My times have been submitted.

I left a lot on the table in 500 though...It was more about getting a clean run than anything else. Even so, the MORONIC AI forced me off course on lap 3 and brake-checked me going into the Casio Triangle on the last lap, causing a drive-through penalty...Crap like that was why i didn't submit a Qualifying time for this race last year.

GT300? A cake-walk by comparison; The Garaiya really works well on Mediums here, so it was just another race really.

Um...wow. a 10s victory on mediums in only five laps? gt300's getting a little out of hand. Where are you making up 2s a lap on the entire field?

gt500 has a nice, tight bunch at the top.

That separation of a tenth of a second is frustrating! The worst part is that I only ran one full race, and then moved on to GT300, even though I knew there was more left. I assumed that given the advantage in split times I had over east due to the weight penalties imposed on him, that imperfect run would be fast enough. ICallShotgun, please don't be suspicious of me. I'll record a video later this evening, and if you're worried that I didn't use the correct weight, you can verify by taking the car out on the power/weight/tire setup I was given and seeing whether the car reaches the same speed as in the video just before the braking zones. I assure you that I used 1147 kg as specified.

Edit: This is the video. I apologize for realizing midway through the fourth lap that the race time was longer than Youtube's ten-minute limit, and therefore having to fast-forward through large chunks of the last lap. You can see that there were no questionable spots there, though. The medium tires and the 321 HP (shown as 322 on the replay even though it's 321 in the settings box) are shown at the beginning, and the weight can be verified as I suggested above.

Austin343 you're the last person I would be suspicious of. What with all the vids you have uploaded. I'd upload some of mine but the Hotlap videos exceed YouTube's ten min. limit.

Owh boy... where can I find another 2s per lap :(

Anyway, congrats to ''east'' and all the podium performers for the GT500 race. Also congrats to ''Austin343'' for the victory and the podium perfromers...

It's not suspicion, its awe. I watched the whole video. You put more tires off in one lap than I did in the 17 for the race. The car control is astounding.

How do you keep your tires from burning completely off in the race? Sliding through Spoon, and into Casio is just...wow!

My mistake. That is the problem with these board posts sometimes. I can not convey the humor of my words. It was along the same lines as your post. Just appreciation of good driving.

The ability to gain from putting two tires off the track is certainly a major flaw of GT4, and as you noted, I've learned to exploit it. It allows you to effectively widen the track, which is key in certain corners, like Degner and Casio. The increase in tire wear that stems from "drifting" the car into certain corners is actually quite small, and is certainly more than offset by the gains in lap times. Really, the "drifting" is just the extreme case of a technique that works astoundingly well in this car, which is to sort of "float" the car into the corners, meaning steering suddenly to destabilize the car and then braking; the car continues to turn, and it does so much better than if you were trying to brake and turn simultaneously. I drive that way in most cars in GT4, and it almost always improves lap times because of the understeer that is otherwise present under braking and because cars are so easy to straighten with throttle application mid-corner. The technique is heavily reliant upon the steering quickness of the controller as opposed to the precision of a wheel. Obviously, it would be disastrous in a real car, and presumably in GT5P and GT5, too.

I also practiced for a while (about an hour) to get that time. I could have theoretically been much faster, judging by the 2'01.2 lap I had once (with room for improvement), but I kept crashing at that pace and later lost the "feel" for the car. So I thought that there was no point in continuing to drive while becoming slower and more frustrated.

oldmodelt, he was referring to my post. I see now that I was far too defensive, and that jumping to conclusions about the tone of his post was uncalled for. :guilty: Please accept my apologies, ICallShotgun, and I'll do my best to avoid further unreasonable assumptions. :)
