Good Luck
Chris

Just something I want to clarify Chris, it says my HP should be at -2% which should be 472HP not 477, or is it? Just wanna make sure I have the right settings, thx. It feels like a night and day difference when I have tire wear versus not, we'll see how it goes for the race....

I tried two strategies yesterday. One of them seems good for me,no spins,no penalties,no problems with the Artificial Idiots and after losing another 1% of power NO SPEED AT ALL. :)
I love Fuji,so I think I finished.I'll submit it in the afternoon.
Good luck you all.
Going to do the Clio Cup and WES this week.👍

Before you leave GTX .. please enlighten us with your preferred strategy .

It is a two stopper on Mediums.Maybe it's not the fastest but my only chance to earn a good place in the finish is to pit less than you guys will pit.
In JGTC season 3 I was beated on Fuji 2005 by Eric (ejr_1) with a totally strange strategy. He pitted only twice on Hard's while I needed to pit five times on softer compounds so I got 13 seconds under 35 laps. :ouch:
So there is space for thinking on something different...
Maybe I'll give another go for it.

Season 3 was my rookie season in 2005.Those were the days... :)
On board with Andy,Neil,J.R. and me in GT300.

If I don't hear back from ya soon Chris, I'll start with my HP at 472 to be safe, no biggie.

Jerome

Are you hearing what im hearing .. GT4 and GTX will both be on the podium

''2 stopper on mediums" ... the RX7 can better that , but is it fast enough to make the difference .

Im switching to softs on the last stint.
You can...with a light and strong car. :)
The Garaiya is good on tires.I know the beast,I used it in JGTC Season 3. 👍
My only problem with Softs on the Celica is that I am not fast on them.I mean I am faster on Softs than Mediums but not much. The difference between hotlaps is only 0.6 seconds per lap and simply it is not worth the suffering throughout the race to put a few laps long stint into the strategy because in addition with this I should stretch the previous stints with one more laps and that means that I must race with much more caution for conserving my tires and it means that I need to slow down in the critical tyre-eating corners etc...etc...
Causes and effects. :ouch:
So I decided to stay on harder compounds with an almost empty fuel tank and push hard.

The RX7 sure can better that Del, I just did a one stopper, just be easy on your tires. In the last year tire management is all I've really worked on and it's paying off. I may try running softs just to see if the drafting is any better.

Hey Laz, Season 3 was your first, seems you've been running with us longer then that. Neil and I have been driving the RX7 almost every week for almost a year and a half. You get to know the car pretty good after a few hundred hours :)

I started in the middle of Season 1 and can honestly say I can get 4-6 laps more tire wear now. I was forced to, running with Neil and his 253 laps at the Ring on RSS's:)

Theres not much difference in lap times between the RM's and RS's so your suggestion sounds good ; but i'll be trying out a 2 stop race 1st ... still getting used to this RX7 .

BTW did anyone catch Top Gear last weekend? One of the best episodes ever IMO!

Hammond learns just how hard it is to drive a Formula 1 car, and they did a fantastic job of demonstrating just how scary these machines are. Then Lewis Hamilton gets in the Reasonably Priced Car, and finally a BMW drives itself around the Top Gear track at race speed!

[/OT]

2 stopper for me did a race at 472 HP and managed a 1:20.x fastest lap. With the increased weight and less HP I was almost tempted to change my top speed, but didn't. Chris can you verify that I am supposed to be running at 472? Thx!

Jerome

Hey Jerome, where in NY do ya live? I used to live there before I came to FL.

Yeah! I watch it EVERY week, and I agree it was a fantastic episode.
Unbelievable that Lewis was only .3 of a second slower than the Stig's time, on a soaking wet track!
And that Beemer was amazing too!

Neil

I thought it was pretty impressive :)

My favorite segment was Hammond in the F1 car. Between the (helmet) camera angle and his screaming, "OH MY GOD! OH MY GOD!" all the way down the straight, I thought they did a supreme job of conveying just how incredible an F1 car is   I was a little scared just watching it

LOL actually I live in Oregon been a Giants fan since the real LT and Simms days growing up. The have been doin fine since the whole -Tiki thing *rolleyes* 👍

Jerome

Well Tiki's brother, Ronde plays safety for my team "Tampa Bay Buccaneers" and we're going to the playoffs!!!!!!

Damn it! :grumpy:

Was 18 laps into a one stop strategy involving a stint of softs, and still to pit..........and the power went out for a few seconds (really bad weather here at the moment)

So now got to start again. :ouch:

Ah well, I had been a 'little' rough on the fronts in the first lap anyway, so I suppose it's for the best, maybe.

Wouldn't that corrupt your data. That happened to me once and I had to start a whole new Gran Turismo Mode. Although it only took me a week to get back to where I was instead of 2 months.

Nah, PS3 has memorycard data stored on the HDD. And unless it's accessing that bit of data, it won't get corrupted.

Plus I have got the PS2 card still stored away nice and safe.👍

Neil

Did you keep your old PS2 Neil? I saw absolutely no reason to keep mine and gave it to a nephew. If my PS3 bites the dust I'd be forced to buy another but I'll never go back to the PS2....Not with GT5 coming :) I see electronic stores in the newspaper advertising for PS2's but not PS3's, isn't that weird?

I'm surprised you're making a pit Neil....did you need gas ?

Har, har!

No need for gas, but even I have to pit to change tyres every now and again.

Bad news is that although I can get RH fronts and RM rears to last till L19 & RS/RS to last the remaining 10 laps..........it's not any faster than you are Andy, in fact it's 9 seconds slower over the race distance.
I know some of that is probably mistakes on my part, y'know missed shift-points and braking points overshot, but the fastest lap I got with a draft was over a second faster than you said in your PM.

Gonna do a 14/15 lap split on RM fronts and RS rears, and see how that pans out.👍

Oh, and yeah, I kept the slimline PS2 AND still have an old style one also that is for use by the fosterkid and step-son downstairs in the lounge. That way if they get rowdy, or have an accidental spill or something, I will still have a backup.
But to be honest, I really wouldn't want to go back to a PS2 either, the graphical improvements have spoiled me now.

Neil
Dels damned jealous ... i can only get 11 laps on the same combo ... :indiff: 👍... application in the mail for the KINGS "how to pit just for petrol" racing school .

I think driving the 300 RX7 in the first two seasons of the JGTC (that I participated in) is probably what caused me to develop my particular driving style.
It's very soft on the rears because of the really smooth torque/HP curve that the rotary engine produces, but conversely it can be quite pushy at the same time. So, getting corner entry speeds absolutely right and powering through virtually the whole corner ( the Jackie Stewart method - slow in, bloody fast out! ) is the way to drive this car. A by-product of that method, is lower front tyre wear and faster speeds onto the straights that inevitably follow tight corners.

Luckily, it translates very well onto any FR/MR car, but not to FF cars! Thank god we don't drive them very often eh?

Neil
