I have a logitech speaker system, That I would like to use as a surround sound system, I was wondering if there is anyway, I can connect it to my Ps3/Tv.

Also, I was wondering if you could set it up, So when a car passes you, here it travel from the back to front speakers.

I have a adapter that can make the 3 wires convert to one like headphone's.

Thanks SDC.

Unless there's some sort of optical adaptor there's no way to connect those speakers and keep the surround sound function, you'd end up with stereo only. Those speakers are for a PC which has the surround sound processor built-in, PS3s and TVs lack that capability in favour of a separate (usually large) box. You'd need one of those.

If your using hdmi, you can plug in the red white yellow also and get audio from the red and white. But it will be stereo not surround.

Sorry I will edit that, I only want those speakers connected as such.

I am using HDMI. Is surround what I'm talking about with the moving cars?

Thanks SDC

I bought a Chinese Dolby decoder with an optical input and PC style outputs for use with my PS3 and a similar Logitech surround set.
Most aren't cheap though.

Did it work as like a uhm, Car moving rear to front?, and how much?

Yes, it does output surround sound. (As in, rear sounds actually come from the rear speakers)
The one I bought doesn't have the option of adjusting individual channel volume though, but it works good enough.

So more the cheaper option, Im better of using the Panasonic one (tall speakers in op) rather then the logitech for the surround sound? like here the cars move from rear (sound in rear speakers) to front (sound in the front speakers).

I would recommend trying to pick up a cheap amp that decodes surround sound. Used ones are often virtually given away. You could use the sub and other speakers you have with that. Those speakers have the appearance of being line out because of the rca connectors, but I am pretty sure that they are speaker level. Meaning, that you should be able to cut the connector off and expose the wires like normal speaker wire. You would then run an rca lead through the puck that you have, to the sub.

Another upside is that you could upgrade the speakers at any point.

Thanks for the recomendation, but I am not experienced enough, and don't realy want to cut wires or anything unless it is a must, apart from that why go out and buy stuff if you have one (panasonic) surround sound. That can simply do the job untill I understand it more becsuse I do not clearly understand this.

Thanks SDC

You'd have to make sure the speaker impedance matches though, if you try to drive 3 ohm speakers with an amp that's expecting 8 ohm (or something) you might explode something.

What a prude !! Where's your sense of adventure? Actually, it's probably wise to listen to the guy with the beard, rather than the one that burnt his off.

What's the exact model of the Panasonic surround set?

PANASONIC-PT980- 5 speakers and a sub
-2 front speakers
-2 rear speakers
-A sub
-the small speaker that normally sits in front of the t-v.
-The main box/decoder that you turn it up/down/on/off with a iPod dock.

-Would I be-able to join it threw the headphone jack?
-How can I get the car moving from rear to front speaker effect?
-Am I better off using my proper surround sound setup?(picture below)
-But with that set-up can I can the cars beside me effect?

Reading the manual for the Panasonic surround set, it has an optical input and can decode Dolby Digital.

So if you connect the optical out of the PS3 to this set, you should be able to get 5.1 surround sound.

Whats optical?
and what does "5.1 surround sound" mean?
will my HDMI still work?

You definitely need optical. Search on ebay for an optical cable of a suitable length. You should be able to get one for as little as 3 or 4 dollars.

Once set up you should have as much channel separation as anyone else. So yes, car front rear etc. sound.

If you have a Pixar movie handy you can use the "maximise your home theatre" function from the title menu to check that the wiring and settings are correct. You will understand it when you see it.

Sweet, I will work on getting a optical cable.
Qhat do you mean channel separation?
So great what I have been looking for!
Okay, I will try that.

THANKS SDC!

EDIT: I guess everyone is talking about the Panasonic PT980?

Channel separation? Hearing different parts of the sound in the various speakers.

You can set up the sound options on the PS3 so that it sends the surround sound through optical as the main sound, but also if you switch on multi out, it will allow you to still send a stereo signal to your tv in the same way as you would be doing now. Just in case there is times when you want to play, but the sub is disturbing others or something.

Tree'd means been beaten to/by.

Wait, So what your saying is I would just have to go from optic to multi? if it annoys people?

If multi out is selected then you will have stereo sound running through your hdmi cable or red and white cables, at the same time as surround through the optical. It just means that you can switch between the audio types without changing cables over. Also, for a bit of fun: you could grab just your logitech sub and the speaker that has the power switch on it (front left or right) and plug the red and white cables into it. If you only use the yellow/orange and black connectors on the other side of the connection (not the green) you will have just the subwoofer active. Then you could place the sub under your seat if it fits, or right up against the back of the seat to feel some amount of vibration. You can try that straight away actually, assuming that you are currently sending audio to the tv via hdmi.

Sweet, I will play around with this at a later date.
