sure GTA3...but GTA2? GTA?

lots of people have bought GTA3, they love it, it looks like a cool game, but come on, there has to be some old school GTA, and GTA2 players here!

Actually I have never even played the other GTA's. :eek: I wanted to rent them or borrow them from a friend but it never worked out. :( Are they any good?

You can pick up the first 2 for the PSX, for like $9.99.

GTA2 is the best outta the first 2, but GTA1 has the most mods and stuff.

GTA3 is the best overall :)

Actually I prefer GTA 1 to GTA 2.

neither have i. :( I always wanted to get them, never did.
 
I seriously do not think I will go and buy/rent any of the old GTA's. I really do not think I could take playing with the birds eye view mode the whole time. I have tried it on GTA3 just to see what the older GTA's were like and I could not last a minute with it on. I do not know if it is because I am just used the the new 3D world or what. Did any of you think about what the games would be like in 3D before GTA3 came out? :)
 
I got GTA when it first came out. If I hadn't loaned it to someone and had it all scratched to heck, I'd probably still be playing it.

GTA2 just isn't as good as GTA. But, I'd definitely recommend getting GTA for anyone who hasn't played any of the previous versions.

Did any of you think about what the games would be like in 3D before GTA3 came out?

All the time. I always wanted to be able to go into the buildings and stuff, too. I think that would really make the game super cool.
 
i won all of the GTA's, but as with most people, i think 3 is the best. i mean, GTA1 was brilliant when it came out, but GTA2 knocked the crap out of it, and GTA3 the same with GTA2.
 
Actually I HATE GTA 1 & 2 !!

I think that the graphics look like someting from old Amiga game. And I couldn't get into that "top down" wiew..

But GTA3 totally blew me away, and I love it !!

Exact same thing here. I'm thinking of reinstalling GTA2 cuz I saw in an interview that it's capable of going online. I tried it with GTA1 but no one was playing.
 
go to freeloader.com you can download the first three (otherwise i would never have gta london but as it was free....

I would still recommend buying either game (forget gta london and thats coming from a brit!) for a reason that most people dont know (only on the pc though). You can change everything on the game. you can create your own missions (must admit i didn't go that far) change the map, change the cars (gta i had flying saucers for cop cars, gta2 i had Porsche 911's) Go to gouranga.azz.com (or something like that: try a search for the two words if its wrong) and it is class. There are at least 5000 different cars for gta and most of them are amazing and at least 500 for gta2 (and the last time i checked was last summer). So the first two, as long as you are prepared to spend the time on it (which im not i admit) are always going to be better graphics wise because you can keep changing them as you want. Its all done through a progam called stYed and it is cool as hell!

Doesnt mean i dont like gta3 though.

I never finished gta2 because i never collected every single one of those gta2 thingys (i got 49 out of 50 on 2nd level)

One other thing - you can change the handling etc, etc. of the cars. I had an ambulance which would reach its top speed instantly and cross the entire map in less than a second (the screen cant keep up) and stop on a dime. It was great fun for jumps!
 
i bought gta when it first came out and it was one of the best games around, but a few years later when u compare gta3 to gta1 it just makes gta1 look like a peice of s**t. I don't really bother playing gta1 anymore when i have gta3.
 
the first gta i played was gta 1, and it was as a free software from a friend, i played and i cracked my belly playing it back then, it was hillarious!!!!
and because of gta3 i went ahead and bought the sopranos dvd collection, already had godfather series, scarface, once upon a time in america.
 
I've never played the first one. But I do have GTA2. I jsut bought it off my friend for a couple dollars. It was very odd playing it after playing gta3 and vice city. It gets really annoying trying to shoot and aim at things. I havn't really played it that much, and frankly I don't really want to.

Uh huh. You can also do that in GTA3 and GTA: Vice City (you're obviously talking about the PC versions)
