i thought it was pretty weird when it said it wouldn't offer any downloads. something said it was raided by police for piracy or something. it also said bittorent accounted for 52% of all file sharing programs. i found it strange.

That was bound to happen eventually.

This was like two weeks ago.

And I don´t think you can talk about this here.

Yep, this is old news. And I thought the suprnova operators decided to close the site to avoid the recent crackdown on illegal file sharing hubs around the internet. I don't think they were raided.

And from what I´ve heard they´re beta testing a new program, wich MPAA won´t be able to track.

The creators of Suprnova are developing a program called eXeem, which is pretty much a decentralized torrent program. Kinda like a crossbreed of Kazaa and Bit Torrent.

The current protocol relies on a central server, called a tracker. This tracker is what tells your bit torrent client where to go to download the files. By shutting down the trackers, you can pretty much kill bit torrent in general. With eXeem, everyone will become a tracker and eliminate the need for a central server.

The MPAA will more than likely still be able to monitor your habits, but as it's decentralized, there's nothing they can really do to shut it down.

Early, early screens of the eXeem beta:

Some idiot said that bit torrent is responsible for 30% of the entire internet's traffic, which is a load of **** and why the MPAA popped up out of nowhere. If it wasn't for that article, chances are Suprnova would still be up and running.

And this news is old. Very old.

The MPAA is sueing LokiTorrent. Looks like the end of the the BitTorrent age... :indiff:

Never. BitTorrent has a completely legit and legal use. It was developed to help take the load off servers whenever a huge file was put up for download, like a new Linux Distro. They aren't going to shut down a completely legit program.

And once again, this is old news.

Well, the end of the illegal parts, anyway. :banghead:

I don´t think this is allowed.
Well, the programs are legal and the torrents themselves are legal. It's just the torrent's target that may be (or probably is) dodgy.

Like it was said, this is old news, exeem is coming and suprnova didnt close down because it was told to or because it was frigtend that is was going to be sued by MPAA , they did it because it would do what is happening... Creating hype! the guy who created suprnova did a recent interview with an online radio show and he told us all about the new prog, he isnt vreating it he is only like PR for the company that is. As for Lokitorrent they are fighting the battle with MPAA and are asking for donations to fund the fight, personally i hope they win because if Bit torrent software gets banned then who know what they will do next.
