500 running at +9 A.I. as +10 felt WAAAY too hard (All of the stuff Austin343 Talked about came true!), yet +9 was actually pretty good. I was even able to crack the '54.xxx barrier!

Time sent.

I do not like this track, but I put some effort into putting together a decent run. I had the AI set to -6, they didnt interfere too much in the corners while I drafted them on the straights.
